What is Glen re-incarnate Hoddle doing. urging Bale to join one of the Manc clubs. this guy used to be a spurs legend, the sooner he is reincarnated as a snail so I can stamp on him the better

NI Spur

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think what he was saying us if Bale is going to leave us then he would be better off going to either of the septic tanks (mancs) than to Spain.
Sussex Dave

Agree0 Disagree0

Dave he was URGING BALE To Leave

NI Spur

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this the same man that said England should forget about the 2014 world cup and focus on the next one. he should really keep his mouth shut.

Gabriel.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you read the story again NI Spur you will see that Hoddle said that Bale would settle better at another English club but would like him to stay at Tottenham.
Sussex Dave

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not Glenn, it's mystic Meg!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hoddle said England would be better concentrating on trying to win Euro 2016 and not the World Cup. He has a point, England are miles apart from the likes of Spain, Italy, Germany, Brazil so he was suggesting Roy Hodgson and England continue to improve as a squad and try and challenge these teams in the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't challenge for any honours whilst Roy is manager. Just not good enough.
And why do we take our good young players out of competitions to sit on the bench at friendlies, I will never understand. It can't be to savour the experience of mixing with the senior squad, they play week in week out with them.

It sounds like Paulinho is in the bag, IMO a very good signing, but will still wait until he is holding up our shirt. David Villa rumours seem to be gathering pace again, again IMO he would be a fantastic signing but will wait until its official.

I think even if the above 2 do sign we still need another 3-4 signing, LB, I think a bid for Kolarov (Man City) would be a good shout, Winger is needed for competition/cover, Affelay is available and would be useful and Honda can play across the 3 AM that AVB likes and is free, Creative Midfielder, Bernard is the obvious one, however IMO is of a very slim build and may need half to a full season to adjust, would like to see a bid for belhanda, scores goals from midfield and is available for a fair price, lastly we IMO would still require another striker regardless of who we sell, Damiao still seems to be linked with us but not sure he is good enough or whether he would want to play second fiddle to some one like Villa so it would need to be an upcoming striker not sure who though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Kolarov = no what are you thinking son!

Agree0 Disagree0

Honda free after new years as he plays in russia as well matee

Agree0 Disagree0

I think paulinho and villa would represent a great window for us! Letsnot get greedy an think we are also going to sign another 3 or 4 players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently Southampton are in for Damiao now!

@last poster, why don't you see us making 3-4 more signings? I think it's very possible we'll sign Pauliniho, Villa, another striker (someone young, as I don't see Benteke/Damiao wanting to fight for action against villa) maybe someone like Muriel, a winger and a left back. With all the players going out (again) our squad is going to be thin so major things need to happen.

(I'm aware Benteke/Damiao are young but with the first playing regularly will he trade that for our bench? With the latter wanting to impress prior to the WC will he want to challenge a proven European striker?)

Makes me laugh all these trawlers we keep getting on this page, saying Bale is not worth this or that and that he is oing to leave etc.

Surely a player is worth whatever someone wants to pay for them or whatever the seller wants to sell at?

So if Levy wants 100m or whatever and someone pays it, then Bale is worth 100m.

But in reality no player is worth the amounts of money they go for, at the end of the day they are only footballers after all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The funny thing for me is that if someone wants to buy something off of you and you don't want to sell it and they say publically "I don't mind paying £85m", well you'd be foolish to sell it at that low a price. If he's happy to pay £85m then you start negotiations a lot higher.

Yes it's crazy money, but as you said things are worth what other people will pay for them.

If Man Utd, as expected, get Baines, what would people think about a cheeky bid for Evra?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would rather take Alexander Büttner.

Agree0 Disagree0

Will end up at the squatters as he is a French boy, Oh how Wenger loves a French BOY!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger will bend over backwards to get his French boys in lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good shout Dom, would bring a winning mentality to our team. Probably better then all our current LB's.

Gabriel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Especially now it's rumoured he wants to leave if they do sign baines.

It looks very likely that we are going to close deals on paulinho and possibly David Villa which are 2 very good signings in my opinion.

The service Villa will get and the man management from AVB will see him be a stop gap striker for us for 2 seasons until we sign our number 9 for many seasons to come.

Only seen paulinho when he has played for Brazil but looks a solid midfielder who can be a threat from corners (an area I believe we need to improve).

Happy to give rose a chance at left back but still feel we need a centre back and a creative midfielder. Bernard has been talked about but I think more likely to be an up and coming creative midfielder we don't know much about like when we got Modric.

Hope Kaboul comes back this season with a bang he is quality on his day but we have seen so many times with players (e. g huddlestone) that players sometimes return weaker after an injury.

Love dawson he is spurs through and through but is he good enough? I don't think so. Caulker shows signs of becomming great but still makes foolish mistakes. So a solid CB who can cover LB is key for me.

Just saw. Post on another site.
Are man city and the like ruining football or are the oil rich money men being taken for a ride.
This is a good stat.
Paulinho is keeping fernandinho out if brazil team at the moment.

Paulinho 24 years old 17 caps 5 goals £17million
Fernandinho 28 years old 5 caps 0 goals £30million

Who is the winner there? Or who has more money than sense?

OK, so, there are people going on about Bale = £50m + 2/3/4 players, but let's take a step back and have a look at this logically.

Firstly, Bale isn't going anywhere this summer (the fact he has just had a baby with his other half I think will put a stop to any move just yet), I think we all know this, but the deals we're saying are IF by some shift in the equilibrium of the universe, Real do come up with an offer that we have to take and our beloved Gareth asks to go, then this is my thoughts, please feel free to tear them to pieces if you see fit.

We would need at least £40m cash + players or £80-85m cash alone.

If it was to include players. This is what I think:

Higuian - Going to the travellers down the road. Not a chance for us.

Modric - Was great for us, but do we want him back after the way he forced his was out. I don't want him back like a dog with his tail between his legs when we have people who WANT to play for the team

Di Maria - Perfectly viable option. Would fit well into AVB's system and would offer a real attacking threat

Albiol - Good player, but is he better than players we currently have?

Coentrao - A viable option again and one who would strengthen the team

Benzema - Would be a great addition to the team in a position we need to invest in badly.

So, out of the 3 players that I personally would like to come, Di Maria, Coentrao and Benzema, How many people wouldn't like to see any of them in a spurs shirt? But. Out of those, would any of them be willing to drop out of a CL team. I can't see it.

So I think it would have to be cash only, and with Real having just bought Isco, do they have £85m to throw at a player this summer? I'm not convinced. I think that IF an offer was proposed to us from Real, it would be £40-45m up front, a couple of academy players on loan and followed by £40m in installments plus first refusal on transfers. As much as some people hate Levy, he is too clever to let this happen.

I hope that this makes sense. It is purely my opinon to try and see some clarity against all of the posts and the moaning about the posts etc.

Sorry to waffle on.

As previously stated, Paulinho will be signing for spurs next week and terms have been agreed. These things don't happen overnight. Spurs have now moved on to secure their 2nd signing by opening talks with Barcelona to sign David Villa. I expect David Villa if terms agreed to also be a spurs player before next weekend. I do like the way Spurs are getting in early before teams can hi-jack the deal. Harry redknapp also left things till deadline day which is exciting, but in last few windows we have been made to pay. AVB likes to strike early and secure his targets. No doubt once villa and paulinho tied up maybe we will go after a left back or even another striker. Then that just leaves spurs to shift some players off the books that are no longer required

Believable0 Unbelievable0

'I expect', 'Avb likes to strike early' and other very knowingly arrogantly put comments.
Either you are the oracle or Daniel levy himself.
Which is it to be?

Im surprised there aren't more rumours about Scott Sinclair, I reckon he'd be a good signing for us? Good cover on the wings only 24/25 and could probably get him relatively cheap
d00gie

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We don't want this kind of player at spurs.
He went to man city for one reason. Money!
Did he really think he would start week in and week out. Not a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think there is a player in the world who moves and money isn't a consideration. I can't imagine Sinclair is on massive wages, and when city came calling I don't believe he thought, 'brilliant I can sit on my arse and get paid sh1t loads'. more like, 'ill get a pay increase, potentially win trophies, play champions league football etc. Its not worked out, he's realised that and wants out. I think he's be great for us.
d00gie

Agree0 Disagree0

He'd go from sitting in the bench rotting away to sitting on the bench rotting away? He can't get near the man city team for good reason and he won't get near ours

Agree0 Disagree0

No thanks. If he comes he'll be 4th choice behind Lennon, Townsend and Sigurdsson who all play wide.
He is a nobody Now, should never have left Swansea.

a web site saying we have Villa in the bag for 8 million a very good player but far too old to make money on which is very un-Levy like, much prefer Negredo and Sevilla say a "foreign" club has tabled an offer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't worry about levy making money.
The shirt sales and worldwide attention alone will more than pay for villa.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shirt sales? Don't clubs only make retail margin on what they sell direct? The main money made is from the kit deal itself which is done already. Maybe there are bonus-payments based on overall volume sales though?
Simmo {Ed002's Note - Correct - The money from shirt sales goes to the manufacturer, the distributor and the retailer, who can make extra adding numbers and names to the shirts. If the club are the retailer (club shop, club website etc.) then they get the retailers cut. The manufacturer (Adidas, Warrior, Nike etc.) pay the club an amount each year which allows them to manufacture and sell the shirts using the correct logos etc.. That is how they justify the money given to the club. So if you walk in to a high street store and buy a Liverpool or Spurs shirt - nothing goes to the club. There are a few clubs that have negotiated different deals with manufacturers (Real Madrid with Adidas and Barcelona with Nike are the two obvious examples) based upon joint reselling ventures. So the income from shirts is fixed to the £xM or whatever Adidas, Nike etc. pay the club plus a the retailer's cut for reselling through the club retail outlets (shop, web).}

Agree0 Disagree0

So you are saying, if a retailer buys 10,000 shirts for its shops and sells out, then orders another 10,000, the club receive no extra money? {Ed002's Note - They don't buy the shirts from the club - they buy them from the shirt producer's distributor - it is nothing to do with Spurs.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes shirt sales. It doesn't have to be per unit (even though there is a debate on whether numbers sold mean increased revenue) but a more high profile club, sells more shirts. Bring in world star players means more shirts sold worldwide which means bigger contracts with manufacturers and sponsors. Beckhams movements have been a prime example if that. It's why clubs are desperate to tap into the Asian market. {Ed002's Note - You just don't understand - Spurs are paid a significant amount of money by the shirt manufacturer which is the income the club gets.}

Agree0 Disagree0

For those struggling with this (and I don't mean that to sound condescending), it would potentially pay-off the next time the manufacturing contract comes up if shirt sales became much bigger.

if we could get di maria, coentrao and hig and 20 mil for bale. i'd take it hand and all spend the money on paulinho and villa. we would have some squad next season. . loris , walker ; kaboul ; vert ; coentrao ; sandro ; paulinho ; dembele ; di maria ; hig ; villa ; subs, lennon, holtby, defoe, dawson, fridel, caulker, rose, parker

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Stop dreaming and stop saying 'if'. bale is not for sale.

i've had enough of this Bale trade fantasy bs.

Firstly its not going to happen.

Secondly your 4guys+30m are ridiculous. Modric, Coentrao, Di MAria and Benzema/Higuain nonsense must stop. There is no way bale is worth over 100m and on the market those guys would easily fetch 80-100m depending on the buyers and competition. plus cash?crazy! remember robinho, they still got a british record fee when he wanted out.

Thirdly if it happens (most likely next year) we only want cash. We would reinvest in younger with potential, lower salary alternatives. Learn to love our philosophy, its got us this far. it got us a lineup a few acquisitions away from CLmainstays. and it looks like 3 years of transfer torture will finally be over with all the fine strikers being linked.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jun 2013 10:32:27
first of all the players I said are only worth 55 mil hig 20, di maria 20 and contrae 15 mil wages not to much of a prob with gallas, bently, bale and prob gomes all off the books, I never said anything about modric or benzema just said names of players that are being rumoured to be offered for bale

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the first post. People have become deluded and have started to make fools of themselves with this part exchange rubbish. and what makes things WORSE they include Higuains name who's already agreed a deal to join Arsenal.

Laughable if you ask me and I can't stick up for my person family when unrealistic, desperate posts are being put through.

Gabriel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did realise people just discussing there dream scenario would make you cry mate. Blimey

Agree0 Disagree0

Di Maria is worth ~25-30
Coentrao is ~20
Modric 25-30
Benzema 30m / Higuain 20-25m

-on the open market. Robben flopped at Madrid harder than any of those guys and RM still got 20m years ago. Be more realistic on transfer values

Its more about the responses to posts that say "just Modric, Coentrao and Di Maria + 30m? We would need Benzema/Higuain too!" OR the people that say Bale leaving this season is inevitable and we must get what we can from RM.

Hey Blimey. Find out why people don't like the oracle. that's why I don't like people talking about a dream as if its actually going to happen. And yes it seemed to have gone from dream to "possibility" by the amount of posts about it over the last 2 days from different posters, across multiple threads lacking the "unrealistic/dream" qualification

Agree0 Disagree0

Am I missing something here mate. The ONLY dream scenario would be to keep the current 3rd best player in the world and build a title challenging team around him.

As you know the club make a profit every single year so money is not a problem for spurs, so the 'dream scenario' in my eyes would be to keep Bale and add 2/3 world class players. Comprende.

Gabriel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Gabriel, it's starting to sound like people want Bale gone. Madrid could give us half thier team and 50m and I'd still be gutted to see him leave.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll be gutted when he goes, but if we continue to progress as a team he will be soon put to the back of the mind as long as he leaves in a professional manner.

I'd like to think he will stay, but at the end of the day someone will make an offer that is to silly to ignore and Levy and Bale will accept. Be it a Russian mobster or an Arab oil billionaire, these guys buy what they what when they want. the rules don't apply to them as we mere mortals comprehend them.
