I feel carvalho would be a welcome signing having lost corluka, king and nelson with the possibility of losing gallas and bassong

What planet are you on , the guy is older than some of the centre halfs we are getting rid of ???????? We are trying to go forward , not starting to buy some of Arrys type of signings . Are you Arry , Sandra or Jamie perhaps ??

Arsenal fan here in peace, I just want an opinion from your side.

Essentially we're both at the centre of two of the biggest transfer saga's this year, in RVP and Modric, both of whom I imagine will leave.

What I was wondering is wether you guys really think Luka leaving is that big a deal?
And wether its worse than or easier than losing RVP? For me I'm divided, I hoped RVP would stay, as we've been loyal to him Through all these injuries, and after 8 season get one good one, then he shafts us! On the other side, he's never going to have a season like that again, he's 29, is only going to have 2 years at the VERY top, and we're going to get £15+ million for him.

My view of Luka, and obviously it's an outside view, is that it's gutting you've lost your biggest midfielder, he's a big part for you, and he's kinda like pirlo, does things you don't notice , which influence games.
However, I think it's good levy is firm over it (wish our board were sometimes) and if I'm honest, I rate Vdv higher than Modric, I think I'd he stayed fit for the same amount of time as Luka, he'd affect the game more.

Modric is good but not irreplaceable. And on the rvp strikers come and go wrighty, Henry, rvp you should give theo a go up there he's pace is devasting, remember Henry started on the wing

Yea. It's a huge loss. I hate it when I read he is underrated coz he doesn't score enough. Is that really all the game is about as a mid? U can tel we have lost the spark in our game since he has gone. Nothing is happening in the mid.
And to think he is "overrated", well think, the worlds best clubs want to offer 30+ mil for him.
He can't be too overrated can he...

First reply, yeah, a lot of gunners think theo should be allowed to play up top, he wants it too, we should just indulge him.

Second reply, I agree 100%, people say Modric is overrated but like I said, for me he's like pirlo, he makes it tick, does things you won't notice, he finds the pass to players like Lennon or bale that allow them to assist.
But like you say, he's not irreplaceable, neither is RVP, I think Giroud and poldi can take the burden for us, and you're linked with moutinho (who'd do well) but I think Diego from Wolfsburg would do well for you, plus he's available for like £7m.

You seriously think they are a good judge of how we are progressing? We've a new manager introducing a new way of playing and new tactics, we'll be 7 or 8 games into the season before we start to see how life's shaping up without Modders - if he goes that is!!

He isn't irreplaceable by any means. I think if we can get Moutinho in, then he could do a similar job. I do think that it will hurt Arsenal more losing RVP than it will us losing Modders. Sure Modric has kept the team ticking, but I think we have players or could get similar quality players for the fee, but RVP almost single handidly got you 3rd last year, and for the figures being bandied about, you'll not get anything near as good as he is.

As for the board, it's only this last season or so that ours has grown a pair! Arsenal's board has always bent over for the money. (our has previously, but that's changing now). Look at the transfers of Nasri, Febregas and Adebayor, they have clearly hurt Arsenal an this RVP situations looks like it could be a killer blow considering his influence last season with goals and assists. However, I think if Wenger can get out of Podolski what he is capable of but never really shown, and he can get the service he requires, I think you could have yourself another very good player.

I know a lot of people really want Arsenal to lose their best players and drop dramatically down the leage, a la Liverpool, but I prefer it this close, makes derby day much more nail biting!

Well Dom, I'm an arsenal fan first and foremost, but I'm a general football fan too!

Yeah, most gunners fans are at a point where we accept put board would sell the grass on our pitch for some more cash!
I think RVP us a bigger loss right now too, but I think Giroud and Poldi will do the job for us, especially If Santi Cazorla signs to create a few.

With the season only 2 weeks away, it's very worrying that we don't look like being close to signing any sticker,let alone 2.!!.not ideal prep for the new season.
