to be fair ed025, I think you are missing out on a bargain with the s*n paper. I mean I use it to wipe my arse on a daily basis and it is cheaper than toilet paper.

You underestimate the importance of Champions league football.
Arsenal being in the top 4, could not keep their best players without winning something, Spurs would not have a chance at retaining their best players without top 4.
120 million for Modric and Bale is an amazing achievement, the only downside to robbing a team like Madrid, is that when you want a player that is available they will look the other way in spite. Just as they did when they sold Ozil to us.
If levy was really a smart negotiator, he should have said, 20 million and Ozil and we have a deal. rather than stating 85 million for bale which is the deal of the century right now, but imagine if Madrid are looking to sell Di Maria, Benzema, Khedira and so on in the near future. If spurs come calling every player will have a 10 million extra at the end of it.
The way I look at it, madrid probably did not want to buy bale for that amount, but they put themselves in that position with the publicity they had to do it to save face, ended up losing their midfield yoda.
anyway i'm impressed with the spurs, 5 points behind us, with a squad still not firing on all cylinders, if they can do even better and keep pushing for the top 4, this could be the year they get into a position they have targeted for quite some time.
