willian in london hotel waiting for a medical, lamela deal virtually sealed should be completed in next 24/36 hours, levy flying back to london on thursday to oversee bale deal.RM offer is 85m levy demanding 120m.

welsh yiddo

1.) Hope your right but u have just quoted pretty much word for word

2.) Cardiff fan here just to say if you get willian and lamela and keep bale I think you guys got a title shot and now with soldado you will finish top 4. Hope you have a great season.

3.) Roma forward Erik Lamela agent said "I'm not in London and what is being said is not the truth, " "I'm in the [Italian] capital along with Erik's father.

"Lamela's relaxed about it all. We're just waiting for developments. Let's see what happens."

4.) The only thing I would be worried about if we get lamela is when ronaldo goes past his sell-by date. would they be after him if he puts in a good season or 2(if he comes).

5.) If that happens, they'll pay top dollar, just as they seem to be to get bale, so it seems a win win situation .
b/s

6.) Willian and lamela? I'm going to need some new underpants

7.) If they want to pay 100m plus for him who is to deny them? One player does not a team make . witness the work being done now to replace Bale.

8.) Ou812

why would erik lamela say "i am in the capital along with Erik's father"? Does lamela refer to himself in the third person?

RY

9.) If you could please reread what he said I shouldn't need to tell you. But i'm going to anyway; he's talking about Eriks agent. nlw be a good kid and in futuee double check youe work.

ps. my grammar on here is lax due to being on a phone.

11.) Ah thanks I read it too fast, after a couple drinks haha.

But let's just put it this way: if we're going to lose bale this summer, i'd like to think we are going to get those replacements that would keep our attacking line just as dangerous.

I guess the marca propaganda regurgitators have been getting to me about bale leaving.

Graham hunter has just said that spurs have agreed to pay the full amount of 30 million euros for soldado, no add-ons, no incentives as long as spurs pay 15 million now and the other 15 million within a year. Valencia are going on pre-season tomorrow so expect a deal to be announced within the next 24 hours. {Ed008's Note -

welsh yiddo

1.) Except that we appear to want to pay over a longer period with more payments than just 2.

2.) Graham hunter is spokesman /journo for marca.

3.) I actually think graham hunter is very reliable if he did in fact say that.

read in paper RM offering 91million for bale, this consists of 51million cash plusdi maria and contrao. we should tell RM to stuff it 91 million cash and no RM cast-offs. {Ed008's Note - To be fair Coentrao and Di Maria are quality players I'd accept the bid if the players were willing to accept lesser wages and no CL football which seems unlikely..

welsh yiddo

1.) Im hearing gareth is distrought, I guess earning a hundred grand a week having a healthy happy family and playing for a club that made him who he is must b really sad. i'm disabled live on a pittance, save what I can to travel from the isle of wight to watch players who love the club and pi. of a few weeks later well gareth, if u want to go, then go. players, managers even owners come and go we the fans r the real heroes spurs for ever not i'm sodding off cause another team are doing better, once a person always a yid. barb

2.) I don't think any rational person would turn down 50m and those 2 players. But we are fans and that is an emotional relationship, for the most part. Do I want Bale to leave no. would I accept 50m and those 2 players - Yes.

3.) Bale has given everything he had last season, and was quoted as saying he wants Spurs to progress to Champs League this year. All the rest is paper talk. Why would 'fans' turn on their own players based on speculation. Support Bale and support Spurs. it's going to be a great season!

Levy does what is best for the club, and invests wisely - new stadium, great infrastructure, and building a great team of youngsters. Get behind the club!

DT.

4.) Well said DT. Too many spurs fans slating bale when he has done nothing. Remember how patient he was on the bench years ago and was getting stick because we could not win with him in the team. He has been very loyal to the club since he joined. It is disgusting to hear some fans talk the way they do about him. Get behind him and the team and shut up!!

5.) If the rumours are true then every Spurs fan should be crossing everything to hope this happens. Bale is undoubtedly a world class player, but make no mistake Di Maria & Coentrao are world class in their own right.

Di Maria is in my opinion the most under rated player in the world. He is simply sensational, and is the best passer of the ball I have ever had the pleasure of watching. He will be a massive upgrade on Aaron Lennon, and having Lennon as a squad player will terrify teams in the closing stages if he is used with fresh legs.

Coentrao is probably the best LB in the world at the moment, as father time catches up with the legends of yesteryear. He will make BAE look very average and totally transform the team with his surging runs down the left flank.

I have felt that Dembele is lost in the deeper role, and Bale leaving will allow this world class player to play in the centre behind a world class striker in Soldado.

Those of you who doubt this deal, just stop for a moment and imagine this team next year.

GK - Lloris
LB - Coentrao
CB - Vertonghen
CB - Kaboul
RB - Walker
CDM - Sandro
CM - Paulinho
LM - Chadli
CAM - Dembele
RM - Di Maria
CF - Soldado

That team spanks Spurs of last season with ease. and imagine our depth with players like Gomes, Freidel, Dawson, Caulker, BAE, Rose, Naughton, Sigurdson, Holtby, Livermore, Carroll, Townsend, Lennon, Dempsey, Defoe.

Smells like Parker, Huddlestone and Adebayor have already left the building.

Soooooooooooooo excited, don't mess this one up Levy please.

6.) I really don't rate Coentrao since he joined Real Madrid. Would rather have Rose.

7.) Bale could have moved for the last 2 years if he wanted to, clubs were always interested but he stayed without CL football. Some people really are ungreatful, a player wants the best career he can have and to be happy, deal with it.

8.) All good and well if the players want to join. Di Maria as you say is world class, would he not want to be playing CL football? Same with Coentrao, best LB in the world and not in CL, makes no sense.

IMO if these players were offered they would delay the deal to see if another team is interested. Then we'd end up with a Levy special on deadline day, as a replacement for Bale.

9.) I'm sure Southampton made Gareth bale

10.) If Bale goes then expect Levy to get cash not players. Why would we want two players who may lack desire as they know they would be moving to a club with less desire. RM refused to sell CR & if we sell Bale then we are just admitting defeat. couldn't afford their wages either. Realistically I would rather have the £80+mill & try for Bernard & Dzeko.

11.) We can't afford DiMaria and Coentrao although I see no reason for them to stay at Madrid. it's all very well playing for a Champions League team but what about when you don't play in the Champions League and your biggest game of the year is as Bilbao or Espanol. I'd rather take straight cash and invest as we see fit -- hear Pastore from PSG might be a possibility. Would love the kid Lamela from Roma.

12.) Di Maria would be an amazing replacement. AVB could get him back to his best which is hot but I fear he would not want to come to tottenham, no champions league. Him and contreao + money would have been a good deal. I can't see either agreeing unfortunately.

Marc

13.) There are many players that Real Madrid has over looked who are brilliant.

Diarra, Gago, Canales, Van Der Vaart, Huntelaar, Sniejder, Heinze, Baptista, Robinho, Ronaldo & Beckham were all sold by Real Madrid.

They have many players in each position, and Coentrao could easily find his way back to the bench if Arbeloa, Nacho or Marcelo return to favour. DiMaria is forever fighting for his place against Ronaldo, Ozil, Benzema, Modric, Kaka and Callejon, not to mention Bale if he joins.

If Real Madrid sign the players they are rumoured to be after, I doubt Coentrao or DiMaria will get many games. Aguerro, Bale, Suarez looking like the three targets to add to the players already signed in Illarramendi, Casemiro, Isco and Carvajal.

I would be amazed if Di Maria and Coentrao didn't leave, and why not join spurs if we sign Soldado. Perhaps we can get Dzeko as well if Bale goes and then I challenge anyone to doubt our ability to win the league.

just read spurs are interested in mario gomez. levy willing to offer 7 million and 70,000 a week, I think it would be a good move for gomez and spurs.

welsh yiddo

1.) I agree, his experience would do spurs wonders and he still has a few years left in the tank.
Would be a smart and ambitious move in the right direction if we managed to snap Gomez and another young, hungry striker.

Now that Franco baldini has been appointed I can't see him Persuing Damiao any longer. It seems his not the type of director that will wait, wait and wait for a player to make up their mind. For that reason it put damiao back on the shelf.

Gabriel.

2.) 7mil for Gomez is a steal, he's worth 20 at least seriously he's that clinical

3.) I personally think it will cost more to secure gomez. Living in Germany, and watching the Bundeliga, the guy is the real deal.
If he goes anywhere though it will be on the continent, the guy scored 19 goals as a sub this year. His stats are of the charts.

sean

4.) Gomez would be an excellent signing for Spurs! A 7 mil bid sounds exactly like the kind of bid Levy would open negotiations with, although I suspect in reality we would be looking at 15-20 mil to get him to the lane. I would love for us to pull this one off! Gomez is world class.

5.) Hate to be cynical but levy won't spend 15 - 20 million on a 27/28 year old. We have this every year. We are linked with every player under the sun and end up with Dempsey. Don't get me wrong, we are in a good place and the players purchased last season were good. Holtby, Lloris and dembele all good but all under 15 mill. If we keep bale expect a couple of surprise signings of young up and coming players, in the mould of affelay, chadni but nothing else. As a club we are doing well but with Levi in charge and no sugar daddy we are looking at fifth place, fourth if arsenal mess up. We need to get over all this we will get him talk. It's fun but unrealistic and gives spurs fans a bad name.

6.) But hopefully levy needs to realise, and may do, that spending 15million on 1 or 2 27/28 years olds, may actually propell us forward in years to come.
Signing these type of players might push us on further, which in turn, attracts better younger players in the future and starts to build a challenging base for years to come.
Or, am I just stating the obvious, which levy seems to lack seeing every year?

7.) The obvious to most of us, but who are we, the persons who fork out year after year!

8.) 09 Jun 2013 14:46:15
arsenal messed up enough in past 2yrs and we managed to mess up even more as always.
Simmo

9.) I love that three people disagreed with my comment about levy not spending 15 mill but the intelligent people that have commented since seem to agree. I completely agree that one or two more experienced players could get us that fourth spot and truly believe that 20 mill spent this January or last on a decent striker would have got us that. We would have made the money back and more. Although as long as mugs like me spend thirty quid plus to watch us play on a Thursday night while levy saves money things won't change. Saying that I am spurs till I die and would pay to watch us in the championship.

can anyone seriously think levy will pay 10 million for 31 year old david villa?:

welsh yiddo

1.) I think he just might. After last 2 seasons finishes, he may realise that a player that almost guarantees 20 goals a season, may just move us forward in the next 2 years and we may reap the benefits in years to come. Just my opinion though.

2.) 10 is pretty cheap for a well known striker these days,,,, but with better scouting.

sean

3.) Yes why not new manager new targets, he's worth 10 million and has at least 3 years left in him and is classy

4.) This is what I thought until I heard it could be £8M plus add ons which sounds more feasible although abit toppy for a 31 year old.

The Rabbit

5.) I think villa is a guess from the press and it will turn out to be a surprise signing like Alex song or one of their youth players.

I'm absolutely NOT in the know

6.) Massive rumour going around is villa on loan for a season. He has one year left on his deal so at end of loan we either give him a contract or he is a free agent, which is what he wants.
This definitely sounds like a levy deal.

7.) We NEED this signing to happen quick. I know he's 31 but he will have a massive impact on the club (bigger than what vdv had)and has a lot of goals in him. 10mill is a bargain in my eyes. ok not much sell-on value but he will help a lot towards a champs lgu place. Dapz

8.) I think it's a bigger gamble than VDV with age and injuries but if he made a bigger impact. wow, yes please!

If bale is going to go can levy get it done quickly, can see it dragging on until the last week [usual levy tactics]tryingto screw RM for an extra 4 or 5 million and wrecking the start of our season and costing us 30 or 40 million when we fail by 1 point to qualify for champion's league.

welsh yiddo

31 Jul 2013 20:58:15
the moment of truth has arrived, Levy has a decision to make does he keep his promise that bale is going nowhere, or does he screw as much money as possible out of RM. If it is the latter, he must invest heavily on 2 or 3 top quality players and give AVB every chance of pushing on, also if he does decide to sell bale he must do it as quickly as possible and not on the last day of the transfer window.

with marca being the mouthpiece of RM and if they are confidentally predicting that bale, s contract has been agreed surely spurs could have them for tapping up bale, so much for our agreed special partnership.
