Looks like Coutinho is on his way to Liverpool. I felt that we've missed out on someone who has the potential to fill the Modric gap. I guess our discontinued 'interest' with him was something to do with us in negotiations (still) with Schalke over Holtby. Of course I am hopeful a deal will be done in the coming days.

Think there is some work to be done on this deal he has no work permit he does not qualify thro international games played. seen better players have them refused..

After reading some bad things some of you fans think of hooper, how he's not good and all, it's good to hear from sir Alex that hooper has his seal of approval and is a true striker after watching Celtics last game. You would be lucky to get him as he will score for fun(with the better skill passes in epl) as well as for the England squad. Just because Celtic took and found the better player(ex carrol 35mill) dosent mean they are not good just because of the league, wanyama will be a star player for one of the top Europe clubs already shutting down barca and inter with easy with juve next on the list, is he not worth 10+? The scouting has been something special with Celtic and we just want true epl value for pouching players for 5mill when they can really benefit a club is not going to happen anymore.
Just because a club scouting is top notch dose not mean the player is worth nothin given the league, look at Rhodes whent for huge money yet unproven where as hooper is cl striker scoreing for fun. That goes for any league.

I remember Utd were after Alan Hutton before we signed him and what a cracking signing he was.

I'm a Scottish Spurs fan and I'm not disappointed with the Hooper rumours. I don't support the old firm but follow them in Europe. Hooper is a finisher and probably as good as Celtic have have had since Larsson. I don't think he would settle straight away in the EPL because of its pace but neither did Modric. Could be a good buy depending on the price but don't think he'd adapt in time to affect the CL places.

Any chance of getting Berba back ?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

5 months ago maybe. Now absolutely no chance. Even if we wanted him, why would Fulham sell their prize asset?

How about a bit of Modric and VDV resigning? It's obvious Modric isn't enjoying Madrid, I'd have him back in a heartbeat. He's a class player. And VDV only left to Germany to be with his wife who worked there. Now they're split up... Perhaps a cheeky deadline day swoop?

Just speculating.

I'd love to get vdv back, should never of sold him

More like just dreaming

Dreaming - maybe; but I'd welcome both of them back. Should never have sold VdV I agree, and I think we miss his guile. As for Modric, yes his time with us did not end smoothly but he was consistently one of our best players and a proven premiership player. There's no such thing as loyalty in football now so let's not make ourselves a victim of our own pride. I'd HATE to see him playing for a rival.

Now he has a bit of PL experience, is it worth putting in a bid for Bentenke ( spelling ? ) from Villa ! They are on the way down, has proved he can handle himself, scores goals, young, Vert must know all about him ! Much better buy than Hooper who I wouldn't give 3 million for !

Just been reading on tv Gossip that we are edging ahead of Norwich to sign Gary Hooper. Is this a good move? Having deemed Dempsey woeful against United on this site just before he scored, I am a bit reluctant to offer an opinion should I once more get berated!!!

The Coutinho rumour was started by a Liverpool fan, he claimed that Skyitalia had said that spurs had a bid accepted. Its nonsense. Its a bitter Liverpool fan getting kicks because his living in the 1980s club is inferior to Tottenham. They think we go for all their targets! Doh. Yeah that's right because any target Liverpool goes for how on earth could anyone else be in for that player too? How do they know that we weren't in for Sigurddson or Dempsey before them, other clubs tried too. To be honest though I don't blame Liverpool fans for having an inferiority complex.

If we were to go for Coutinho no doubt he would choose us.

We all know football has gone a little bit stupid, but the day Liverpool Fans
get an inferiority complex concerning
Spurs then that's when I think it will have really gone off its head

If we stay injury free till Thursday I can't see anyone coming in as I think our targets are for re summer and will all revolve around bale staying or going

Well with Newcastle buying any thing with a pulse would'nt mind a cheeky punt on trying to get Ben arfa or Yohan Cabaye both quality players and would be good for spurs. Yiddy68
