Hi guys!

I come in peace from the United page.

I've just got a couple of things I wanted to ask you guys.

1) Bearing in mind, When Ronaldo was sold for £80M he was the most lethal player on the planet scored 42 goals from the wing, won the Balon D'or, Every individual award in England, plus the League and Champions League.

On that basis, if Real are silly enough to offer £85M for Bale, why on earth are you not biting their hand off!

If we're honest, Bale is a terrific player, but he's not worth that fee, hell Ronaldo wasn't worth that fee! even Messi isn't IMO.

I think if you accepted that £85M+ you could seriously invest in your squad and challenge for the league next year, as it stands, I don't think Bale is going to win you the league, 3 or 4 World Class players on the other hand might just win it for you.

Just thought.

My second though,

With the signing of Paulinho (a great bit of Business btw) who is likely to partner him in a 4-2-3-1?

You've got an array of defensive MID and Box to Box talent right now.

so, would you guys consider the sale of Sandro? - to anyone not just United. and what fee would you expect him to command (not in comparison to Bales fee ;D).

Personally, I rate Sandro INCREDIBLY highly, and although your business savvy yet incredibly annoying chairman probably would ignore any bid we made, He's exactly the sort of player we've been needing since Keane left.

If you're kind enough to reply seriously then great, if not then don't be a baboon and reply with something not very constructive.

The Moon. {Ed008's Note - Spurs fans can't decide whether to accept the bid that's up to Mr Levy..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sandro won't be going anywhere, as you said he is a fantastic box to box midfielder and will form a terrific partnership with Paulinho that will allow Dembele to push further up.

I would expect the spurs first XI to look like this

Lloris

Walker Kaboul Vertonghen Rose

Paulinho Sandro

Lennon Dembele Bale/Chadli

Soldado

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats a good team!

2 or 3 more top class players and I can see you really competing for the EPL.

----------LLoris
Walker---new CB--Vert---new LB
-------Paulinho---Sandro
new RAM----Dembele----new LAM
-------------Soldado

I rate Kaboul, although he's I don't think he's quite top class.

Rose, although looking good, isn't a great option compared to the likes of Baines, Nagamoto, etc.

Although he may well develop into an incredible LB.

Again, I like Lennon, but somebody more 'modern' in the style of play may be a better fit? someone in a Mata/Silva mould.

All these changes would depend on Bale leaving, and I've never seen Chadli play so I can't really comment.

This sort of build over 2/3 seasons would surely mean you become a Domestic force and European club.

opinions?

P. S - Ed, If it was up to you what would you do with Bale, sale for £85M+ or keep him?

The Moon. {Ed008's Note - I'd sell Bale if I was allowed to spend the 85m if I couldn't I'd keep him if Bale is sold for 85m I've wondered how much of that money will AVB be allowed to spend ? 85m is more then enough to add quality to the first 11 aswell as the bench players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone who would sell Bale is mad. Add Soldado, a quality cb like the Romanian we are being linked with who is top top quality and a young player like Halilovic and we are title contenders. Take Bale away and he would be impossible to replace no matter how much money we have. Bale is worth a lot more than 85m btw.

Agree0 Disagree0

To your first thought - I've heard a lot of people say someone is not worth this or that but not a single person has tried to say why. It's all just a position that they hold with no reason at all. So you say that his contract is not worth £80m+; well why isn't it? Your reasons must be very good and easy to explain because you state that this number is a silly amount.

As a pre-emptive counter, these are all the things that we would lose if we sold:

1. AVB - having been let down by his chairman for the project he is undertaking he would be attracted to the next big money move.

2. Respect - players like Paulinho have also been given assurances that Bale would not be sold.

3. Global presence - Bale is becoming a global brand beyond what Spurs are able to do themselves. His name will give the Spurs brand a global boost. How much money might this be worth?

4. Player draw - the ability to sign players without us having CL football is much higher with Bale in the team. My evidence is how players like Paulinho talk about him. Remember we may now have the BRAZIL world cup starting central midfield pair playing for us.

5. Versatility (given that we sign a strong CF) - last year teams worked us out and just defended deep as we didn't have a CF that could cause havoc in the box. It was supposed to be Ade but we all know how that went. This meant our greatest strength (speed) was nullified except against teams that tried to take us on, and our record against the top 4 (W3, D2, L3) showed how good we were at that. The only option we had to beat these deep lying teams was to use the fact that it opened them up to long range shots from 30 yards. We exploited that weakness as no other player in Europe scored more goals from outside the box as Bale did.

5. That heart shaped hand sign - ultimately football is an emotive experience. How much is seeing that gesture as Bale runs towards us having just put in another impossible belter?

6. Sending a sign that we are no longer a selling club : to anybody - it changes the culture of the team, the club, and the media attitude towards us.

£80m isn't sounding like enough now.

Our new signings (including Soldado - fingers crossed) + Bale = shot at the title. priceless!
d00gie

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Shot at the title? 30 points off the pace with Bale on such top form it can hardly ever be replicated? Shot at the top 4 yes, but pre season hyperbole can get you a little too carried away mate

Just for once, I would love a top footballer to come out and say they have no desire to lower themselves and sell their talent to the disgrace that is Real Madrid. Alternatively, I'd be entirely happy for Daniel Levy to tell Perez to do one and for AVB to leave Bale snivelling in the reserves until he realises that being an exorbitantly priced footballer in a bankrupt country might not be such a good idea.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I soooo wish he turns them down. Players need to realise that RM are a

disgrace & need to be stopped. The more Players that ignore their carrots, the more foolish they look. But pound signs speak more than ethics it would seem

Anyone else think it strange that the only people reporting the bid for Bale are Sky. Possibly just coincidence that Bale is fronting the BT campaign and their only real competition in years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Also they make a lot of money from so the more they can drum up gossip the more they can persuade people to take a punt.

Really a news station should not be allowed to be a bookies.

so real's opening gambit is 85 million.
apparently, its been on the table for a week, yet the press, despite their constant back page exclusives failed to know about it!
just shows what tripe they write.

a couple of things about this.
opening offer is 85 million. makes u wonder how high they will actually go?

and is there any way we can simultaneously bombard marcas internet page, with the hope it crashes? as some sort of retaliation for their constant rubbish and harassment

and zidane. another legend i'm beginning to detest. constantly chipping in with unwanted comments.

Well well well Madrid have bid for bale over a week ago, all coming out now, good old levy, staying away, play hard ball and if he wants to go I'm sure levy will squeeze every last penny out of them! World record bid will set us up for champions league football, although I would like bale to stay the money will build us a fantastic team

Spurs Fans, What happened to that 17/18 year old striker you got a few years back, Souleymane Coulibaly or whatever his name is?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He was sent out on loan to an Italian 2nd division team last season and is now back with the development squad. We are looking to loan him to an English lower league team the last I heard.

Surely Jesse Rodriguez +100M would be a sweet offer. Rodriguez has that 200M buy out clause and worths 20M ATM so at the end of the day we trading Bale in for +_ 300M :)
Chadil Soldado Rodriguez as a from 3 wouldn't be too bad

The South African

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And before everyone has a go, I am aware he just signed a new deal, but it would just be tit for tat.
Oh and 100M Pounds/Euros is over a Billion Rand. Thought I would throw that out there and that would buy 50M drafts/Punts of beer :)

Reading the news on tv that an offer has been on the table for a week now from Real Madrid but is a straight cash offer approx 85 mil maybe a little more.

Personally think its a great offer that we have to refuse.

Who are we going to sign

1 - prices will be inflated
2 - top players want champions league football so we will be buying up and coming players
3 - lots of targets have gone
4 - with bale gone we won't be able to attract as big players as if he stays
5 - they still owe us money for Modric so realistically how much of this 85 mil will we see immediately?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2013 17:03:52
I've just seen on SKY that Real have made a world record bid for £85m for Bale.

No players included in this deal, Apparently this deal has been on the table for over a week & Gareth is aware of this.

Hmmm - Mr Levy ask for £100m that's what we want end of & then let him go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it was 100 million Euros.

Agree0 Disagree0

We don't want him to go and it's all media rubbish stemming from Marca. Only a bid of around 200m would make Bale's sale economicaly positive for spurs.

Agree0 Disagree0

200m are you nuts? This is one person!

Read that Zinedine Zidane believes that their 'very good relationship' with Tottenham is key to seeing Gareth Bale arrive at the Bernabeu this summer.
Now their just taking the piss

Marca reporting Levy wants £126m for Bale. If that's the case and Madrid want to pay it then good luck to them. Look what City have just bought for that money!COYS

If it seems that I am looking for trouble I assure you I am not.

Do any of you guys understand that for a part-exchange deal the players being exchanged have to agree to a contract with the club they're going to.

For example, Di Maria and Fabio Coentrao both have to agree to contracts at Spurs if they were the players offered, otherwise the deal would not go through.

Now at Madrid I imagine they are on wages that could not be matched by Tottenham. They would also be taking a step down from Champions League football.

Therefore, do you think a swap deal is really realistic? Swap deals rarely happen anyway, especially in high profile deals like this one. Last one I can remember is 40m+Eto for Ibra.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Both the player and club have to agree on any transfer or loan deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Was thinking the exact same thing earlier, I highly doubt they would both want to join spurs from champions league football in Madrid so cannot see a swap deal happening, I think it is all paper talk. I would love Bale to stay and think that he will but if a cash only deal takes place for over £80mil can we turn it down?
If a deal does happen for the prices that are being batted around though we have to remember that once clubs know how much we got for Bale they will bump there valuations up for any targets that we go for.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sly Sports now reporting world record bid of £85m for bale, no players included

Agree0 Disagree0

I imagine that if it were just a case of wages that RM would end up having to pay the difference. It's clear that di Maria especially would not want to join us and that would only happen if RM really pressed hard on him to do so. That means he'd want a short contract and would scupper at the first chance. Of course we'd want to tie him up to a long contract to ensure at least a sell-on fee.

Swaps are really not easily done.

Agree0 Disagree0

As the bid has now been confirmed as 85 million with no part ex the above posts don't really matter

Chelsea fan here I think levy will be stupid not to take 50mil plus di maria and contareao plus you can get 2 more class player with 50milon so you you get 4 players to cover you all over the pitch I think u guys rely to much on bale, di maria will replace him and contareo will solve your lb problem
Just my thoughts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree but I doubt Levy would pump all the money back into the team even if a deal was done anyway.

If Real want Bale so badly we should say £50m and the 2 players of OUR choice from the team, not the two quoted as they are obviously not wanted.

Kalrez {Ed002's Note - That is not how it works.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2013 11:54:44
Come on kalrez. Their not going let you go okay and spurs go 50m+ ronaldo + ramos/ozil/benzema. I don't think that real would agree to that.

I'm getting really bored of these bale rumours, although I would happily take 85 mil as long as every penny is used to strengthen and replace bale. But have there been any quotes from bale saying he wants to leave? Because it seems to me that the papers just need some kind of transfer saga and they have picked bale?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If the Bale transfer falls through, and I'm sure that Bale wants to leave, I don't think he will give his best for Spurs, I think we should get all we can for him, and get on with preparing for the season ahead.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2013 09:26:10
I would be happy with 60 mil and di maria another player not seen too much of the Portuguese left back but others are saying he is v good.

Im slightly concerned though not to see either Kaboul or Sandro play pre season tournament. Have any of the ed's or any other fans got any info on when they are expected back. Seems v hard to find out info on injured players. Both will be key this season. As much as I like Dawson and the commitment he gives he is not good enough for top 4 and caulker is still learning

NorthernSpur

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I Believe Vertonghen will be back within 2 weeks, Sandro and Kaboul are both back in training but are behind in their pre season training

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers THFC. sandra and kaboul will be like 2 new signings this season.

Honestly believe if Sandro had not got injured last season we would have got 4th.

Parker has been a good servent but is past it and his distribution is terrible. Sandro is composed on the ball a great ball winner but his understanding with dembele was particularly impressive

Agree0 Disagree0

I know we we're looking at Sandra after Bents miss - Tell me we haven't signed Harry's wife.

I thought Harry brought Sandra to QPR with him. ;-)

Sorry NS. Too good an opportunity to miss.
