'Nearly' is not good enough. Nearly is failure. Spurs have failed this season. 5th is too bad for Spurs. NO funds from not qualifying for CL, less investment in players and definitely Bale too will be gone. Most annoying, the other top teams will be improving more than Spurs. Levy.

Desperately disappointed to lose out again to the Gooners by one point. Have to give them credit for taking 26 of their last 30 points where we only took 18. I pinpoint the loss to Liverpool when we gave away two dreadful goals as crucial. I also think that our home form was poor. In particular losses to Fulham and Wigan and draws with Norwich/w Brom/Stoke proved to be very expensive. Levy must take a share of the blame for not bringing in a quality striker in January particularly as Defoe's goals had dried up and Ade just was not performing. If we are to become a serious challenge for top four in the future, we must address our poor defensive record over the last four years. Arsenal were poor at the start of the year but it was their defence who mainly carried them through in the last 10 games. How many 1 to nil wins did they have. If you don't concede goals then you will not lose.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Adebayor started to perform in the Chelsea away fixture, most probably to try engineer a move away from the lane.

Disappointed with him this season, he is an immense talent and just didn't show it until it was too late!

Agree0 Disagree0

Don, too much negativity. Arse last 11, Since we beat them, won 9, drew 2. They beat us by 1 point.
We got our record points total in the prem. a points total good enough for 3rd last season. We can't do any more.
You bring up the games we didn't win, what about the games we did win against both manc clubs and the gooners?
We are almost there, we just need a bit more luck, we have had our fare share though with late goals.
If we keep our core, we ARE there.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not think it is too much negativity. If we do not address our glaring weaknesses ie. our poor defensive record over the last three years, our inability to put away poor teams, and our average to poor return in the run in ( compared to the teams we are in competition with) for the last two years then we will never get to where we want ie. top four. I am a 100% Spurs fan for years but I am not blind to our weaknesses. I am not afraid to sign my posts either.

Is anyone here happy with todays 5th place finish? I certainly am!

At the start of the season of lot of fans on here were not happy with the appointment of AVB and were calling for Harry to come back.

I said we need to stick by him and give him a chance, his record in Portugal was phenomenal, he was unfortunate at Chelsea and like most managers, wasnt given time to build 'his' team to play 'his' style of football.

After the sales of Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart we wondered where our season would go, many wrote us off and said without these players we would disappear back to being a mid table club. Our start under AVB wasnt great but we went on a fantastic run and 3rd spot looked like it was going to be ours, but we suffered injuries, players away on international duty and our form dipped.

But we still had a strong finish to the season, yes we dropped points v Wigan and Fulham and we only missed out on Champions League by 1 goal. I think with the right investment this summer ( a striker please Levy!) we can be up there again chasing that Champions League spot!

Have a great summer everyone!

Im 100% Tottenham, how can anyone be happy with 5th is beyond me. We should of got at least 3r but we didn't and 5th is sickening and only a loser would be happy with 5th. Arsenal fans are pathetic, they say they ain't bothered about us and yet all they have been worried about is us and thjt they are such a big club and yet they celebrate finishing 4th like they have won something.

Agree0 Disagree0

Short memory eh? (or new fan) Remember where we were 5 years ago and where we are today, and we're definitely on the way up with the team we're building, manager, training ground, and new stadium to come soon. that's why we're happy with 5th, we know we just have to be patient. On the other hand arsenal used to challenge for the ECL and PL title, now they are happy with just finishing above us. Oh how their standards have fallen.

RY

Agree0 Disagree0

"Oh how their [Arsenal] standards have fallen. "

Maintaining Champions league football so as to pay for a brand new stadium was crucial for Arsenal. In the economic climate it's a miracle that they are where they are having only spent £9million net in the last 8 years or so. With that debt soon cleared and new revenue deals secured don't be surprised to see big changes in ambition and spending. This is why they were celebrating, because they know that having secured the extra revenue from Champions League football, additions will be made, and next season the pundits will be saying how they expect Arsenal to win trophies!

We try to win a European trophy and it costs us. So fair play to woolwich.

Arsenal fan here in peace hard luck lads it was an exciting year between our two clubs nearly had a heart attack today. You lot have a quality manager and like ourselves are just a few quality players short of a challenging team good luck next year hopefully not as much as ourselves ;) and in my opinion you lot will keep bale he seems like he loves playing there for your fans.

I'm worried for next season now. Europa League won't be enough to tempt the very best of players. AVB will be a good siren, so let's hope he stays. But with the likely departure of Bale (I cannot honestly think he'll stay another year) and the doubtful capability to sign players of his calibre. Maybe I'm just being tetchy. Surprise me Levy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have todisagree I don't think bale will be leaving for both personal and football reasons and if he does stay there will be the combined effects of having AVB, one of the best training facilities around and just getting to play with bale. All these things will be enough to attract real quality if levy is willing to pay up.

If Levy/ENIC support the manager we will move forward. if not i'm afraid we will be watching l'Arse from below for many years to come.

Bale is 23, just had a superb season and said how great his team and manager have been. His girlfriend has recently given birth to their first child. Would he give that up, and uproot his family for a chance at Real. to follow Modric? Barca are not the force they were. Manchester United are an unknown quantity without Ferguson.

Why not wait one more season, if given assurances Spurs will spend?

Let's wait and see what happens. Unbelievable that someone 'hears from Barca and Madrid' within 5 mins of the final whistle. DT. {Ed008's Note - I know right?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yep it's not often we can say we are a settled team/organization with a respected manager when the alternatives United, Madrid, City and Chelsea are all in flux. Barcelona appears to be on the down also for now. Just have to watch for the likes of PSG and Munich showing interest. Munich would be the one that would worry me the most right now.

Being an Arsenal fan I am happy that we have finished 4th. But I have to say you guys gave us one hell of a fight this season, and it I would be lying if I said that I was sure we would finish above you.

Honestly I would have liked us to finish 3rd and you guys to finish 4th, with the Chavs finishing 5th or probably dropping further. Here is hoping that the next season will be as exciting for both the north london teams as this one.

All the best!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Faith in the internet restored. Kudos good sir.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea fan in peace. Sorry you missed out you deserved to qualify for champions league. I think bale will stay, why would he leave unless he went for the money. You have the best young manager around, and with a couple of additions will be up there with the best. Being a Chelsea supporter I am worried about what you will achieve. With the amount of bad luck you have had in the past two seasons, you must be due one hell of a bright future. Keep your chins up I think your future could be very very good. Dave

They scraped a result to seal 4th and they won't shut up for a moment. Are u this sad? What makes u think u deserve third more than Chelsea who deservedly got SIX POINTS from Arsh*tna and Spuds? Show some respect u person.

Agree0 Disagree0

Themonk certainly doesn't speak for all of us Arsenal fans, I was ecstatic to see you guys miss out on Champions league football, that's rivalry though and I'd expect you to feel the same if we missed out

Agree0 Disagree0

The numbers speak for themselves and and as far as respect is concerned, I ain't afraid to say even ad a gunner that I respect Spurs and AVB more for what they have achieved within their means than the stupid Chavs and their owner who fires managers after every few months and has got their fans used to buying silverware rather than really winning it.

As an Arsenal fan I would still want us to do it the right way rather than paying 50 mill plus for players and still not winning the league.

Respect and Legacy is what truly makes a great club, not the financial muscle!

Unlucky all season regarding penalty decisions, good season, on don't think we are meant to be in the CL. First bad lasagne, then chavski winning the champions league, and now the highest points total in premier league history not to get in the the CL places. Gutted. Role on next season! This is what I think the team should look like:

Higuin
Mertens Bale Lennon
Dembele sandro
Baines vert kaboul walker
Lloris

Subs/reserves: Defoe, ince, siggy, daws, caulker, naughton, Dempsey, Carroll, sergi Roberto, Parker

Personally I was very dubious when AVB was appointed along with the disappointment of the first few games in the prem. AVB turned it round massively and we have ended up with a record number of points. I just hope now that all involved with spurs keep the faith and we make the biggest signing of the summer (keeping bale). Even if we don't keep him then let's hope the money is invested wisely.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 May 2013 18:26:45
I could be gracious in victory. But St. Totteringhams day only comes round once a year. Arsenal got a lucky win? What game were you watching? Could of been 3-0 by Full time. Bye bye Bale, wish him all the best in Spain. Let's see if you can attract Moutinhio, Damiao, Villa etc without CL football.

How far the Arsenal have fallen, once a team challenging for the top prize and now finishing above us is all that matters to you lot. On the flip side a regular mid table side, now regularly top 5 and improving, no wonder this is classed as an achievement in your eyes.
Fair play to the Arsenal but I think this shows the balance of north London is changing. Keep celebrating an achievement which should be conceived as failure for such a "big side"

19 May 2013 20:24:09
How far Arsenal have fallen, don't kid yourself son, when you build your much needed new stadium and are still selling the likes of Berbatov and Carrick to Utd along with the likes of Modric and Bale to Real Madrid. let's just see how many times you make top four shall we.

Yes you were lucky, your goal came from a freekick that shouldn't of been and then off their goalkeepers head (martin fulop mk2). You had no shots on goal until the 2nd half and you are lucky almost everygame whereas Tottenham are unbelievably unlucky every season.

Na na na na, Na na na na, Hey hey hey, Goodbye Bale!

In all seriousness though we have to be realistic and say it's more likely he'll leave then stay at this point. I guess we'll just have to say thank you for a terrific season for now. On another note I hope Levy doesn't do anything ridiculous like sack AVB. He's building something here and needs time. Till next year, of winning the Europa league and qualifying for the Champions league!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd like to think we'll keep Bale, but I think we all have to be honest and say he'll likely leave. shame, but with the money he'll bring in and the money we have we can still make real improvements to this squad. too right on europa though!

Rthe results this afternoon, I for one would say well down abv, selling rvv, modders, hardly any striker, sandro and kaboul out most of the season, I for one am already lo oking forward to next season, a few abv buys, a manager who gives the team and not himself the plaudits, who would have thought we would win at old trafford, yep we have had some rubbish results, but from my point of view, its onwards and upwards, coys and conutd. barb
