Personally I'm hoping Hojberg does go to Everton. I can't see what he offers us? He isn't a midfield destroyer type, nor a playmaker so what is all the fuss about? He hasn't played for Southampton for a while and their results have improved and all his stats suggest he really doesn't contribute a great deal, no more than Winks for example? Any thoughts?

I’d rather see us fix the defense. full backs/ wing backs of the required quality are in short supply in our squad. Center back positions are thin on consistent quality also with Jan expected to leave and with Toby aging.

When United brought Bruno Fernandes in Jan they were in a worse position than us! Penny pinching Levy had the chance to sign him but wouldn't pay that little bit extra to get the deal through. Now look at the difference in the 2 clubs. They can go 3rd today and we can drop into the bottom half! Our football is dull, turgid, boring, devoid of any spark, United have transformed from all over the place to a team that is great to watch.

I'm not saying we would be world beaters if we had got the deal over the line but it shows for the umpteenth time how Levy and his penny pinching is killing any chance of us actually achieving anything! He has served us well but now is stifling us and sending us in a direction which will leave us losing the few good players we have and another 10+ years of achieving nothing! With a little more investment Poch would still be in charge and we would be comfortably in the top 3 for some time to come. I've backed Levy for years but he has blown it completely in the last 18 months. Sell up before it's too late!

I don’t imagine things getting any better any time soon.

The cash flow crunch must be considerable with the new stadium financing, lack of attendance at games, no CL next season - potentially no Europa Cup income and a reduction in Premier League “prize” money.

I’d imagine the number crunchers are working overtime trying to keep the club solvent. A perfect storm unfortunately.

24 Jul 2015 22:35:02
If we were to sell Adebeyor, Soldado, Lennon, and Chiriches, we would have squad space and with all the other sales nearly enough to buy Berahino, Bolasie, Sissoko and Austin, just saying! That would make me actually optimistic too!

What do we reckon then guys? Would we be better off outside the Europa league spots and playing once a week next year, allowing all our players to rest and hopefully be fit and available for selection a lot more often, or do we need at least some sort of European football next year to keep players, attract others and balance the books a little? Europa is winnable too?

I hope we miss out mwheels, I said that on here over a week ago but since then we've won 3 on the spin 🤬
Why? Because pi**ing around in Hungary or Norway on a freezing cold Thursday night isn't my idea of fun, but I understand the financial implications of missing out 🤔
However, nice to put a dent in Leicester and Brenda's CL hopes - let's face it we haven't got on with them since 1961 🏆.

It's the 37 min and I'm just going to say for the 1000th time Aurier is a liability! We all know it, surely he has to be the 1st one to be replaced?

1.) 12 Jul 2020 18:30:41
We gifted you that one, only one team was playing. Fortunately for you anti football paid off due to our errors. Mourinho to stay lol.

2.) 12 Jul 2020 20:40:06
If I apply Oddbod logic . How bad must you be oddbod? Bournemouth we didn’t have a shot on target, today we scored twice.

3.) 12 Jul 2020 23:42:45
Only 1 team was playing, lol. 2 teams were playing, badly, you lot were just worse! After not registering a shot on target vs Bournemouth we managed 9 against your pathetic backline.

Raver, I emptied the whole box of Mr Kiplings tonight, love a good lemon slice!

4.) 13 Jul 2020 06:30:55
Worse? We had 62% possession and you were the home team 😂🤣
You were very lucky.

5.) 13 Jul 2020 10:02:12
Wodbod this is the worst spurs side in years and we still smashed you again 🤣😂🤣😂 would you like some salt with your chips sir😁.

6.) 13 Jul 2020 10:04:47
Top man wheels for finishing a box of Mr Kipling cakes off for the raver, I finished mine off straight after the match and then downed 14 cans of Heineken.

7.) 13 Jul 2020 10:31:48
Living the dream Raver!

8.) 13 Jul 2020 13:42:27
Raver this is the same spurs team that made the champions league final and who you said would challenge for the league, and now you are saying they are the worst in years? In the last 10 years what spurs team has done better then this lot then? 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣.

09 Jul 2020 21:02:47
Ive never seen a football team with so many players that can't pass and have absolutely zero end product.

Lamela looks good on the eye and produces nothing, Sissoko is athletic and produces nothing else. Lo Celso has been embarrasing for the last 3 games.

Aurier can't cross to save his life and Davies isn't much better. Winks is most comfortable when taking the easy option of passing sideways or backwards, Lucas gas had 45 mins where he has produced for us in.

mwheels

1.) 09 Jul 2020 21:08:49
The only thing lamela has done at his time at spurs his dye his hair.

2.) 09 Jul 2020 21:42:33
The only positive is that Ndombele passed the ball forwards more times in about 20 mins than the whole team have in 4 games and they were passes that actually affected the game, surely Jose will want to cut that out🤦‍♂️.

3.) 10 Jul 2020 10:54:39
M wheels, you are so right about the majority of lateral and own half passing that happens when we take to the field now. Very few positives to take from these latest performances under Jose. Whatever happened to the quick breaks from Son and Moura, the style that got us so far in the CL last season.

What sort of coach tells his players to break quickly into the oppositions half but then wait for them to get defensively organised. Sheer madness. Last night at one point it appeared we had 8 attacking players on the pitch but still could not co-ordinate a decent strike on goal.

Supposed poor refereeing decisions and even VAR going against us could be blamed for the players getting frustrated and it affecting their game but these are professional footballers whose mindset should be strong and positive as induced by the coaching staff. We have about 72 hours to get them mentally prepared for the derby game in an empty stadium. Let's get to it. COYS.

06 Jul 2020 22:06:10
Wow, Everton made our showing against Sheffield Utd look reasonable. We are so bad, we have literally nothing going for us in the way we are playing and yet somehow they were miles off us and miles away from looking like any form of professional football club. I've never seen such an aweful game. 90 mins and nothing happened, shocking!

mwheels

1.) 07 Jul 2020 09:47:48
Agree watched the last four games live and can count on my hand the amount of attacks we had in the 4 games, I've seen some shocking spurs sides over the years but we always tried to play football the right way, jose will be gone before Christmas mark my words.

2.) 07 Jul 2020 13:35:43
They know CL is out of reach . and i'm sure the idea of Thursday night football doesn’t motivate them. I’m still at a loss as to why Jose was ever appointed in the first place.

06 Jul 2020 07:17:38
When we sacked Poch we were 14th. If we lose tonight there is a real chance that is where we will finish.

Is that a fair reflection of our current squad or have the players really let us down, I think half our squad are bang average, but as bad as 14th? What do you guys honestly think?

mwheels

1.) 06 Jul 2020 10:14:33
Agree wheels I can see us finishing anywhere between 7th to 14th for the next few years, the big problem are levy and Lewis who just won't pay big money for world class players, as we are already shopping at Wigan athletic for next season while Chelsea have got ziyech and werner already, we also now have a bang average squad with at least 10 players not good enough plus we never replaced the likes of walker, dembele, eriksen etc.

2.) 06 Jul 2020 10:38:03
We’re pretty much a mid table team. The defense has needed sorting for a long time, we went into this season with no fullbacks/ wing backs of the required quality. The center of defense has aged dramatically while Foyth and Sanchez have not kicked on and grown into the positions held by Jan and Toby in the past. If Dier is the answer we will be mid table again for a while with Thursday night football our idea of success.

3.) 06 Jul 2020 13:15:35
Agree dier is one of the worst players I've ever seen at spurs, he offers absolutely nothing.

{Ed047's Note - wasn’t he a defensive mid in his break out season when he was fantastic, why has he been put back into central defence?

4.) 06 Jul 2020 13:27:30
I think the biggest problem of the lot was never replacing Dembele. The guy was utter class, he ran games and bossed almost every player he came up against.

Its no coincidence that he left 18 months ago and instantly we went from averaging 2 points per game to little over 1 per game.
That however is one of several problems!

Lack of proper full backs and a genuine playmaker that can play that killer pass is making us toothless whilst leaking rubbish goals!

5.) 06 Jul 2020 15:59:36
Agree moussa dembele was an absolute beast of a player, we should have built the team around him and Luca modric who was another class player.

6.) 06 Jul 2020 19:51:52
Something happened around the time we knocked Citeh out of the CL! 🤔
I don't know what but our league form changed and we quite frankly stumbled over the CL qualifying line last season 😬
I loved Poch but one of the biggest mistakes he ever made was starting Kane in the final, my heart sank when BT Sport announced that that night 😔.

7.) 06 Jul 2020 21:49:53
The Kane decision for CL final was clearly a mistake. But our form went off the edge of the cliff in January for what ever reason - Dembele sale perhaps? Eriksen also took an early vacation.

But ignoring the defense we have to many work horses with no consistent end product . Winks, Sissoko, Lamela and Lucas spring to mind that keep getting game time.

Yes I get all that Guvnor, but why do we always continue to turn the screw for so long? I am glad we have a solid base and are a properly run club, for which Levy is to be congratulated, but haggling over a couple of mil until the 11th hour when you are talking about a 50 mil plus player makes me think he isn't that interested in the player and will end up with the usual club statement come the 9th, we tried our best but it wasnt possible etc.
On the other hand if we do get it over the line it will have been so dragged out that he probably won't be ready for selection until september. I just would have loved a year where we buy whoever our genuine realistic targets are early in the window so they can prepare and be ready for gameweek one, not gameweek 4. Perhaps I live in a fantasy world!

I am sick to death of us leaving transfers until the 11th hour and then missing out. It stinks of Levy penny pinching again, even if we get Lo Celso he won't be ready for the 1st few games as he will need time to settle in.
Currently from our tiny squad from last year we have got rid of many more than we have added and the contract situation of the ones we have are nearly terminal in some cases, why leave it to drag so long. If they are showing no signs of extending contracts just move them on for the best price you can actually get and stop pissing about for the sake of a few mil and get the players you actually know are available and you want, is it really that complicated?
Im guessing Levy is now planning on signing Sessegnon in jan on a tribunal to save another few mil, risky business!

I think the reason you finished below us was because again you got less points than us! Your arguements are always based on ifs, well here is one for you Oddbod, IF my Auntie had balls she would be my Uncle!

I can't see us buying a replacement any time soon. It will mean more minutes for Skipp this season so we may see a bit more of him and what he is made of, he seems to have great potential.

The one thing we desperately need is a CM that can go past a player which then opens up space for the front 3. This is what Dembele has been brilliant at. When he goes past one or two and then gives it we create so much more. We need to have that as in my eyes Dier Wanyama, Winks and Skipp are really all competing for the same posistion and currently Sissoko is the only one for the other CM spot if Dembele goes.

I really like Sissoko in terms of speed stamina work rate and dribbling but technically he isn't good enough and has little to no end product. He does a lung busting 40 yard run, goes past 3 and then misses a 5 yard square pass!

I would also like to add that Dembele has been my favourite player to watch live for the last 3 years and he has completely bossed many of the games I've been to. The guy has such strength and technique, made it look so easy at times, and I will miss him!
