Twitter going mad for Shane Long. Apparently we signed him for £2m. In my opinion that's a bargain at £2m for a decent back up. Surely means JD is gone. Anyone know anything about this?
1.) I can't believe what I am reading, long in a Spurs shirt and there are fans which are happy with this?

Davo I completely agree with you, the more game time he has the better this lad will get, he is a very good player once sherwood plays him in the right position this lad will be awesome .i really hope he doesn't leave on loan as this won't help him at all . I was very negative on my last post so at the minute I am eating my own words as I was like most, very frustrated with the way AVB wanted to play . and thanks Tim you have started playing some really good stuff .hats off to you and thanks for bring ADE back!!
4.) Have to completely agree I think Lamela needs playing time and I personally think that him and Soldado upfront together would bring out the best in each other as they can both finish and create.
5.) The conundrum of when to play him . You get fired if you don't finish Top 4 and Lamela hasn't shown enough to be included week in week out . so play him in the "lesser" competitions and see if he can perform? At the top of the PL there is no time to let someone play 10+ games to find out if they might be good enough.cause if they aren't you just lost your job.
6.) So what's said about Soldado? Hardly set the EPL on fire!
Don't see why if soldado's played week in week out and can't perform why Lamela can't be afforded the same opportunity.
7.) Have any of them? Vlad looks like the best buy of the bunch so far . Paulinho and Eriksen starting to show promise, even Soldado with Ade shows signs of life. the rest hard to tell from what I've seen.
Then I look at how Liverpool are building what appears to be a winning team . markedly different approach to ours
8.) YELLOW CARD I think your missing the point and that's play them .why play them in the lesser games as you put it? out of the FA cup and the carling cup so what lesser games are you on about . the only way to find out if he is worth the price tag is to play him play him . this lad is gona be class .why spend 30m and not play him .IMO the one that stands out as not doing much is CHADLI!!
9.) It's easy to say just play them . Harry would have done that and maybe there is a case for that.
Ignoring the language issues alone, the upheaval of inserting 7 new players into a team/squad are suicidal as commented on by several other managers when we bought them all, and I for one don't see how the 7 new pieces fit together to form an effective trophy winning team - too much duplication of the same style/type of player, no PL experience between them are just a couple of the issues.
Without the benefit of seeing what is happening day in day out at training I can't determine why Lamela isn't played more . but 2 managers appear to have reached the same conclusion at this point.
Assuming what we hear is correct don't know nor understand how players get bought that a manager supposedly doesn't want . In my simple mind if AVB or now Sherwood can't agree with Baldini why would Levy sanction a deal?

Reading and hearing reports that a deal to bring Osvaldo to the Lane is virtually a done deal. I have been amazed by our transfer window so far and have made 4 brilliant signings, but I can't help but think that Osvaldo is a donkey. I have seen him a few times (admittedly not enough to passa real jjudgement) but he looks like another sulker. And read reports that he is a bit of a bad boy. In my opinion I would rather Defoe as back up, or shoot me down. Bent has pretty much completed a loan swich to Fulham. Surely a loan for bent as back up would have been better than the reported £15m for Osvaldo.
1.) If I was spurs I would leave him well alone and let him join southampton. {Ed008's Note - Osvaldo is a terrible terrible player I don't understand how he's rated by any manager..
2.) Don't know about bothering with Bent (although, despite his spell with us not being great, he has always scored goals) but agree on Osvaldo. A definite worry, presumably Ade would be on his way, having two unpredictable, sulky attitudes to cover up top wouldn't be ideal.

3.) I read somewhere that Osvaldo is definaltely a trouble maker. Apparently he was involved in a dressing room bustup where he punched/slapped Lamela. So would that mean that if he joined then Lamela wouldn't. I know who I'd rather play for us!

5.) ED008 at least you had the conviction to put your neck on the line, but don't you think you are being a little harsh on poor old Osvaldo calling him a terrible player?
He played 2315 minutes last season = 25.7 games and scored 16 goals and assisted two further. He scored goals against teams like Inter Milan, Ac Milan, Juventus & Fiorentina.
The season before he played 2088 minutes = 23.2 games and scored 11 and had 5 more assists.
the season before he had a major tear in an abducter muscle, and only played 1743 minutes = 19.4 games, and still managed to score 13 with a additional 3 assists.
I can see the same weaknesses you are probably forming your opinion upon, weak in aerial duals, poor offside awareness, weak crossing, and poor discipline.
Overall he is a decent enough player with good finishing and capable of scoring goals with his head and right foot. I personally would bedisappointed if we signed him as Coulthirst & Kane are better in my opinion, but calling him terrible feels like tough justice. {Ed008's Note - I just can't stand the player poor attitude,inconsistent and yeah he does score goals but's he's the wrong player if he proves me wrong I'll admit I was wrong but he is not the player needed my opinion.

Trust me lads your in for a treat if you get osvaldo, I would love him at saints, however he doesn't seem like an AVB player to me, however his workrates are also good, and a lethal finisher, anyways good luck for next season, your better than the gooners and I love watching your side plzy
8.) I too heard that Osvaldo and Lamela had a bust up. However, I heard that they did resolve the issue and they are fine now.

1.) He sure is. What a transfer season. Joe Lewis must have really given Levy a good speaking to. LOL
2.) Spurs defo had the best transfers of this season so far all class players to fit into your team good reckon you should easy finish top 4 this season (utd fan)
3.) And more 'activity' still to come. V excited. Just hope they bed in early.

5.) Cant remember when I was this excited at the beginning of a season, not just because of the new signings, but the real feeling of a "project" happening at our beloved spurs. With each purchase, you can see the reasoning behind the purchase and the solid structure of the team improving. COYS.
6.) I want to know does anyone else think real madrid will be back next summer to try and get whoever our star player will be this season. I really don't see the point in the whole agreement. who know if we get lamela they might try get him next summer or paulinho lol
7.) No I think it'll be a player who has been with us a couple of years already so I'm going to have a guess that Sandro will be the player Madrid want next.
8.) I'd expect them to come after Verts or Paulinho . Sandro needs to demonstrate he can play a couple of full seasons I hate to say without a major injury. Even Walker if he regains his form of 2 seasons ago would be a candidate.
9.) About time that spurs cancelled this so called "special arrangement", as it only works one way, plus the fact that they spend ages trying to unsettle the players even before they make any offers. They have done it twice now, and no-one complains, isn't it about time that Levy explained that agreements are supposed to work for both parties.

I'm sorry but that was just awful. Townsend was a complete waste of space today! He needs to pass or get used to warming the bench again! Dawson is slow and yes wears his heart on his sleeve but isn't good enough for us anymore. I don't know how long AVB will insist on picking him! Trust Krul to have a worldy but in general our performance was shocking. Not impressed!
1.) The keeper having a worldy should not make a difference to a supposedly top 4 team.
We simply are not good enough.

2.) And man city LOST to sunderland its a topsy turvy league at present arsenal lost to aston villa chelsea also lost to newcastle and didn't give as good a showing against newcastle as we did. Manchester United have also lost to west brom liverpool lost to sunderland so we are all giving up points or are none of the above a top four team either. loses happen especially when the keeper has a game like krul did, we are in the hunt and will get a top four spot
3.) Liverpool did NOT lose to Sunderland, Liverpool beat Sunderland, Liverpool lost to Southampton and Arsenal.
4.) Tbh Red Ant, nobody on here really cares! The point he was making was still valid. All teams are dropping points they are expected to win.

I tend to avoid this page after defeat because half of you lot just moan and winge like little girls. What happened to support your club through thick and thin
1.) What, like we have done for years and years! Unfortunately for you, this is a banter page, banter pages are for airing your views good or bad! If you don't like it, don't read it, use the on and off button!
2.) Carry on avoiding then mr mcyid as we like to air our views. as like real life when things go well you celebrate when they don't you question as to why it is a basic human idiosyncrasy. I love what we are doing and we will always slip up but support a team when its going well and also support the team when its not. if you want to comment on why you feel its not going well by all means do. if you want to bury your head and pretend its good by all means do just don't criticise those that are on here consistantly through thick and thin

Having an adult conversation on a sports team website involves all aspects of the performances, some will be good and congratulated and some will be poor and scorned upon. everybody does it, it doesn't mean you don't support your team it means your passionate, enough to give up your time to take part in these discussions and obviously this is the time to give and gain opinion. you may change your opinion having seen someone else's point of view. that is why I like this site so much.
it is like when england play (if your english) you support them through thick and thin when they win, brilliant but when they lose we slate them the press slate them we all have our say our opinion. but ome the next game you support them again regardless because it is in your blood to do so. well its the same with spurs I may not be happy after some games or individual performances but once its done its done and you are right behind YOUR team again that is real support regardless of whether they win or lose you always come back. but if you want to bitch about any aspect of the game that is your prerogative.
and as for booing and leaving early, do you really think I would waste my time on a site/page dedicated to spurs if there was any chance of that grow up, get real and think about it we are on here because of the love

Was at the lane tonight (as I am for every home game in Europe) atmosphere was very poor. Compared to the Basel atmosphere. Mind you, Basel fans are nuts and we upped our game for that and it was a 1/4 final. Tonight had a pre season touch to it with a friendly atmosphere and laid back stroll in the park. Playing against a team who aren't prepared to leave their own half is tough. But 3 goals and one of those a wonder strike from Eriksen, I'm satisfied. Could have been better but another win and clean sheet. Happy Days

Off to the lane on Thursday. But does anyone actually know anything on Tromso? Will they be any competition? Or are we expecting goals goals goals?
1.) Think it all depends on what team we put out.
2.) Got a feeling Lamela, Holtby, Sandro and Defoe will start
3.) Would love to see all those players start, and Chadli on the opposite wing to Lamela too. Would be great to see Chiriches get a start with Kaboul in defence! I would start Rose and then if the team is 1 or 2 goals up at half time give Fryers 45 minutes at LB too. Definitely should make use of the strength in depth

He is in the last year of his contract. Ajax know he won't sign a new contract so will accept a lower offer. I agree that our opening offer is low. But it isn't going to take a huge amount more to prize him away
