I think a couple of signings could push us on for next season, i'd like to see Baines arrive, possible £10m deal, this could be financed by selling Rose to Sunderland for a reported £7m. A couple of strikers, one world class, Higuain would be ideal, Weimann as back up, keep Defoe. Ideally sell Adebayor, Livermore, Huddlestone. JJ, Gallas, Gomes and Bentley will be released when contracts are up and will free up wages. Promote Coulibaly to the 1st team squad. Keep Bale and I don't think we would be far away, with Kaboul returning too, he would be like a new signing.

Ain't we already sold JJ to QPR?
I agree that we should sell Ade, Gomes, Livermore, Rose and Gallas but I also feel we should sell Defoe. Think we should keep Thudd. he is good cover for Sandro/Parker, unless we sign moutinho or a player in a similar position if we do then sell Thudd as well.
We need to sign 2 natural strikers and promote Coulibaly, would love to see Baines at our club a fantastic LB. I still feel we need to sign a winger as cover for Lennon and Bale. But with 4 good quality signings (2 forwards, 1 winger, 1 LB)we should look good for next season.

Baines for £10 million? You're off your rocker if you think Everton would sell him in the first place, never mind for £10 million!

Ain't you spuds a deluded lot.
You think you can sell a dross LB for 7 million and buy one of the best LB's in England for 10 million pounds.

Lets hope that Shaq Coulthirst gets a game soon now that the prolific Defoe is injured! It ain't even a gamble, Defoe and Adebayor never score anyway so give the lad his chance he is a talent and can't do any worse than the other two. Its a shame Coulibaly ain't available.
The Everton game is far more important so I agree with the weakened team below, please no Livermore though.

F***ing typical! let's hope Levy's tightness doesn't come back and bite us on the arse!
Time for Ade to earn some of the mega money he gets paid, has done nothing so far this season. If not perhaps its time to play six in the midfield!

I don't know about you guys, but Sundays game against Everton is for me a lot more important than the game against Basel, if we beat Everton it will all but end their quest for a top 4 spot. I know we have a shout of winning the Europa but surely getting into next seasons CL has to take priorty. I think resting a few key players against Basel would be a good idea to give us every chance against a very good, organised and on form Everton side.
I would play against Basel.
Friedel, Naughton, Caulker, Gallas, BAE
Parker, Huddlestone, Dempsey, Siggs, Carrol
Ade.
Subs - Lloris (if fit), Vertonghen, Livermore, Defoe, Walker, Lennon, Dembele
I think this team would be enough to get a positive result against Basel.
Against Everton -
Lloris (If fit), Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Naughton
Parker, Dembele, Lennon, Bale, Siggs
Defoe
Subs - Friedel, Caulker, Huddlestone, BAE, Ade, Dempsey, Carroll
Just my opinion guys, but with our run in we need all our best players firing in the league, it going to be tough enough as it is without trying to concentrate on 2 competitions with the gooners, Everton and Chavski all vying for CL spots with us and we most certainly have the hardest run in of the teams and only the chavs and us have cup game to fit in.
I have faith in AVB and the team, that's just push on over the last furlong and get into the CL

Agree fully with your post but you appear to have forgot about Holtby?

Quarter finals of the Europa league and you'd play that team? Don't be silly, the team will be the exact same for both Basel and Everton, with only Friedel/Lloris swapping, as well as 1 CB and maybe BAE for naughton

Above poster, yes it is the QF of the Europa and you are right the teams will likely be the same if only minor changes, What I said was I feel the Everton game is more important and that the teams above are what I would propose to ensure maximum strenght against Everton, not what we WILL play.

The Don,
You are right I have forgotten about Holtby, I would like to see him start against Basel, in place of Carroll and then on the bench against Everton, I have not been overly convinced by him since he joined, looks full of energy and very committed but looks a little short on talent at the moment, I had watched him numerous times for Schalke and he looked very good, so I feel he will come good with more game time, problem at the moment is we don't have the time available to bed him in for league games, but feel he should get a run in Europe.
