AVB still saying bale is not for sale. (Source: tv) surely bale cannot be sold, otherwise avb and co will not be the most popular people in London. He surely cannot go against his word, especially after this statement

Hope so!

Agreed, but he did also say ' that in football anything can happen'. I have said all along that I think we won't sell him. We will be far better off keeping him and adding few others, then we will be title contenders.
Agree15
Disagree7
It means Real Madrid going to be paying over 100 million in a one off cash payment and chuck player in or they can do one haha.
Lets see if they got the money, I hope levy tells them to get lost anyway
Agree7
Disagree6
He seemed pretty adamant that we will keep him, I think as long as bale doesn't do the same as modrić we will keep him. Avb was also spot on about ancelotti
Agree10
Disagree3
Take the money
Agree9
Disagree14
Avb has had his say publicly. Levy needs to come out and echoe those statements. I think he should come out with some proper sarcy comment like " you can have bale for 120million and we will take Ronaldo, benzema and modric Aswell, or shut the hell up Perez" then give bale the contract his agent clearly wants. He really does deserve that. Then add another striker and centre back and I think we can really challenge. COYS
Agree8
Disagree3
AVB I think he's the man! Real to funk yourselves! They still owe £20 mill for modders so where the funk r
They going to find £85mill from? It's all bull designed to unsettle bale, would rather sell to PSG for less mon tbh. An why isn't platini looking into there dealing under ffp or are FIFA to scared of real to do anything about it? In a country that's got mass unemployment and deep in ressesion how many jobs could £85 mill create
Agree8
Disagree2
Real want to pay in 5 installments, the first one being no more than 25m. This is the current hang up, Levy needs more upfront cash to sign the quality of players AVB wants. {Ed002's Note - It is rather more complex than that - try not do get wrapped up in the money.}
Agree3
Disagree4
Apparently we've agreed a £83m deal to sell him next summer- seems good to me? no doubt levy will change his mind then and demand more haha
Agree3
Disagree3
Clue: Spurs are owed money for Modric.
That means the transfer was paid in installments. Like all transfers.
If RM pay £100 million, then it will be paid over years. Not in one lump sum.
This isn't a manager game
Agree5
Disagree3
I love how AVB does an interview and a certain sports news channel has someone talking to sources close to Gareth Bale (over night) within hours to confirm he was not happy with the interview. Still no quote from Bale himself.
I wonder how much the betting arm of that sports channel has made this summer. sure Damaio made them a few quid last year, and the year before too.
Roll on 18 Aug, and let's see if Bale plays.

Agree DT;
This is a money driven game by journalist's and book maker's.
Let's remember these are the people who told us the signings of Villa, and Benteke were all imminent?!

Real madrid want to pay in instalments over 5 years

He's not for sale, but Levy says 125million or whatever number one cares to believe. Therefore he is for sale on the right terms. the only question now is can Madrid match those terms?

Did u even watch the game? I doubt that will be our starting 11 for the first game. Don't give up on your team now!

Outclassed at monoco cause it wasnt our full strenght team out we will have it out next sat in the friendly watch that game next sat cause that will be the team that will start at palace
Agree2

Not just bale missing at Monaco, look at the back 4. only Walker a realistic starter, the middle 3 no starters and the front 3. maybe but no Bale or Soldado. so pretty much our second Xi
Agree1
Disagree1
^^ posted on the banter page, including bale, 10 outfield players who would start against palace or be on the bench at least, missed Monaco.
Don't worry yourself too much about just bale missing the defeat. I will list the players again.
Kaboul, Verts, daws, bae, paulinho, sandro, bale, holtby, ade, soldado.
Now, I don't think we was just missing bale, do you?
Agree1

Re: "Levy needs more upfront cash to sign the quality of players AVB wants"
Very, very naive. All transfers are paid in installments. So if we sell Bale to RM and they pay over 5 years, then when Spurs sign a replacement, Spurs will pay in installments.
It's how transfers work. When Villa signed Bent from Sunderland, most of the fee went to Spurs. Because Sunderland still owed Spurs
Agree1
Disagree0
Fair enough but why put out such a weak team at this stage of the season against a side like Monaco?
Should he not by now be choosing his first team line up injuries permitting and giving them chance to gel before the first game. Also, losing 5-2 can hardly be good for morale whatever team he puts out.
Agree1
Disagree1
So where was our up and coming youngster centre backs? So if the worst injury situation happened in season as in
this friendly who'd be our CB pairing as this one was woeful
Agree1

You can only take 3 years now to pay installments.
Agree4
Disagree0
I get the impression that avb is aware of his starting starting 11. I think these pre season games are to select fringe players
Agree2

Cockney magic. Agreed but that is a PL league ruling, doesn't affect continental clubs. {Ed001's Note - it is an FFP ruling, as part of UEFA's FFP, not a Prem rule.}
Agree4
Disagree0
I know we probably couldn't afford his wages unless we got rid of a couple of the deadwood but maybe we should just ask for a swap of Bale for Ronaldo or end of negotiations.
Agree2
Disagree0
Really glad paulinho sandro and dembele have had plenty of pre season games to get to know each other. oh wait. also glad soldado bale and chadli have too. oh wait. its ok, its not like our most important game is in the third week. oh wait.
Here's to hoping the new boys hit the ground running!

Did you know they basically train all the time together, Tottenham have one of the best training grounds in the EPL, why would they not know how to play together by the start of the season
Agree1
Disagree0
With all due respect to you, whoever you are, training together is NOT the same as playing in a proper match. I know as I have coached teams for a number of years. The manager should by now be playing his best side in readiness for the first match, not still experimenting and messing about at this stage.
Agree1
Disagree1
AvB knows what he is doing. He can experiment all he likes, He is looking at who he wants to keep and who to sell before season starts. wouldn't surprise me if Scott Parker, Huddlestone, Livermore and a fair few more depart yet even possibly signurddson

Hi Eds, can you shed any light on a rumour I have heard which has us linked with a move for Matt Hummels?
A class CB IMO who along with Vertonghen would see us with the strongest CB pairing in the League with Dawson and Kaboul as back up.
Also is there any firm interest in another striker you know of? {Ed002's Note - Hummels? No. There is still shopping to be done - do not be surprised about interest in Willian and a couple of other players.}

Defoe swap with Remy deal to be annouced early next week. I know all about the court case, and am a big Defoe fan, but this deal is going to happen. Remy is regarded as a player of real potential, and will provide squad coverage after Adebayor leaves next week to join Besiktas.
With Soldado already in, Remy will have his work cut out for first team action. One might be worrying that we will be left with 2 strikers again, but when Bale leaves there will be another striker coming to Spurs, in the shape of Alvaro Morata.
Believable9
Unbelievable12
Remy did have a reasonable start for QPR and I remember one memorable goal but he fell away badly towards the latter part of the season. Overrated player and not really good enough.

03 Aug 2013 18:01:11
We won't get Morati there is no way Madrid will let him go
Agree5

Remy faded, but look at who he played for and the situation his team was in. With a better squad around him aiming higher than a relegation battle, he'll stay motivated and hopefully more consistent.
Agree5

Morati only if Real get a buy back option on him I suspect
Agree10

How about no morati no bale Real Madrid haha. sort the deal out 85 million and a striker nice!:)

How about we just keep Bale.
Agree10

He didn't fade any worse than definitely did! Deffo's season is finished at xmas
Agree1

If Madrid are not willing to part with Morata, that surely mirrors our stance with Bale?
Therefore stalemate, let's stay as we were!
Sick of this nonsense, Madrid can not even afford to spout off like they are superpower, they should be made to pay their bills before they go writing more big cheques!

There's absolutely no way Defoe would step down a division in a world cup season. If he leaves it'll be another prem club.
Agree5
Disagree2
Why you think a player like Defoe would ruin his chances to play for England is strange. consider the following points;
1. Would play every game at QPR verses a part bit role behind Soldado and whoever else we sign.
2. Would score many more goals in the Championship.
3. Roy Hodgson has picked players like Butland and Zaha from the Championship. With Defoe's pedigree he would still be in the frame.
4. Redknapp is certain to get press coverage, and this will keep Defoe in the news.
5. Defoe is actually 31 in October as the new season gets underway. He is unlikely to get Champions League football even if Spurs qualify this year.
6. He has a year or two left, and why not help QPR back to the Premiership, and probably be able to play for three or four more years if they make it. He wil be a folklore if he fires the hoops back into the Premiership, and even more so if he can keep them there when get return.
7. Fernandez and Resknapp are no fools, they will pay huge bonuses to a player like Defoe knowing he could fire them back to the top. So financially it might be more lucrative than you might imagine.
In summary I see every reason why Defoe might prefer QPR. Remy is a risk in return, but could be anything if given the right training and team around him.

After a few trips to watch Ajax play pre season friendlys and to mainly check out Christian Eriksen,
Reports are coming back linking us with Victor Fisher.
A young Dane with loads of talent who plays on the wings for Ajax.
No further movement regarding both players.

Rumours circulating this morning that we contacted QPR regarding Remy last night, feel this could be a great addition to the squad, for a cheap fee and can cover quite a few positions. Ed any idea?
Also any truth in Dempsey transfer? {Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about Spurs in for Remy. Dempsey is, as far as I am aware, not true, AVB likes him and was intent on keeping him, last I was told.}
Believable2
Unbelievable7
Spurs not interested in remy
Agree3

Dempsey is going. Eds, do you know any transfer news? Don't think you have ever got one right! {Ed001's Note - I certainly didn't get this one right, I really didn't think Dempsey would make way, considering what both he himself and a team mate of his said early last month about how AVB liked him as a player. Especially when the club is so short on forwards.}

That was abit uncalled for, no need to be so negative towards the eds they do what they can. Nobody gets things right 100% of the time.
Summary, if you don't like the eds info jog on!

All Eds. the insight you provide is appreciated. Sometimes I suppose doors open and things are done before yoh guys can get an itk source. {Ed002's Note - The Eds are asked questions and will call it as best they can at the time. Things happen and situations change all of the time. Different Eds can help in different ways but cannot be expected to know everything - who would have predicted Tomas Peciar's move to Greenock Morton?}
Agree1
Disagree5
Eds can't always be right. Maybe they sold him cause he is 30 now and they are getting their money back they paid for him and adebayor did play more than him
Agree1
Disagree3
If the Eds (or anyone else here) were able to get things right everytime then they wouldn't be helping to give what they know on a rumours site they'd be sipping champagne on their private island with the money they won from placing bets on transfers.
On the whole they do a good job and contribute with useful information. But they are not oracles. ;)

Hi eds don't know if this is true or not but just been told we are looking at 2 players at Porto any clue eds? Hope one is Jackson Martnez
SpursT {Ed001's Note - Mangala, Otamendi and Alex Sandro have all been scouted by Spurs as well. I wouldn't like to guess which of them would be most of interest, as all 4 would seem like a good fit for the gaps in the squad. Sorry, I haven't really helped much there, more clouded the issue with more possibles!}
