Great result today for us yids. 3 points are massive.
Question for my fellow lilywhites tho, would you exchange today's 3 points for the same result down Wembley way next month, should we get through our semi? Baring in mind, all our chelski pals would use squad rotation as an excuse for a final loss. Just a thought. Are bragging rights more important.

Your confident you will play Chelsea.

2.) 06 Jan 2015 19:14:34
Over two legs i'm confident Chelsea will thrash Liverpool.

So, he plays a lone striker at home to burnley.
Hhmm, MRP is setting himself up for a fall if we don't score again at home. Soldado scored in his last game. Lamela has been tripe, so I would of preferred 2 up top personally.

COYMFS

1.) For me the second half performance being poor is down to mopo. I'm a fan of stambouli but 1 up front and 2 holding midfielders we are asking for them to come at us. Why not bring dembele on. 68% possession 1st half. Why stand off

2.) Still not a fan of Bentaleb, gets found out against top teams and very over rated . Stambouli should be playing from the start especially as the over rated one is going in Jan for a month . Oh, and please Mopo, keep the mercenary away from our team!!

3.) Ps, another 3 points so well done boys . Above the lot from the library, even if it's for only one game so far!

4.) I think we know that we're still finding our best team, but the starting one today did seem a step in the right direction. Still a season of transition, but hopefully the performances will keep coming.

I really liked that Eriksen was played centrally today. I think when he plays left and Lamela right then they both drift into the central space and cramp each other. With Eriksen having the control of that area (even though he does move around a bit) it felt like Lamela stayed wider and Chadli gave width the other side to stretch. So I liked the Chadli - Eriksen - Lamela attacking midfield.

I also agree that two holding midfielders did not work. I've long been a critic of the double pivot, far preferring the DPC system. With Bentaleb (Destroyer), Mason (Passer), and Eriksen (Creator) we stretched them well.

I'm also not a fan of Bentaleb, but if he does retain the first choice 'D' then it looks like Capoue will be moved on as we don't need 3 in that position, and we're not going to sell Stambouli 5 months after getting him in.

It also looks like Soldado may get moved on if Poch feels like Kane can play up front by himself. I don't think you can keep him as a sub option.

Fazio still looks a bit dodge, but the back 4 are taking a bit more shape and the chemistry is building. We're starting to look more like a team again!

5.) Spot on Wulf. The interesting dynamic for me is the lift the team gets from Mason, Kane and now Walker. Players that perform like they want to play for us, lifting the performance of the others.

Blimey. No wonder Levy looked p**sed today.
Not just because of the result, but Joe Lewis was sat next to him.
Is he here with his cheque book? Seems very strange timing as he never normally goes to spurs games.

COYMFS

1.) Probably looked pi55ed about how much he paid for Lamela.

Same dross. Different manager. It's so much fun being a spurs fan. Goodness, we are terrible. I can see the Poch out threads starting very soon lol

COYMFS

1.) You were saying!?

2.) Well well. Major foot in mouth. Post a negative comment and our record signing does the biz from the bench.
I might have to make it a habit of posting about our dross :-)

3.) It's always a bad sign when you win your first two games as a manager. I know there are a lot of people who say you have to give someone time but in my opinion if you aren't losing three out of the first five then in reality you don't stand a chance.

4.) There's a lot of work to do to shape this team after the confusion of last year. One pre-season is not going to cut it.

I don't expect anything much in terms of league position this year, it will be all about Poch getting the team to play the way he wants them to. We just have to be patient.

5.) Agree there Wulf, Mopo also needs to be able to get the players he wants!

6.) Agree Wulf, I think the quality of the players should see us stay in the 5-7 position. Anything beyond that would be a surprise to me. Though I can see 4th being open for challenge if a team hits good form after Xmas and avoids major injuries.

I'm interested to see how the Mersyside teams deal with Europe for the first time in a while and what the weekend after affects are for them.

All these Vorm rumours worry me. He is a World Cup keeper, why would he sign as a number 2?
I know Hugo has just signed a new deal, so why sign Vorm?
If we get £30m for Hugo then I can understand signing Vorm, who in my opinion would be a great replacement as would Krul. Will Vorm arrive, if signed, just to play cup comps or do we know Hugo is leaving this or next summer?
I hope it's just a media rumour because I'm baffled if it is true.

Better to be on Tottenhams bench than Swanseas.

2.) If you look at the amount of games we have assuming decent cup runs it makes sense. we need a quality number 2 and he will get games.

I think Hugo will be here this coming season but progress is key to him being at Spurs in the long term

3.) 21 Jul 2014 15:31:42
There is probably some clause in Lloris new contract about going if we fail to get cl next season.

We only have 6 home grown players instead of the usual 8. So that is why we have 23 and not 25 players. If numbers 24/25 where added to the squad, they have to be home grown only. Hope that makes sense :-)

Same day too oracle. Pure bad luck in my opinion. You couldn't of got it further from the truth. Also MS has updated his FB page with a new Southampton pic. Today also!
See you in January oracle.

Ed002, yes they have made a profit in the last few windows. So have Spurs. But when your squad is full of £30/50 million players, (financed by an individual at a cost of nearly a billion over a period of a few seasons) some will get sold that haven't worked out and some new ones will come in at £30/50 million a pop. I can understand Paul's point about Man City and Chelsea. Example. Sunderland/Newcastle start on a level field. Decentish prem squads. Mike
ashley wins the lottery. Spends half a billion remoulding the squad at Newcastle. Now, in future windows they both might turn a small profit or loss in a window. But Newcastle are trading £30/50 million players. Sunderland are trading £8/10 million players. Simple question, who should be more successful? Manchester United are trying to buy their way back in. It ain't working. Yet. I don't think Paul is making excuses. I think they are facts. Barcelona and real will always be up their in Spain. I wonder why.

COYMFS

{Ed002's Note - No, his comment was completely wrong. It cannot be justified by whining about everyone else. In the long term Real Madrid and Barcelona will not be playing other Spanish sides but be part of a pan-European league.}

By the way. If you post my posts, then I can be educated as to why I am wrong. People will respond and I can read their arguments against my views. I'm not bitter at all. I only posted my view and you all go off on one

{Ed001's Note - still more moaning......}

That's your opinion. This is a banter opinions site. It's only your opinion. No one else can post an opinion because you refuse to post my opinion. You tell me to grow up when you all throw your toys out of your pram when a post about your beloved Chelsea is not to your liking and you delete it. I've made my point I think.

COYMFS

{Ed001's Note - my beloved Chelsea? I am not a Chelsea fan. Shows how ignorant you are. You have not made any point, just whined like a baby because your post hasn't appeared immediately, like you are so special your view is that important!}

I'm assuming ed002 is a Chelsea fan. I typed out a long post giving him reasons for Paul's post about Chelsea and Man City. I wasn't aggresive. Didn't swear. He just hasn't posted it because he didn't like it. Quality site this is. Censorship at the highest level.

COYMFS

{Ed001's Note - Do you think he waits around for you to post so he can delete it?? Grow up. He volunteers to help for nothing and is here when he can. Censorship at the highest level? Do you think your crappy ignorant diatribe about Chelsea is worth censoring? You posted a load of dreaming about the situation which showed a lack of understanding of the world of football, it probably should have been deleted really rather than held for Ed002 to reply! Typical of the fans who have no idea what good management is. Abramovich spent nothing like the lies you made out, most of the money he spent went on removing debt from mismanagement in the Bates' era and on the training ground etc, not playing staff. But bitterness will never see the truth and you are clearly bitter about Chelsea's success.}
