Looks like the Barkley deal is off due to wage demands.

1.) 05 Jan 2018 15:41:37
I reckon we dropped our interest in him a while ago, none of my contacts have even mentioned Barkley for ages. For what reasons I don't know but maybe we just looking at different positions. What we need is a wide, fast, attacking, creative player hence the Malcolm, Zaha, Martial posts.

2.) 05 Jan 2018 16:15:26
I still think we need someone to rival Erikson when he's not on form Ellis. Agree with the winger.

3.) 05 Jan 2018 18:39:15
If we had wanted him we would of got him.

{Ed025's Note - thats not actually true ellis..

4.) 05 Jan 2018 18:48:16
Stupid decision to allow him to slip away for £15m.

{Ed025's Note - he would not get in your midfield anyway oracle..

5.) 05 Jan 2018 19:11:02
Agree Ed but we're crying out for someone to pressure Erikson. and for 15m. a steal. Poch would have undoubtedly made him a better player too.

6.) 05 Jan 2018 19:12:15
Whats the truth then ed?

{Ed025's Note - the truth is he seen chelsea as the better option and they were prepared to pay better wages, he also wants to win things and like it or not chelsea have more chance than spurs of giving him that mate..

7.) 06 Jan 2018 09:07:42
'better wages' my point exactly. let's 'judge' his decision in a year. see if he does indeed become a bench warmer.

not bothered either way personally as I trust in Poch and Levy to do what's right for our club, but an English player for that fee is a no brainer, sell him on in 2 years and make a profit? unless his wage demands were extremely high and therefore upsetting the rest of the players? and we really do not 100% know what other irons are in the fire.

Chelsea seem to sign, go out on loan, sit on the bench and sell quite a lot of players though, which Ross undoubtedly must have taken into consideration.

we could have clearly matched Barkleys night club ambition.

8.) 06 Jan 2018 17:58:38
The truth is spurs weren't interested in the end. Davinson Sanchez chose us over Chelsea as did Llorente.

9.) 07 Jan 2018 20:35:41
Ellis dee why do supporters nowadays obsess over who players signed for we beat them to his signature who cares yes we signed willian I couldn't give a shute who he was thinking of signing for, very childish
We won the player na na na naa na it's not our money our choice or in our hands so get over it.

10.) 07 Jan 2018 21:44:55
Im just glad we didn't sign Morata 😂 another Chelsea 'bargain' 😂.

11.) 08 Jan 2018 08:20:25
I know what you mean Ellis I must admit I would of preferred lamela.

12.) 08 Jan 2018 15:28:27
You would of had another 40 or 50 mil leftover if you had.

13.) 09 Jan 2018 17:24:10
I was being sarcastic.

14.) 09 Jan 2018 19:47:54
Well I never 😮.

02 Dec 2017 19:06:44
I think Poch needs to man up and drop Ali for a game or two.

1.) 10 Dec 2017 10:41:55
We have one LAMELA!

28 Nov 2017 19:15:53
Guys, stop the panic, we have a good squad and have not been able to put out our best 11 so far this season. The positives are that we are up there with many players to get fully fit, unlike the other teams.

Top 4 is never decided till April / May.

1.) 28 Nov 2017 21:03:01
Nope I agree. Chin up NES.

2.) 28 Nov 2017 23:54:57
Long way to go Sano. 🙈 especially for us if we continue at this rate. 😂.

3.) 29 Nov 2017 07:05:42
If we are going to maintain the ridiculous high line, then top 6 is what we will aiming for!

4.) 29 Nov 2017 18:38:57
Dawj, we can not play a system closing down from the front and not play a high line. The whole point is to compress the game and make your opponents give the ball away.

5.) 01 Dec 2017 13:13:41
The system is not working and opposing teams are more than happy to sit back and hit us on the counter!

6.) 01 Dec 2017 16:38:07
Wow anyone listening to this rubbish would believe we weren’t in the Champions League knockout out stages, FA Cup and still in the hunt for top 4.

Ever thought it was perhaps just bad luck?

Leicester Loss 2-1
63% possession away from home and 150% of shot on target compared to Leicester.

West Brom 1-1 Draw
73% Possession and 250% of shot on target compared to West Brom.

Arsenal 2-0 Loss
58% Possession with 80% shots on target compared to Arsenal with a weak team focussed on Champions League 3 days later away in Germany.

Palace 1-0 Win
69% Possession and won!

Kane, Eriksen and a couple of others have played too many games on 4 fronts and have had a minor form dip as they needed more cover.

We dominated everyone in those last 4 games, and now Lamela is back and looking sharp we will have a new attacking dimension.

Dier, Wanyama, Dembele and Winks will fill those deeper roles, and Lamela, Eriksen, Son and Dele Alli will take those behind Kane. Rose is back from injury and improving each game.

January might see Rose go to Man Utd, but I believe we will get Luke Shaw plus mega cash. Barkley looks like the deal was already agreed on the cheap, and Richarlison and Lanzini look potential targets. Poch could sell Sissoko as he is clearly not required.

If Poch and Levy are clever in Jan we could lose Llorente to Everton as Allardyce is a big fan, and sign Dembele. Don’t write us off just yet, big win at Watford and we will all be smiling again!

7.) 01 Dec 2017 16:39:51
that's why we need someone who can unlock defences with a pass when Erikson is off he boil. Is Barkley the key? seems Poch thinks so.

8.) 01 Dec 2017 19:18:31
The possession stakes confirm what I am saying i. e teams are content to sit back and play the counter-attacking game against us.

Insofar as the UCL is concerned, it's actually the opposite i. e we are playing the counter-attacking game!

9.) 02 Dec 2017 09:09:15
ps good post Oracle. get the sad lads upbeat.

10.) 02 Dec 2017 09:22:21
Barkley is different class and once he is fully fit under the Poch regime he will fulfill his true potential. Barkley de alongside Wanyama with LAM Son, CAM Eriksen, RAM Lamela and Kane upfront.

I would sell Dele Alli for mega cash as there are so many better players rated at a fraction of the price. Mahrez for example, Zaha or even Richarlison who would bring new energy to the team and cost 1/ 3rd of what we could get for Dele.

Janssen is clearly poor and we need to cut our losses when he finishes his loan at Fenerbache. Llorente is Simply not fast enough for our style of football and could return to Swansea or even Everton. Josh Onomah has been pathetic at Villa and he needs to go, Cart Vickers weak at Sheffield United and another we should ship on.

We have three players who need a chance in my opinion just like Winks was granted. Marcus Edwards RAM, Kazaiah Sterling CF and Japhet Tanganga at CB. The three positions we badly need cover and we have three amazing talents we could unleash instead of relying on Sissoko, Llorente and Dier our of position at CB.

11.) 02 Dec 2017 18:27:25
Barkley isn’t even wanted by the Everton fans, he’s a major ‘what went wrong’ case. He’s not somebody to unlock a team. Mahrez and zaha would be more suited to that role. Selling Dele for mega money? Quite honestly if he carries on like his all season you might struggle to find clubs silly enough. I think people are figuring spurs out a bit but to be honest the defence without your main pairing doesn’t look good enough. You guys think much business will be done in January on your part?

12.) 03 Dec 2017 22:02:17
Didnt Barkley have the most assists or chances created stat in the Prem the other season?

13.) 04 Dec 2017 08:21:50
Barkley is different class you see when he is actually fit for once. Honestly Barkley alongside Wanyama would be sensational.

14.) 10 Dec 2017 11:02:25
Our team to challenge doesn’t look too different to the one we have now, the issue is the squad depth. Let’s analyse what we have and who is really good enough.

GK - Lloris, Vorm and Gazzanigga as good as it gets.
LB - Rose and Davies Simply outstanding. The question is does Rose go to Manchester United and what impact will it have to bring in Shaw and Sessegnon. My view is Davies has looked solid this season and with Shaw and/ or Sessegnon we would be even stronger post Rose.
CB - Vertonghen, Sanchez and Alderweireld look sensational, but where is the cover. Foyth looks half decent and Dier and even Davies can cover but surely we need another solid Centre Half to support this trio.
RB - Aurier looks really classy and Trippier has shown some class since arriving. Not sure either are the level we require and wonder how long it will be until KWP comes of age. I think we need to allow Aurier more time to demonstrate if he is the man.
CDM - Wanyama or Dier offer world class cover in this role. Rotation between them and use from the bench to see our game will be critical and the main backbone wrist we have missed with Dier out of position and Wanyama injured.
CM - Dembele is world class when fit and Harry Winks has improved no end. With Barkley arriving in January we will have ample option in midfield with proper world class cover.
LAM - Son has cemented his place and is showing signs of real potential to be potentially world class. I cannot see anything in N’Koudou and sense we need a Richarlison type player to really provide options and flair to win games from the bench.
CAM - Eriksen is clearly best in this role, Dele Alli need to be sold for the over hyped £100m and another rising star brought in to cover the mercurial Viking.
LAM - Lamela is back and looking fantastic already. I can help thinking we need a pacey winger like Sterling or Mane to give us a different dimension.
CF - Kane is world class but Llorente is not the cover story. Defoe was the obvious choice as back up and it mystified me why we didn’t get him. I think it is time to get a proper CF to challenge and provide us with a reliable alternative to rest Kane or sub him with real confidence. Perhaps Dembele of Celtic is ripe for the taking in the summer.

My XI: Lloris, Sessegnon, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Aurier, Barkley, Wanyama, Son, Eriksen, Lamela and Kane.

The key is how the bench looks: Vorm, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Dele Alli, Richarlison and Dembele (Celtic) .

19 Nov 2017 12:23:58
Rumours about Danny Rose kicking off must be true, why was Walker-peters on bench?

We need to move him on. no respect for the club at all, that 'made' him the player he is today. disgraceful.

1.) 28 Nov 2017 07:11:48
Rose is totally overrated and nothing more than a good player. If Man Utd really want him or Man City want to come knocking then I would be happy to see him go for the silly money being quoted. Luke Shaw could be tossed in on the deal with Utd, and Ryan Sessegnon could be acquired for the future.

09 Nov 2017 08:34:30
interesting reading snippets from Pochs book about loyalty, team work, development and then the story when they went to Argentina white water rafting with Levy and the incident that occured.

When I think back of how Sol treat this amazing club of ours, wonder how he would have reacted in that situation. shows ones character and true self.

In Poch we trust.

Thanks Swansea.

1.) 22 Jan 2018 22:11:50
I enjoyed that.

2.) 22 Jan 2018 23:01:09
loved it Ellis. shhhhhhhh can you hear the Scousers.

where are hey all tonight.

22 Jan 2018 18:10:13
Well it's official, 1 superstar has left the sinking red ship.

1.) 22 Jan 2018 21:28:31
3 points behind you.

2.) 22 Jan 2018 21:49:42
Yes sinking Dags. we've been terrible this season.

3.) 22 Jan 2018 22:44:15
Well, we've been 3 points terribler than you 😁.

20 Jan 2018 14:25:32
Must win game tomorrow, next 3 PL games;

United h
Liverpool a
Gooners h

I think we have a favourable run in this year, if we can pick up 6/ 7 points from the above games.

1.) 20 Jan 2018 18:34:24
We will be picking up 9 points from those games none of those teams bother the raver and spurs, bring them all on.

2.) 20 Jan 2018 20:17:07
United didn't bother us once in 90 mins at old traffard and we still managed to lose 1-0!

3.) 20 Jan 2018 22:18:41
Big games raver, that will shape our season. good to have Toby back. and Victor.

16 Jan 2018 18:56:18
Looks like the January sales have started at the Woolwich.

I thought the idea was to PURCHASE in the sales? 🤓.

1.) 16 Jan 2018 20:57:21
You boys are so obsessed with us.

Must be those 20 odd years in our shadow 😁.

2.) 16 Jan 2018 21:25:01
Just a friendly rival fan celebrating in your misery Dags. 😉.

3.) 16 Jan 2018 22:44:57
The Arsenal fan nearly crying and shouting rubbish at the Arsenal players at Bournemouth made me chuckle.

4.) 16 Jan 2018 23:03:11
Misery is the right word mate 😁.

14 Jan 2018 16:36:48
wheres me old mucker Dags when he's needed 😃.

1.) 14 Jan 2018 18:06:51
Ellis said weeks ago that Arsenal are finished and he looks spot on as usual, they have a bang average squad with an outdated manager. The fans can't complain though as they have had many good years under Wenger.

2.) 14 Jan 2018 18:14:25
the majority of gooners 'expect' to be challenging ever year Raver, and hat hasn't happened for a while. we have had a massive resurgence in the last 5 years and the future looks bright, even with all the haters calls that we NEED to win something.

I see a massive rebuild job ahead at the gooners and that will only commence once Wengers gone, which may not be soon, hopefully 🤗.

3.) 14 Jan 2018 21:01:33
Can't disagree with you Gents.

I wouldn't say we are finished, but as NES correctly said, Wenger out than a massive rebuild.

Oh, just a reminder, you boys are still a long way off from being the finished product (being above us doesn't make you capable of challenging for top spot. Just means you are above a very avarage/ poor Arsenal team) .

4.) 14 Jan 2018 21:59:54
An Arsenal team with roughly the same points tally as years gone by. Infact didn't you have one of your highest points tally last season for a while?

5.) 14 Jan 2018 23:02:57
Ellis your knowledge is fantastic, If the raver was ever going to go on a tea time quiz like pointless or eggheads I want Ellis by my side as we would be in the pub a hour later with the trophy and cash in our hands getting smashed.

6.) 14 Jan 2018 23:19:48
Bloody hell Ellis and Raver,

That just proves my point.

You should be happy if you are challenging City, and not just because you are above an avarage Arsenal team.

Read the post properly.

7.) 14 Jan 2018 23:35:25
Still lots of points to be earned and lots of games to be won/ lost. Neither of you are top4 right now yet are both capable, be an interesting battle this season many twists and turns.

8.) 15 Jan 2018 02:07:40
When was the last time Arsenal challenged? Arsenal spend big on wages but you're nowhere near yo challenging.

You need to read my post properly Dags. Arsenal are on about the same points tally as you have been for 10 odd years. Its just other teams, like spurs, have overtaken you. You've been average for a long time, nothings changed.

9.) 15 Jan 2018 07:42:40
The thing is Left peg, you have to take into account we’re playing at Wembley, your right we’re not in the top 4. Personally I think it will go down to the wire this year. You looked very good yesterday, but I said that earlier in the season, then you go and get beat by the lesser teams shall we say. You’ve got goalkeeping issues. Nevertheless I love watching Liverpool.

As for Arsenal they will still be there or thereabouts if you look at the history they are always there. If I’m totally honest I think we will just miss out on top 4 which I said at the start of the season and my view hasn’t changed for us to really make a statement we need to sign a class player this window one more creative player who can score goals and is proven. It just seems we won’t pay the 50m that’s needed to push on.

{Ed001's Note - do you think Wembley has had much of a negative effect in the end? Only your home record is excellent if I remember correctly and it was your away record letting you down wasn't it? I have to be honest, I did think the Wembley factor would be a problem but it seems like the players are loving it and having the extra large backing from the crowd has brought the best out of them at times.}

10.) 15 Jan 2018 07:59:13
I see the competition as great but sadly none of us are quite doing it with city too, hopefully next war the title itself will go down to the wire and not just top 4 positions. Goodluck for the rest of the season lads.

11.) 15 Jan 2018 08:04:06
It did at the start of the season Ed, when teams park the bus we still struggle West Ham, West Brom, When teams try to play we can open them up, Southampton, Everton, Liverpool etc.
That’s why If I were the director / manager I would look at the results where we haven’t broken teams down, that’s where we miss that little bit of magic which could cost us top 4. Then keeping ahold of players may become an issue

Everyone can say Kane won’t go he’s committed to spurs, I beg to differ. In my honest opinion I think he’ll be gone at the end of next season if he keeps producing the levels he has over the last couple of seasons

We’ve got a few massive games coming up at the end of Jan / Feb, this will shape our season.

{Ed001's Note - Everton parked the bus mate, you didn't struggle against them really, but then they look to have gone backwards in recent weeks for some reason. I just thought you looked like you were struggling initially as you settled in, but now you look at home there, so to speak, and are finding the extra width of the pitch actually suits you. Your big issue has been poor recruitment this summer. I don't see any of Sanchez, Aurier or Llorente as being good enough for your team.}

12.) 15 Jan 2018 09:13:09
I agree Ed001 with the personnel we have brought in.? I do feel our scouting team needs addressing. Llorente was a strange buy. Aurier as I said before and Glen Hoddle said the exact same thing, he get's into the right positions but the final ball let's him down. Which is total b0ll0cks when you kick a football for a living everyday. They need to work on this with Aurier.
Sanchez may need a little more time.

{Ed001's Note - it does seem there is a problem there, as you suddenly splashed the cash, after years of parsimony, and brought in worse players than you did when you were being careful! Bizarre that was.

I really do not think Sanchez is any good at defending. Good on the ball, but dallies, that can be fixed, however his mindset is terrible. He is so reactive that it has caused you major problems. That was fine in the middle of a 3, as he could be covered by the two Belgians, who are an excellent pairing. It allowed him to be able to get caught out ballwatching and it not be too much of a problem. However in a back four he is constantly out of position and it is causing you real issues. The return of Dembele alongside Dier in midfield was a great help against Everton. Those two protect the defence so well you look a different team altogether.}
