Word on the underground is that Levy is going in for Pato, can't see us paying his wages to be honest but it'd open up the doors for Tevez to join AC - especially after Ranieri has openly questioned the need for another striker at Inter. It also represents the marquee signing that has been spoken of. For me, Pato has the ability to be our Aguero but whether he'd come or Levy would stump up the cash required is another matter altogether. Anyone know or think there is any truth in this? Answers on a postcard...

{Ed008's Note - Not gonna happen. Pato's girlfriend is Berlusconi's daughter and he is the owner of Milan. Pato doesn't have to leave for Tevez to be signed, Tevez was being brought in as a short term loan for Cassano who is most likely out for the season after heart surgery.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

The Tevez deal to AC collapsed because Pato refused to go to PSG. Doubt he would come to us!

Agree4 Disagree1

By the underground do you mean "the journalist" cuz he's a bloody fool.

Agree4 Disagree0

No, I actually mean on the underground, Victoria line train from Oxford Circus to Seven Sisters yesterday evening. I have no idea who this "journalist" chap is, should I?

Agree0 Disagree2

Underground is where the dead and buried rest which is where this rumour should go!

Ed, any interest in soldado or huntelaar? i know there has been in the past, and imo either would fit the bill perfectly. both of them are natural finishers and put it in the net without fuss, i sometimes get the feeling ade tries to score the 'best' goal, rather than just put it in. plus with the amount of balls we fire across the box from bale bae lennon and walker, either of these would be in gobble them up

thfc2311
{Ed008's Note - Their's interest whether it's serious or followed up with a bid have to wait and see.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

If I met levey or 'arry IRL I'd plead them to go get huntelaar.

The more I watch the guy the more I think he'd fit us perfectly. One of these guys who shines in a quality, possession based, passing football team ala spurs. Plus he's a better finisher than our lot (as much as I like ade he really could finish more chances, always been his shortcoming imo)

Steed

Agree1 Disagree2

I could see huntelaar going to spurs if he was available as van der vaart has already told levy to get him

Agree0 Disagree1

How do you know what VDV tells Levy?

Ed, do you know anything about an offer for Torres by Spurs?

spurs guvnor
{Ed008's Note - We have not bidded for Torres 100% sure.

Hi Ed, i've heard a lot about Arry wanting to "shake up the EPL" but as time goes by i'm feeling less and less optimistic about a big january signing. what do you think the likelyhood of tottenham signing zero attackers/midfielders this season??
thanks tom {Ed002's Note - There will be a signing or two, but I think he will be looking at a centre back. May take a look at a keeper as well as there was interest in Carlos Kameni before his move.}

Anyone know if Adebayor can play at the weekend? im assuming he cant which begs the question who up front? i wouldnt play pav but would vdv and defoe work up front away from home, not too sure. maybe play the same formation as the norwich game but bring in jake for sandro and jd for adebayor??

rufus

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Defoe and VDV for me. i remember them to against Hearts, good combination.

Spurs Lad
p.s. adebayor can't play

Agree5 Disagree0

Parker should be sharper after playing against Wolves and some training so that's the centre taken care of with Luka. We can't go there and not take them on so Bale and Lennon must play on the flanks. Bale can have his occasional wander if possible/needed but I hope it goes back to occasional as he only spent about 5mins on the left-wing last Saturday, the right-back's nightmares of the night before never came true as he didn't have to mark him much! VDV will no doubt roam as well and it's going to be down to Defoe IMO to try to run down and poach any and everything that can be provided. Pav is like playing with 10 men for far too long in 90mins against good opposition, we cannot carry him for this game. I'd love to be proved wrong and he plays, holds the ball up and scores like he sometimes does once in a blue moon but that would be a miracle.
Daws looked leggy against Wolves, it was his 3rd game back in a week after months out so not surprising but I do hope Ledley can play with Kaboul for this one.
City didn't look great last night but those forwards can always score goals so we need to keep the rest of them occupied by keeping the ball, making chances and taking a couple. COYS

To get back to transfers, even if we win, the selection concern now shows how dependent we are on Ade. No matter what you say about his goal ratio, he puts in a shift in every match, is strong and hassles defenders, he can be unplayable - Pav doesn't do any of that and Defoe isn't built to do it all either. We need another striker and could finish above 3rd if we get a top one in. Easier said than done but Berbatov, Podolski, Damio, Drogba, Tevez.....these guys are maybe from possible to buyable and will be the best chance of hitting the ground running with some quality.

Kenny

Agree5 Disagree0

Kenny - completely agree. Remember though, cities song is blue moon, so maybe its a sign and pav will get a hat-trick!

King should be fit and sandro hopefully too

Spurs are close to signing Michelle Vorm as a long term replacement for Brad Freidel. Swansea have tried to reject any advances but a hostile bid of £6.8m will break their resolve.

Gazza

Believable6 Unbelievable14

Take a little more than 6.8m I suspect, concern about his height at just a tad over 6ft.

Pure speculation: But with Levy's inflated valuation of Defoe to Liverpool - might there be a swap deal on the cards for Andy Carroll ? (Harry was previously a fan and we reputedly bid £22m for him before Liverpool bought him).........just a thought, although I hope not a realisation!

Believable2 Unbelievable10

Andy Carroll was unproven when he moved to Liverpool and I remember thinking at the time please don't buy him Levy. We have seen the hype of many players including our very own Bentley and Rebrov of the past. Sure take risks and buy these players for £7 or £8m, but paying world class money over £30m you need to be receiving PROVEN world class form. Why anyone would buy Carroll for £35m when there were players like Higuain, Aguerro & Tevez available for less.

Defoe is on the other hand a great little striker than will do you a job. Swapping him and having to pay ££15-20m on top would be suicide. The simple fact is you cannot make mistakes and takes risks with £30m transfers or you suffer badly.

Marco

Agree13 Disagree2

HA. We wouldnt give liverpool defoe and 15 mil on top. straight swap at the very best. defoe a better player currently

Hi Ed, is there any news of interest in Jan Vertonghen or have Spurs turned their attention elsewhere (Samba, etc)?
The club seemed keen on vertonghen before the transfer window opened... {Ed002's Note - I don't see Vertonghen being available before the summer.}

I saw in the paper this morning that we have made a tentative enquiry into Vorm from Swansea, I hope this is true as he has proved that he can cut it in the prem, what's everyone's thoughts on this?

Badger22

Believable10 Unbelievable3

I do like Vorm, but Krul has really impressed me, and not only this season. I do think we need a keeper soon so that Gomes can go and Friedel can be their mentor.

Naz

Agree3 Disagree2

Don't need him until the summer, and would be more expensive in January,

the only players that should be bought in Jan are, Players who play in countries where this is their off season, ie brazil

players that are 'available for whatever reason' and it's an opportunistic purchase

ie. samba

players that will make such a difference to your teams outcome, that it is worth the extra outlay, rather than waiting 6 months.

ie Cavani

players that fill glaringly obvious gaps in your squad strength

ie a LB!

great player though

Agree0 Disagree11

Do you not think Benny is good enough or Rose as a back up?

Agree0 Disagree0

Rose!

zer0

Agree2 Disagree2

Benny is plenty good enough for 2 games then switches off, plenty good enough again for 34 minutes then he punts it aimlessly across the edge of the box, then he's good enough again for x games or x minutes but suddenly tries a Cruyff turn in the box to lose the ball and then gives away a pen trying to get it back. In other words....you can never tell what he's going to do next but at least he has some pace and skill to get himself out of a lot of trouble from not marking properly or being too casual. Danny played well in big games at left back at the back-end of last season but it's not his position really. Would rather we proritise a striker or world-class attacking player in Jan if we're going to do anything.

Milan badelji ... Has anyone mentioned him before ..... Really looks to me like Zagreb know How to create player makers .... A youngster 22 and looks more developed than modric is now ..... Not the best source but just videos of him online look very impressive ... Surely this guy could be modrics replacement * not that I'm asking for it * but should some team come knocking offering big money for modders maybe take the money and get the other kid in ? Just a thought

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Glad other people agree actually ... Wasnt just me

The BBC are reporting that we are again going back in for Llorente.

I watched him at the Lane in that last pre season game. Now I know it was pre season and all, but I didnt think he played very well in that one. His stats are good. But stats can be glossed up however you want them to be. After all, he does play in a poor league (if you take out te top 3 -4)

I guess what I am asking is this - Is he good enough for us? Would he bring anything new to our team? Would our heavy investment on this one player improve us?

What do you think?

Flippit.
{Ed008's Note - Good player but unlikely he'll join us unless we make a ridiculous bid for him and somehow get's accepted.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Yeah Llorente is the kind of striker we really need, he is a fantastic attacking header or the ball and a real presence in the box, but he has very good ball control for a big player. He is the player that could make our numerous corners count and who could get on the end of all those balls hit across goal that no one ever gets on the end of. He has 18 months left on his contract and has so far rejected Bilbao's offers of a new one
I'd love him, his weakness is that he lacks pace, but with the likes of Lennon and Bale around they provide the pace and he can provide the presence in the box

Agree2 Disagree4

Spanish Peter Crouch

Agree9 Disagree1

The fact that he can jump, head the ball without giving away a foul makes him better than Crouch.

I would like him at the lane and I think Bilbao would cash in on him this transfer window

Naz

Agree3 Disagree5

Agreed Naz. . .in part,

I don't want him but Spanish Peter Crouch is a bit harsh.

What do people make on this Yago Falque signing ? From what I saw he was a decent younger player ... But surely there is more in this than just him being a plan for the future ... I for one sense something else in this as I honestly didn't expect him
To sign till the end of the season ... Unless its just the club rate him highly as see enough there they went ahead earlier than planned ? *shrugs*
Would like to hear Other thoughts though
Bear yid
{Ed008's Note - He seems like a decent player, however by making the loan permanent transfer that free's up a loanee in so think about it possibly Krasic on loan ? any other suggestions ? it's the way im thinking.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

How about this for one with Milan wanting Teves could Pato arrive on loan till end of season or Etoo on short term loan, Fantasy I know but wouldn't it be great. I reckon it might be Amauri or Milito Harry has been banging on about experience after Henry & scholes return.
Espur {Ed002's Note - Etoo plays for Anzhi Makhachkala.}

Agree1 Disagree2

Yeah i suppose anything is possible in the last couple weeks of the transfer window...
hell apparentley all that was offered for tevez was 20 m .... i doubt city would accept a offer that low.... if they do surely it would be worth it to try also .....

also any kind of rough guesstimation on how much falque cost us ?

bear yod

Agree1 Disagree1

I think the Ed might be right on this. Juve are supposedly showing an interest in Corluka and maybe there's a possibility we get Krasic on loan with a view to buy, they buy Charlie and Falque gets some playing time to develop

Agree1 Disagree0

Bear yod Falque cost around £5M plus sell on clause I believe. As for his sudden purchase, leads me to believe we could get 1 of 2 from Juve on loan:

1:Krasic
2:Amauri

We have been linked to both players which HR rates highly. Out of these 2, I would go for Amauri as IMO he is better suited to Spurs. What do you think Ed's/ppl?

foxspur

Agree1 Disagree3

REALLY don't want amauri, and krasic hasn't overly impressed me either, but out of the two would prefer krasic a) to annoy the chels and b) cover/competition for lennon {Ed008's Note - Amauri is so shit rubbish even the Juventus fans have put him for sale on Ebay! Rather have Krasic he's much better than Lennon pacey and he can actually cross a ball.

Agree3 Disagree1

Ye know he plays for Anzhi u'd want to b lpiving in a cave for last yr not to, i was refering to Pato & milan I speculated etoo bcoz of pav link & russian lg having ended hence short term loan. Doesnt matter as it wont happen anyway.
