Not really surprised to be fair with no new signings on the final day but, very surprised we let Yedlin go out on loan! IMO he should be challenging Trippier for the RB position. He is also a good back up option for the wing.
Why buy these players and not play them! Arghhhhhh

Walker has played better in the last couple of games than at any point last season. With Trippier pushing him hard for a starting place we can hope that he will up his game like Rose did when we brought Davies in. I think those 2 have to battle it out this season.
I think Yedlin loan was a brilliant plan. Still a spurs player and still a hot prospect for the future. Hoping Sunderland will treat him like they did Rose, and forge him into a much better player with prem experience. For us he'd get a few Europa games; for Sunderland he might start half their league matches.
Then if he does well Walker really has something to worry about!

I think the key difference in Walker is that he looks to have got his pace back.
I am not sure he as ever really match fit last season. That injury may have taken more out of him than we (or he)realised.

The lineup appeared to be setup with the intent of not loosing.
That said I think other than actually scoring we did enough for the 3 points - but if you can't score then the next best thing is to make sure you don't concede.

Njie is injured isn't he? Walker has become a liability since his amazing season so agree trippier needs to get game time. Deli looks like a class player but I think we can't rush him so let's be patient

Davo, have you met Dembele before and he insulted you or something? Once again today he was arguably our best player until he went off injured! He has been our best player since the start of the season full stop. I don't get your campaign against the guy?
Whilst I don't rate Beteleb at all, fairs fair he had a decent game!
Mason was everywhere today and correct me if I'm wrong played a lovely ball to put Kane through which you would have put your house on him slotting home. Mason needs to add goals to his game especially if he is going to play in an advanced role but I think he is one to stick with as can see him becoming better and better.
The bottom line with today's game was simple, lack of quality in front of goal!!
I totally agree Chardli is shocking, a couple of his efforts literally were less than 10 yards out and hit the upper north stand tier!! Sooo poor
Carl Walker had a decent second half and let's hope he can push on as it seems Poch is sticking with him! First half summed him up for me and Everton should have gone one up due to his error although I couldn't help notice he still found someone to moan at somehow!!
I feel sorry for trippier, he must be thinking what can he do to get into side! That said games come think and fast after break so we will see what he is all about soon enough.
On plus side Danny Rose was fantastic so fingers crossed he continues in that form and I hate to say it by Dier was steady in that holding role, decent back up at least as I'm hoping we will go out and buy a defensive midfielder in next few days!!
Gutted with the result today but we were the better side by far and something is telling not to push panic button just yet

We need to sort out and protect our defence, otherwise we can forget about any chance of top four. Man U and Pool have only scored two goals each but both of them have 7 points because they have both conceded 0. We have scored 3 and have 2 points. I think it is critical that we sign a top class defensive midfielder. Toby has said that it was a lot easier to defend at Southampton last year with Sneiderlin and Wanama protecting the back four. All great teams have been founded on a rock solid defence ( Barca are the exception). Hopefully, we will sign a defensive midfielder before the end of the transfer window, but I have grave doubts.

Agree 100%, we are lacking that steel and belief we had last season and the heads of the players are dropping instead of fighting and grinding out results. Wanyama would be a great start IMO. I think we need two more players for sure. Wanyama for me and one of three, Austin, Berahino or my wildcard Michu!
The league is already looking more competitive this season so it's vital we start getting results sorted starting against Everton (2-1) is my bet. Before we are left with a mountain to climb. I believe we will do it but who else could we get this late in the window realistically?
Any thoughts?

Yep a true defensive midfielder is essential!! Benteleb, mason and Dier are not the answer! In fairness Dier hasn't done a terrible job in there but it's not his position and we need a specialist in there, most of all a leader!!

What would be the chances of a cheeky bid for Michu? He has/had a good record in the prem. not heard much of him lately but reckon Mpo can certainly get the best from him?

why is everyone getting so excited about michu?? Swansea don't even think he's good enough so why is he good enough for us? we need to aim a lot higher than michu. I would see about Hernandez at united and if not then benteke and kane would be my strike force for next season. If we can spend 25+ mil on david Bentley then we can on benteke

I'm not excited I just thought he was a good player at Swansea, Little bit like Teddy who could link up with Kane I would think, You'll also find Swansea wanted to cash in as they only signed him for 2m
I think you'll find we aimed higher a few years ago with Soldado & Lamela & that hasn't exactly worked out. Hernandez scored 37 goals in 4 years at a team that creates chances for fun, You could argue he didn't play all games but never the less he couldn't get into the team. IMO he won't take our club to the next level. (I'm not saying Michu will either but if we could get him for 3 or 4m that would be a bargin)
Benteke is rated at 32m this morning, I can't see Levy & co approving that purchase can you.? Maybe players in exchange as part of a deal would be our preference.

Hernandez would not come to Spurs and I think he is overrated but that's My opinion. benteke would be a good shout but D.L will NOT pay his release clause. Michu would be a sound investment and would not rock the boat, where I believe Benteke would.
I would aim higher but the targets I would like to see, I doubt D.L would even entertain. I believe that Mpo will get at least 1/2 players he wants. The rests will probably be Baldini/Levy special buys! Lol
{Ed030's Note - Benteke is not very good at all, not very mobile, unwilling to work for the team. His hold up play and Finishing is pretty average. He can become a good player but not for anywhere near worth the amounts of money being talked about for him in my opinion. }

About that, but not totally sure. Either way he is quality and if we have any real aspirations we have to keep him! Also in M.Vorm we have a quality backup.

I actually thought M.Vorm played well last night. We will do a lot better than you think I reckon. Totally agree that we need an extra striker tho! Saido and Austin with H.K would be class.

To be honest it's his first season, he has done exceptional and he is very hungry. He chases the ball and IMO will certainly get better providing he gets the service which was lacking in the U21 tourney. The goals will dry up at some point but they do for every Striker!
I don't believe he is the finished article but his desire, ability and potential will get him along way. As for £40mill people band around, that to me is crazy at this stage but blame those willing to pay it!
The whole footballing world is crazy lol
