Ed. we are now hearing Villa want. demand 30 mill for Benteke. no way is he worth that. in my opinion 15 mill is a generous offer.
1.) Lambert said £25m would get you to the side of the negotiation table, Villa seem more keen on keeping Benteke now & have apparently increased the amount required to £30m indeed. If you pay £30m - I really think he'll flop, Andy Johnson scored 23 goals in his first EPL season with Palace - look where he is now!

Having watched him ALOT. he is no one season wonder. He is the real deal. Finishing skills, composure and most impressively he is a magnet. He can win the ball in the air (or the ground) and make it stick to him, he is a real danger all over and contributes hugely to a team. Samba of QPR had a very good game man marking him but most defences have been battered by him. £25m will seem a snip in a couple of seasons, he may follow Bale to Madrid next season.

Benteke is worth at least 25m to Villa as we have seen his talent, believe in it and feel any less would not come close to replacing it.
Spuds should understand this. Bale will leave Spuds. Spuds rate him at 70m or so. However if he wants out (no matter what happens this season he will, now or then, and credit to him for discreetly doing so) He will be gone. If Madrid come with a 25m offer next season you would laugh>?!
But with that Madrid would say well he wants out no - one is worth silly money until they prove themselves on an international and CL level for more than one season so take the 25m for Bale or shove him in the reserves and wait for the value to rot.
What would/will you do next season (0r next month)?
6.) Thats all well and good but Bale has never kicked up a fuss and is very happy at Spurs at the moment so we will keep his value at £85m thank you very much.
7.) If cavani is 63 easily and bale is in a better league with higher values on a team that doesn't need to sell and he wins games by himself consistently. Bale not only is a great sprinter, but he runs all game long with one of the highest distance covered stats on team and can outsprint any defender in the 90th minute to snatch that late winner.

1.) They want£21mill for him when villa want £25 for benteke, AVB has said he wants damiao wages won't be a problem. So why are we not pushing to get him! There is no doubt he scored goals, and his age would imply he can still improve. Equally he is is tall, powerful, quick and can also head the ball. My concern is he has had one season of success, and whilst some showing some promise he is hardly a technical masterpiece. Lacking discipline and strays offside too often, tenacious but also very clumsy, and has lite ability to hold the ball up.
I know Aston Villa are a hellishly poor club, but that also raises concern whether he is looking good in a poor team. You could also argue he would get more support at Tottenham, and the comparative argument continues. Just remember Eicky Lambert scored 15 and actually had at least 5 more chances where he was unlucky, and I wouldn't want him playing for us.
My summary view would be to take a risk for £15m. He know he isn't going to get a better club than Spurs with first XI exposure. Equally Villa don't want a player with a transfer request pending, and they still have Bent. Some might argue that we should just pay £25m and get our man, I think caution is the better route as the risks are evident.
12.) It wasn't so long ago Spurs were close to relegation & Villa were 6th three years running. Hellishly poor! we just don't waste money! You lot are just the ugly sisters of London - always too small to be as big as Chelsea & Arsenal!

1.) Cheer up. They are probably signing Paulinho to be a replacement for Guarin.
2.) Not yet he hasn't.
According to reports, this was the story given to shaktar because he didn't want to go there but there are so many conflicting stories, you don't know what to believe.
3.) Oh great, I will b pretty dissapointed if we waste any money on the useless guarin! Everytime I have seen this guy he has been poor would be a big step backwards.

why all the midfielders?. surely we need another top striker.
1.) Capoue is also cover for defence plus we are replacing the not so good mids for class mids so it is not as if we are adding more replacing

2.) One thing I think we have been short sighted on before is that we go for a first XI and not a squad. A few injuries last year (Sandro, Defoe when he was in peak form, Lennon, Dembele niggles for much of the second half of the season) saw us short in some key games - especially with Europe to contend with.
Now we are building a squad that can keep players fresh. Dembele / Sandro / Paulinho / Capoue have the central 2 mids locked down, with the latter also being able to cover CB (I think he will start here whilst Verts is injured). It allows us to sell Hudds, Parker and loan out Livermore without leaving us short. Also those 4 allow us to play a traditional centre 3 in a 4-3-3 formation giving us options.
Slightly further up we have Holtby and Siggs in centre mid. Lennon and Townsend on the right (although I expect the latter to be sold and replaced), and Chadli on the left. Bale of course can also play wide if he stays.
At the back leaves us only short of quality of LB, although we do have 2 players that can play there (plus Naughton in a scrape). At CB we have Verts, Daws, and Kaboul, with Capoue able to cover. Possibly one short of a full squad hence the interest in Toby A.
Building a great squad here. Exciting times.

I do not think Bale will join RM as they are broke and still owe 14 million for Modric. Hence I believe Coentrao will join us to wipe that debt out.
RM wish to pay installments over 5-6 years. IMO not a good deal. However I think Bale will leave end of the season. We def need another striker in the squad and centre back although Capoue can play that position.

1.) Seen the same rumor, subject to medical. Goodbye Parker and Hudd if true. and maybe 1 or 2 others.
2.) Where did you hear that Jim. ?
Are we not looking for better quality than McCarthy. Surely we are.
3.) I doubt we are, to be fair he looks very promising.

Are we in danger of missing out on our transfer targets and starting the new season with JD & Ade?
1.) Guess it depends on who our real targets actually are. Villa being the seemingly obvious exception to date.
While Levy & Co were in talks with Willian and his agent this morning, Abramovich called his mate at Anzhi and offered 38 mill. so with that we have lost Willian to the Chavs.
He didn't even play
I read the Spanish papers and watch the news each day. AND I can't stand the way they try to unsettle GB. Its ridiculous. WHY the board at the Lane have not reported Real Madrid and the President to FIFA Is beyond me. how can they get away with it?. anyway I believe that we should have faith in GB and get behind and support as we all do, until any official announcement is made. All this crap must be hard for a young lad & girlfriend to deal with.
Baldini met with Valencia staff Monday, made a bid of 18-20 million but was told 30 million euros with a set payment plan. he was asked to come back this morning (Tuesday)with that as our bid. he failed to turn up.
