Time for a reality check; and to look yourself in the mirror

-We have all learnt that a Forward which is of high enough quality to guarantee goals would cost you around£86m.
>Even if you could raise the money, they tend to prefer clubs that are competing for top honors.

-Spending £20-30m on an attacker does not guarantee an instant impact,
>especially if they are joining from a different league.

-Players are only singular components of the Team; when we read about developing our "philosophy" its means we need to create a blueprint of how we want to play our football.
>Who expected Chadli to perform as he did on Sunday, could Townsend or Lennon score his 2nd goal?

-Our team is a work in progress, and we are now seeing solid examples that the manager is genuinely looking at each players attributes
>How can any fan say who should be sold, kept or purchased based the limited fact and data we see?

As long as the manager is supported by all associated with the club, we should trust he will do what is best
>He is the one who will be judged at the end of the season!

1.) Great post 76. For to long we have relied on individuals.

Yesterday albeit 1 game was a true team performance with a manager playing players where they are comfortable and with confidence.

Teams like Swansea and Southampton are proof that a team playing for each other and work ethic are just as importAnt as the players in the team.

Chadli, Kane, bentaleb, rose all look different players let's hope we finally have a manager who will get the most out of our squad in many ways like Harry did

Why are we reading that Athelico M are interested in taking Soldado on loan / while Spurs allegedly would prefer a permanent deal?

From all of the interviews I have seen the manager is stating that he will try to develop those players the club made huge investments to buy last season.

Personally I have felt Soldado has looked calm and settled during pre-season > which has translated into some good performances. Surely we will persist with him again this season?

Perhaps he is the most trade-able commodity, hence the media noise, while we have not seen one single story speculating about interest in Adebayor!?

Spurs1976

1.) Who would be interested in Ade? Over rated and over paid!

The reports suggest Memphis Depay will not move this summer;
Seems Mr Guilet and Van Gaal have both advised him against a Spurs move - if true,
Who would could replace Townsend?

Personally I think he deserves more time

If like me, you follow all the latest reports, you would of read parallel stories over the last 24hrs:

-Spurs had a bid accepted
-Spurs have a swap offer accepted
-Chadli refuse to leave
-Chadli is not wanted
-Depay is not for sale
-Spurs have not made contact

In amoung all of that is no doubt the truth!

Agree with the consensus that we cannot rely on the media to judge the health of negotiations. They are the ones stumbling along gathering information to try and piece together a story.

I am sure our club now has enough experience trying to agree deals for South American targets; If a sensible deal can be done I believe it will be, although this guy has not been part of our pre-season and would not have much time to settle before the season starts; so are there any better options?

Why is it that when I think about past successful teams; it is the "manager" that has shone as the lead character.

Will Mr Levy ever take a back seat and let a manager make his mark?

Its sad that the most conversations I have had over the past few years is about people coming or going, less about our football.

Do any of you have a real world job?
If so, in which business would a "senior management bust up" be leaked and posted onto a rumor site?!
Or is your friend actually Daniel Levy?

I do enjoy the speculation, but some of these posts say a lot about the people posting them!

As I remember it; the explanation give by Redknapp was that he sent Sherwood and Les Ferdinand to assess Sureaz. They reported he would struggle in the Premier League.

The rest is history

The fact our leaders decided to wait until they already sold 5 players; cashing 100m; might explain their "unwillingness"!

It is hard to negotiate a good deal now they would rather keep the players
