cash only deal is being brokered by Baldini in madrid. RM look very likely to settle bale transfer by mid next week. Baldini hard person to deal with and looks set to deal in for around 93m no player swap involved. tot have there target and want cash to settle them. william to sign tomorrow lamela agent in madrid also so deal for him looks good also looks likely. heard tott have intrest in bakkali so maybe he maybe also on way. man city were intrested though london more likely

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Am I the only one thinking why didn't Madrid just go for Paulinho, Soldardo,
Chandli, Capoue and maybe willian and lamela themselves and perhaps they might catch Barca!

Agree0 Disagree0

No big team came in for those players! They don't rate them good enough and overpriced hope that answered you question!

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you say paulinho was half price of fernando man city and chadli cost 7 million ish for a real promising winger ha ha overpriced jealousy I think also capoue was 8-9 million overpriced only to a gooner or the like

Agree0 Disagree0

Facts are no champions league team came in for them! WHY?

Agree0 Disagree0

Some CL team from ths season will be replaced by us next season. The fallacy that only CL teams can sign top players will be disproven this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

But that was said last year! And the year before and the year before! And was said in February!

Have we won the lottery or something? We could have a completely new team against Swansea. I can't see the Roma kid coming for that much. They probably enquired about him as a back up if willian deal didn't come off Well done levy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh yes he will. En route. Yea!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hello i'm Hector Riva welcome to my euromillions world Spurs fans! AVB said in talks with Willian but after defender and attacker as well!

I know this is a crazy theory, but I have a feeling that perhaps AVB and Levy have decided that this if Spurs have any chance of winning the league in the next few seasons, this is the season in which to do it.

There have been big managerial changes at Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea, whilst Arsenal aren't the force they used to be and Liverpool are still rebuilding their squad.

I'm not saying that I think spurs will win the league, but with the squad we're assembling, we should at least be able to put up a fight. I feel like if we were to keep Bale, it would be a real sign of intent.

Just an opinion, but I'd be interested to see who agrees {Ed008's Note - Here's my theory behind it I think Levy and AVB expected top 4 last year and then they would make the step up for challenging for the title this season no top 4 this year has led to Bale's departure and I'm sure he would have stayed he's possibly leaving and all these quality players are being signed to make that challenge on the title. Spurs were in contention for the Premiership I think about December/January then injury occurred then it became challenging the 3rd/4th position I think they have a very good chance a midfield 3 of Sandro,Dembele and Paulinho is one of the best in the league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My 2 concerns currently are backup to Soldado and our back line. City look stronger than us at the back, though i'd take Lloris over Hart, and up front they have better options to cover Aguero. Our midfield is at least the equal of theirs if not better on paper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct me if i'm wrong edds, but can't willian play up as a striker? would he be seen as the starting attacking mid/striker cover. {Ed008's Note - All across the attacking 3 and can play upfront..

Agree0 Disagree0

That's the thing with avb.he likes players who can play in different positions so the team is versatile.
hence, our attacking options don't rely on only soldado.
b/s

Agree0 Disagree0

Will take a little while for this team to gel but AVB also likes to bring people in slowly, we need to grind out some results whilst the team gel.
I'm hoping capoue starts with paulinho and dembele this weekend think sandro isn't quite there yet but would really like to see those three, give paulinho more freedom and let him be used for what he was bought for, and also push up dembele who I think will be more effective further forward, we will soon see though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think this is a big push to get the players in before money splashed out on the stadium no more spending in the next couple of transfer windows unless were very successful

Here is a thought everyone stating bale going cause we ain't got the money, what if levy and Avb plan on selling Lennon to inter, William on the right, lemealo? On the left bale as floating striker, adie out Defoe out, in with Kane and Townsend as understudies Lennon has pace but no end product, just a thought . maybe this is levys rabbit out of the hat, have a feeling bale gunna stay, think stadium a year plus away must have maximum publicity and champions league no good having good stadium average players and average team look at arsenal oops sorry . we have been saving an seriously planning levy is that good he has brought Christmas forward for us spurs fans to August

Believable0 Unbelievable0

NO WAY would I want lennon sold. He's one of the best at 'skinning' an opponent and when he learns how to cross/pick right option, we should be scoring for fun- as he can be a right chance creator. not to mention that he'll up his game so that he doesn't lose his starting position to willian/lamela

Agree0 Disagree0

Have benn waiting four years for Lennon to learn to cross a ball its like waiting for a huddlestone goal very very rare .

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon is a charm. Spurs have never lost a game which Lennon has scored in

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha that's funny, but Lennon rarely scores so that's not much help.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does pop up with some big goals occasionally and links well with Walker (or occupies opposition to release him instead). Never looks his best until he's fully match fit and/or with a run of games under his belt, then he is top draw.

Hi Ed's

I'm reading that we have revived our interest in Vlad Chiriches, I must say I hope we sign this lad, from what I've seen he is quality I real class act, Last I heard he was going to Italy possible AC Milan. Do you have any further news on this one Eds.? {Ed002's Note - Nothing really.}

21 Aug 2013 16:27:21
Am I the only one who thinks Spurs should be trying to get De Rossi, Roma have financial problems, letting key players go, De Rossi isn't exactly young, would be quite cheap but his wages would be a lot but still be a quality signing!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why do we need him? Think our midfield is well packed with quality now!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes think you are the only one who thinks that,
i hope that lamela signs, great young player and has bags of potential.

Top transfers this season with hopefully, Coentrao, Lamela, Alderweireld / Chriches and Helivolic to come.
Kinda hoping Levy's Swan song on the Bale to RM transfer is to specifically request a written transfer from Bale for the deal to go through. Therefore reducing Bales cut £££

ED I thought it might be interesting if we posted a scientific rumour projection, based on logical facts to see what we come up with.

We all know about the 25 man squad ruling, with 8 players of home grown talent. If we make some assumptions like Bale & Adebayor leaving, it becomes much clearer.

1 GOMES
2 WALKER
3 ROSE
4 KABOUL
5 VERTONGHEN
6 PARKER - Now Vacant
7 LENNON - Inter Milan?
8 PAULINHO
9 SOLDADO
10 ADEBAYOR - Besiktas?
11 BALE - Real Madrid + Coentrao
14 HOLTBY
15 CAPOUE
16 NAUGHTON
17 TOWNSEND
18 DEFOE
19 DEMBELE
20 DAWSON
21 CHADLI
22 SIGURDSSON
24 FRIEDEL
25 LLORIS
28 CARROLL
29 LIVERMORE - Vacant as on loan
30 SANDRO
32 ASSOU-EKOTTO - Fenerbahce?
35 FRYERS
WILLIAN
COENTRAO

So assume Willian arrives which looks a done deal, and Coentrao is part of the Bale deal. Adebayor & BAE both look likely to join Besiktas and Fenerbahce respectively. Then assume that Lennon will join Inter Milan after Willian arrives, as we have the talented Townsedn as cover at RM.

The squad will then be 23 players with 8 home grown additions. This will mean either we sign 2 more players in addition to William and Coentrao, promote two players from youth like Kane and Coulthirst, or two of those rumoured to be leaving will actually stay.

If Coentrao is true I cannot see a place for Assou Ekotto, so this sort of resolves that aspect. Either Coentrao won't be part of the Bale deal, or BAE is leaving if he is.

I am reliable informed that Lennon has clearly stated he wants out if not guaranteed a first team selection at RM, and is not prepared to fight for a place. AVB on the other hand is committed to signing Willian, so the Inter Milan exit looks ominous.

That leaves Adebayor who in my mind is a certainty to leave, it is just a game of chicken with Besiktas.

Clearly we therefore have 2 spaces, and it is clear that AVB likes Coulthirst as a player for the future. So it is likely that we sign at least one further player in addition to Willian and Coentrao. I therefore expect Lamela to closely follow Willian into White Hart Lane.

Just to cover the financial doubters, I thought it might be worth doing a rough mathematical balance sheet.

Capoue £9, 680,000
Chadli £7, 172,000
Soldado £26, 400,000
Paulinho £17, 358,000
Coentrao (Part Exchange + £83m)
William £25, 800,000
Lamela £30,000,000 (Estimate)
Total expenditure = £116, 410,000

Revenues:
Parker £3, 960,000
Huddlestone £5, 104,000
Livermore £264,000 NET Loan
Caulker £8, 052,000
Dempsey £5, 984,000
Adebayor £6,000,000 (Estimate)
Assou Ekotto £6,000,000 (Estimate)
Lennon £21,000,000
Bale £83,000,000
£139, 344,000 player revenues.

Seeing as Levy said we had over £40m in transfer funds available to spend, our net spending would still minus £23,000,000 if you believe all the rumours and numbers. Even if we kept Lennon, our sending would still be net neutral for the window.

Who ever said that life without Bale would be bleak, this side can win the league, and Top 4 looks a formality.

Lloris, Coentrao, Vertonghen, Kaboul, Walker, Sandro, Paulinho, Willian, Dembele, Lamela & Soldado.

Squad: Freidel, Rose, Dawson, Naughton, Fryers, Capoue, Sigurdson, Holtby, Carroll, Chadli, Townsend, Coulthirst, Defoe.

The perfect balance between experienced top quality players, and hungry up and coming stars desparate to show their worth when given the opportunity. I have always wondered how good Defoe could be as an impact striker from the bench when legs are heavier, and with player line Holtby, Capoue, Dawson, Fryers & Rise we have steel to lock ourmt games when we have them won. Carroll, Chadli, Sigurdsson and Townsend provide amazing options, and I cannot wait to see Coulthirst burst onto the scene.

The future for Spurs is amazing, and Arsenal must be quaking in their boots this year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And most of our signings need to prove themselves to become established players in the world cup next year . surely an added motivator.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whilst your post is interesting, players under 21 don't need to be reg'd in the 25 man squad list. Also your figures seem to be pretty specific can I ask where you got these from?

Also if Coentrao does sign I think we will see Rose leave as he has already stated he wants first team football regardless of who its for.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think £6m for BAE and £21m for Lennon is overly optomisitc. I think we'd be looking more at £4m for BAE and £12m for Lennon.

Either way, a very good post, and if you have a look at the Arsenal board, they aren't very happy.

It has been said however, that they have been together for a year already and we still need time to gel properly. We'll see what the season brings.

Over £20,000,000 for lennon?

I have just heard Gareth Bale has handed in transfer request in!

He is worried about getting first team football this year due to our recent transfer business

;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He expects to recover from the broken toe nail before the end of the season then? ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Where is all this talk about Lennon leaving for Inter coming from.?
Personally I thought Lennon was getting better each season. He may find himself on the bench now. Assuming Willian signs that is which to be honest looks very likely now.

Anyway unnamed poster £21,000,000 for Lennon. Jesus man. Where the f**K did that valuation come from.

ED I posted that Lennon was being sold and Willian would be joining Spurs a few days ago, now that Willian has suddenly joined, I wondered if you would be kind enough to post this on the main page.

AVB is fed up with the work rate, fitness, crossing ability and goal scoring ratio of Lennon. Walker is being left exposed having to make up for the attacking flair on the right, and Willian is seen as the option to replace him. Townsend is considered a much stronger option, and the inclusion of Lennon was merely to keep the transfer to Inter set at the most profitable terms.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

AVB must also be fed up with the fact that Lennon did almost all of Walker's defending for him last season. Also must be fed up that he is one of our longest serving players and must be so fed up with him that he was captain against Lazio. Also I think he started as he was the best option and justified that by winning the penalty.

i can't believe it as a spurs fan but I can't wait for Bale to leave. for some reason I wouldn't even be bothered if he made a u-turn and decided to stay.

sad that we are losing our english nature but its nice to get a lot of new blood in.

supposedly willian has signed the contract and all is done.

Is Spurs going to sign another center back?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Rumour has it we're back in for Criches

Wait until after their game on the 27/28. If we are going to get him, it will be near deadline day. I'm guessing they want to secure the group stage qualification against legia then they can sell.

Sorry glade we have signed good players and r still trying to add to our team but levy has said bale not for sale this year looks like he is about to go back on his word to us fans with bale I think top 3 without maybe 4th dose levy and co know that with our team plus bale no one wants to play us but as bale is off everyone fans from the pl are giving it large can't wait to face spurs
SpursT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ummm where have you been for the last 2 weeks . I think we have moved beyond Bale as a team with the additions and the impending additions. Don't know if the fee for his sale is funding the deals or not, but if he goes we are still a stronger more rounded team than last season. If he stays then we are even better.

Hi all. Gunners fan here in peace. I have to say you guys are really building a strong team this season. Even if Bale goes I think you will have a much stronger team than us which pains me to say. Looking forward to the derby but a lot more nervous than previous seasons.
Anyway. all the best for this season.lets hope in an ideal world we both get top 4 and push the dirty mancs down lol

People are NOT happy on the Arsenal page. The worst thing about it is, I can empathise with them in their situation. Made profit after profit, year after year and not being spent on quality established players. Sounds all too familiar. If they don't strengthen, derby days won't be the same.

Don't get me wrong, I love the fact we're getting much stronger than them, but I really think there should be better business happening at the nomads to make it more competitive.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Derby games are like cup games. Anything can happen, anyone can win.
Don't get too far in front of yourself yet Dom.
Even if they don't sign anyone, they still have a habit of hanging around.
Your post has a certain arrogance to it. I hope we all don't fall into this trap.
Remember 'mind the gap', we all fell foul to that one.
Lets just see wot happens and crow only when the time is right.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wasn't planning on sounding arrogant. It was a message of empathy to the fact that they aren't building a squad they have the facilities for. And if you speak to any Arsenal fan, they will all agree that we are looking a lot stronger than them.

I know, anything can happen. One big signing for them, a few injuries for us, it could all change around. But the strength in depth this year, I feel is on our side.

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's not forget their team has been together one full season already. We look likely to have 5 or 6 starters that are new to the club . Getting them all bedded in and playing instinctively together will not happen overnight.

Willian posted a photo on instagram with two guys in what looked like a restaurant, titled. dinner with the best agents in the world. I think deal is probably 99% done. Cracking player. For those of you saying he is overpriced. It looks like we are getting £90m+ for one player. The transfer market is out of hand right now so £30m for Willian is good business. I mean let's take Liverpool and Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing for an example of bad spending haha

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Twobit team spurs, always have been always will be what with your massive empty trophy cabinet. F**ck all again this season i'll bet. Many a mickle doth not always maketh a muckle. Enjoy the spending, its the only thing your good at! Theuglygeordiegenius

Tbh I am we'll chuffed with this window, we have strengthened the whole team even if bale goes I think we can be top 3 but with Willian and lamela ( fingers crossed) and contreao being part of the bale deal we have a great chance of the league! The only downside is who the hell am I going to get on my new shirt? Soldado, vertongen, paulinho, sandro, Willian, lamela?? At least bale was only 4 letters to pay for!
