With arry and qpr still looking for strike options, I reckon levi should offer them ade? Arry liked him, worth a shot? {Ed008's Note - Their in the Championship remember and although at times Ade plays like a League 1 player he won't go down to that league I would think he prefers Turkey

reports suggest fabio coentrao will complete a 13mil move to tottenham next week hope this is true.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Guess Levy got what he wanted in Miami if this is true, shame he couldn't convince Perez to the Ade back. that would have been major salesmanship.

looks like we drew dinamo tbilisi for europa league. They are the georgian champions but shouldn't be much of a sweat

1) hopefully unless we get a huge fee plus morata and coentrao I think, then replace him with lamela
2)would love to see eriksen brang to spurs as a creative option but if then the role will mainly be dembeles as a creator along with bqle and chadli
3)dzecko perhaps, great player love to see him a whl

Then if bale is sold bring in a new cb, preferably young and talented and were sorted

First time poster here with all this talk of Bale leaving (would like to see him stay) but why not make a move for Rooney he is coming into his prime years and with an arm around the shoulder from AVB I'm sure he could rediscover his form playing just behind soldado, with his team work and his work ethic he would give us that never give up never did sort of spirit. What do the rest of you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We couldn't afford his wages mate. Your spot on but can't see it happening.

Who's the Daddy now, Florentino?
Well, given that we've endured yet another day of interminable Bale rumours, it's time to take stock and see where we are as a club.
Personally, I think Spurs are doing a great job of reinforcing the existing squad, and the fact that Bale remains in a Lilywhite shirt only strengthens that. Credit for that has to go to Levy, despite the queue of people who are normally quick to criticise the man at the top.
But back to the Bale issue, I'm growing ever more confident that we will keep him. Why the optimism? Well, I can't be the only one who has noticed the shift in approach from Real Madrid.
The early part of the transfer window is best summarised by the usual Madrid charm offensive, with firstly, Zinedine Zidane, and then Perez and numerous other first team players complimenting the Welsh wizard. This was then replaced by a more pragmatic approach aimed at getting Levy to the negotiating table, confidently intended to be located in Florida to tie in with a Real preseason game.
But then the story changes. In some quarters, we have the two chairmen allegedly meeting in Florida and agreeing to differ on their respective valuations, with Levy insisting on £100m, and cheapskate Perez claiming £86m is their limit, notably without Morata's inclusion in any deal.
In other quarters though, we get wind of the fact that Levy didn't even attend the meeting, shunning the Madrid president at the last moment when he heard that Morata would not be part of any deal. Quite an achievement in time and space travel if you ask me - what with reports emerging today that Levy was actually in Dubrovnik to negotiate a deal for Croatian wunderkind Halilovic! Who to believe 'eh?
As we read the stories today, we see that Perez has now begun something that can only be described as a glorious retreat in respect of his annual promise to deliver the best players on the planet to his adoring Madrid fans.
According to the Real president, Bale is suddenly not worth the money that they had been so famously waving in our faces only a few hours earlier. The Madrilenos and key playing staff too, have suddenly decided that they no longer feel the need to spend such monies on a player that, outside a solitary Champions League performance, is and has not been on their collective radars. Suddenly the valuation has dipped to something like a more palatable £60m.
In addition, we as Spurs fans are aware that Madrid still owe us money from the Modric deal, and now are unwilling to pay a lump sum for Bale, but want to stagger it over 5 or 6 years? Who are they trying to kid? In my opinion, Real Madrid are a pen stroke away from being dragged through the bankruptcy courts. On top of that, there are rumours of an imminent European Commission report into their previous financial dealings and a possible loss of their special designation as a community controlled asset like Barcelona, which would also affect their advantageous TV rights they currently enjoy.
Put simply, the finances are just not there to field a bid for Gareth Bale, whether it be for £50m, £60m or Levy's £100m demands.
So why the shift in the Madrid position? Well, let's see. What else has happened in the world of the Madrid president recently? Ah yes, Ronaldo. Yep, the bronzed diver himself has, depending on the reports you read, finally signed up for another few years of adulation and untold riches. Don't tell me that he hasn't been watching the Bale developments with interest and perhaps a touch of jealousy? He is the undisputed alpha dog at Real and he does not want to see the order upset, plus he has all the vanity in the world to seek to make sure that his world record transfer fee remains intact. So, Ronaldo signs his contract. See where I'm going with this? Almost to the hour that the first reports of his contract renewal emerge, then the Madrid interest in Gareth began to wane. Has Bale been played like a fiddle by the Madrid management just to ensure that Ronaldo gets the message and ups and re-signs for another few years? That is my fear, but I'm glad to give Levy the credit on this one. He won't be taken for a fool, unlike the floundering Florentino who now has egg on his face over the whole thing.
Perez, through his actions and his press releases, has backed himself into a corner. He wants his Galacticos, says Bale is perfect for them, praises him to high heaven, gets this reported heavily in their local rag, then discovers that we dare to be unwilling sellers. Then the attitude changes. We are suddenly cast as the bad guys for daring to ask so much for our prized asset. The cheek of it!
To his credit though, Daniel Levy has played a blinder. He will hold out for the amount of money and the terms of any related payment that he wants, not what they want. That is why Perez is now resorting to all of his shenanigans, trying to save face and not have to admit that Real, as the self-proclaimed #1 team in the world, are unable to afford a player. Imagine the ignominy 'eh? All of a sudden, Florentino looks like the Daniel Levy of previous transfer windows, making apparent offers for top drawer players at the last minute and then not delivering. Feels good huh, Florentino?
Meantime, Gareth Bale himself has been awfully quiet on this front. Perhaps he realises how the move panned out for Modric. Yeah, it sounds good to say you have played for Madrid, but really, does he need all the grief that he will get if he doesn't score every time he steps onto the pitch? Levy, AVB and Baldini are doing their best with the additions we've made to date to look to make Spurs as attractive as possible to him, and I think they're doing a fantastic job of it. I can't help but keep imagining Soldado banging all those rasping Bale byline crosses into the back of a beleaguered Arsenal net! Through Levy's obstinacy, Spurs remain firmly in the box seat. If they pay up, we can finance a whole host of transfers and make a contribution to the stadium fund. If they don't, we keep Bale (albeit perhaps a little disillusioned!), and put ourselves in a strong position to gain Champions League status. He can sign the contract that remains on the table, and will still be a very rich young man without the pressures that would come from the move to La Liga's spotlight team.
Still though, I can't help but feel that Bale has been an innocent pawn in all of this, with Real declaring an interest in him simply to 'encourage' Ronaldo to renew his contract. (Quite how the two would operate together I do not know anyway, but that's another story. )
Anyway, watch how this all develops and we'll see how it pans out. Hopefully soon, like the end of this essay! If you've managed to stay with me and stay awake, then thanks.

PS. Perhaps we should run a sweepstake to see how long it will be before Real decide to terminate that 'oh so beneficial' sporting relationship we share, once their bullying tactics come up short. ?

Wow big bird, that was a lot of text to write out let alone read. Saying that I managed to get through it and think u make some very good points. Was dreading getting to the bottom and reading a certain sign off with a little mention of some young Brazilian striker.

Anyway, all I can say is I hope your right because with the team with have without Bale would be good but with him, who knows :)

Fair play to u sir, a well constructed post!

Top top post BigBird. Agree with your conclusions, and it is definitely a notable turn around to how just a few weeks ago Perez was saying that he'd easily splash out 85m on Bale to now where he is saying that it is far too much for any one player (even when he has already got such a player in his team).

I think the way to tell whether a rumour from the papers is genuine or just sensationalist bull made up to drive paper sales is the consistency of the reports. With Bale we had everything from £40m to £125m as the transfer fee, and anything from Di Maria, Contreau, Morata, and Modric as players coming to us in return, and every combination of the above. When there is such a wide variety of supposed deals on the table then I think we have to conclude that there is more speculation than fact.

If we do keep Bale (even if just for 1 more year) then I think it will do the prestige of the club a lot of good. Real Madrid and their cohort of tappers have made a lot of noise on the world stage about how good Bale is, and that is going to give us a lot of attention from places we'd not normally get such a strong brand recognition. No such thing as bad press and all that.

Definitely write more posts like this please bigbird. Hell most of the journo articles I see are not this well thought out.

So with the likely arrival of capoue (spelling) and already having Paulinho and Chadli, with only dempsey making way, who do we all think will leave now, I personally would like to see Livermore and Parker go and retain the Thudd, I would also like to see Ade go and another class striker sign and promote Couliaby to the first team, use him and Defoe in europa, F. A and League cups and keep Soldaldo and ANother for the league.

I think the capoue signing is a good bit of business, as the guy can cover a selection of positions and is equally as good in all of them, I think by signing him we have provided cover in 4 positions as he can play in CM, DM and CB which would then allow Vertonghen to cover LB if needed, so I don't anticipate a new LB being signed. My only worries for the season ahead are
1) Will Bale still be with us?
2) Who will provide the creativity for Mid?
3) We need another quality striker but who is out there?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Like to see us sign another striker may hulk from anzi fire sale or isigne from Napoli

coupe does give us cover in 3 depts. so could be ok defensively but much depends on bale. hopefully he will stay and we will have enough with the new signings otherwise we need more goalscoring options from midfield. Maybe a bold move for mata who jose don't seem keen on.

Why would Anzi sell a Zenit player to you?

Seems like good business.

Agree0 Disagree0

1. If the money is right & enough upfront (35-40) & rest of payments over 3 years I think Bale will be sold, hopefully RM won't do that & he'll stay. I can see either Willian, Eriksen or Dzagoev or someone of that style player coming in to add creativity to team.
3. I'd like like Kevin Mirallas to come in can play wide & upfront, think he's a fine player one of those that gets you up on your feet when he has the ball.

i think we should all give daniel levy a clap because I must say over the years its been hard but the way he is handling this bale situation shows why we have a great chairman. sure he may not spend much money but god damn is he good at negotiating. if bale stays we should chant. LEVY LEVY LEVY lol zidane said money wouldn't be a worry for bale and now levy is playing hard ball and madrid are backing away. no sunn spain for bale just yet.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not spend much money?? Know your club lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I would clap too soon about Levy. He didn't seel Modric to Chelsea after they submitted a £40m bid, so he keeps an unhappy player and sells him the following year for £8m less.

If he is not carefull Madrid will walk away from the Bale deal and then he will look a bit stupid. We will then have another disgruntled player, would have spent £60m on new players and have no money towards the new stadium.

Well done Levy

Agree0 Disagree0

To the 3rd poster, oh my god can some people never be happy. who said bale was disgruntled, how do you know our finances so well. I am glad its levy in charge because he never let's his heart rule his head a true business man. IF he has sanctioned a 60= million spend then we HAVE the money. he has proven time and time again his financial acumen to our frustration but now he realises that we are so close to the rewards of cl football ant the renumeration that it will bring, we didn't invest whilst harry was in charge as his limitations were obvious but in AVB he is willing to invest so good luck to him and I as a TRUE supporter of the club welcome the signings and I recognise the building of a new era down at the lane. SO FOR GODS SAKE STOP BLEATING AND BACK THE TEAM AS THE CHAIRMAN FINALLY HAS DONE

Dave, I am not a Levy supporter but I am proud to be able to say he is our chairman! It's taken too long to do it but at last he has done right by the supporters! He got us the right manager after Del Boy, and has now backed him in the transfer market and done it well. Not only that, he has stood up to the t***ers from Spain, and stayed firm!
Mr Levy, thank you!

Agree0 Disagree0

Davo I have seen your posts many times and I respect our insight to the club but what do you make of these signings financially, not particlarly the player. how come suddenly we are spending. Is it that we need to back a potentailly briliant manager and we can make champs league with one big financial push, or is it that we are spending bales transfer fee. my opinion is we are going for it because if bale stays and 1 or 2 signings come in I do think we stand a chance of more than just top four. the most exciting window for a long time, I am convinced a confident in our financial and physical position we will contend for silverware, your thoughts

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair play Davo he can be very very tight and I still cannot comprehend not purchasing a striker for the last couple of seasons but we are a well run club, so whilst he certainly doesn't always get it right he is doing us proud at the moment and like you say his biggest coup as far as we are concerned would be to hang on to bale.

Dave, sorry been out of country! I think Bale is going, should make him ask for transfer so his pockets don't get lined at our expense . I think it's a bloody disgrace what he is doing, and needs sorting . Just covering his arse in case transfer falls through!
I think the money has been there but Levy wasn't going to let Del Boy go wild on his ex hammers, so has faith in A V B .

Tom huddlestone at the vale hotel tonight ready to sign for cardiff city tomorrow. He will be introduced at an open event that cardiff city will be hosting at the stadium tomorrow night.

what do you think? cardiff might pay a premium so looks like we might have made a decent upgrade of huddlestone+1-2m for capoue. levy you're making me smile this window.
