just found out sherwoods taking the kids to benfica what the hell is he doing its our last chance to save our season win by 3 goals we will be in the quater finals its pointless saving them for the league we are way off top 4 so I thought he would have gone for it tomorrow pointless watching it now that why sherwoods got to go

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Name me a starting eleven that is fit and available without the kids.

Agree0 Disagree0

Valley, we have no chance even with our best team! Sherwood is clueless, tactically inept . We do have a bad injury list, but we are going out and Sherwood is finished ( hopefully ) thank god, so let the kids have their day!

Agree0 Disagree0

With no plan and no regular players we will pull out a magnificent victory! Sandro will play in a 1 man defensive unit stopping all before him until the 73rd minute where he gets sent off. Without the expectancy that the full backs will be covering anyone, Benfica's plans will be left in tatters before the Beast. That will allow us to play with 3 wingers on each side (Eriksen, Chadli, and Siggs on the left, Townsend, Lennon, and Walker on the right), creating a barrage of crosses into the box. Soldado will stand on the penalty spot with his back to goal following the manager's plan to have one go in off his backside. Bentaleb and Kane will compete with each other for the highest bleep test score, running around from one wing to another. 8-0 to us. COYS!

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't be such an person Wulf.Walker isn't playing haha

Agree0 Disagree0

NOOOOOO! The plan is ruined!

Agree0 Disagree0

What no plan B? Are you AVB?

Agree0 Disagree0

Plan B? What sort of courage and bravery does that show to doubt your first plan? We need leaders. We need people to stand up and be counted and give their life for the club and run around a lot no matter where they are played!

Plan B? No Fank You.

Agree0 Disagree0

Please behave Wulf, or I will throw down my gillett, force my eyeballs out of their sockets and dance like an absolute maniac in the other teams technical area! We will then see how brave their manager is!

Well if we'd have had a better result against Benfica last week we'd have soon been crashing down to earth anyway.

Out
Ade
Kaboul
Vert
Dawson
Capoue
Chiriches
Lamela
Sandro
Walker doubtful
Paulinho

Believable0 Unbelievable0

LLoris apparently stayed home also.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walker stayed home to so he is definitely out. What is it with injuries with us we are cursed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Walker apparently may need surgery, we'll get to see Naughton at RB for a good run see what he really has.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't expect to much yellow card! Anyway Sherwood will probably play him in midfield!

the more I watch shane long he reminds me of a young robbie keane i'm suprised spurs didn't go for him as he was only 4 million and I also like the look of fabian delph from villa 2 cheap buys that will do a decent job for us what do you fellow fans think?

Delph looks half decent but villa wouldn't let him go for under 15 mil

Agree0 Disagree0

A couple of decent games from Delph in recent weeks after being rubbish for ages, don't get too carried away. Is he really better than Bentaleb? Hang on, bad example, he wouldn't be any better than Capoue if he was actually fit and given a run.

Of course we need the right manager next season and that was never going to be Sherwood. And of course the new man will need the authority to reshape his squad, which will mean spending money. But money has not been the problem.

We have spent £165m on players in the last two seasons. I know that has been entirely funded by sales, but we didn't sell so we could buy: we sold because we had no choice.

Our problem is that players of the class of Modric, VDV and Bale are hard to replace, however much we are prepared to pay. When I looked at the strikers that were available last summer, I found that none of them would necessarily have improved significantly on what we have.

I would also ask who people think we have missed out on because we were not prepared to pay the asking price? Who are these players who would have ensured Champions League football in the last few years?

I think our real problem is the exact reverse of what many fans seem to think. We have wasted our time looking at high profile 'names' when we should have settled for players who were better than what we had without being the best and who solved a problem, while trying to find the promising players who might be stars in the near future.

For example, why didn't we try to sign Sturridge? With Liverpool in the frame he might not have been interested, but I thought he was exactly the sort of player we should be trying to get. He looked good, was proven in the Premiership, I could see how he got his goals, he was young and he was cheap enough not to be a disaster if he failed.

But Sturridge wasn't the sort of player that excites fans. They want Galacticos.

But real Galacticos won't come to us until we are an established Champions League club, so if we pay Galactico money, we will get the likes of Soldado and (probably) Lamela: players who show a touch of class here and there, but aren't really out of the top drawer and know it.

What do Oscar, Mata, Lukaku, Ramires, Navas, Negredo, Jovetic, Nasri, Toure, Silva, Balotelli and Tevez all have in common?

They were all cheaper than Soldado and Lamela and none of them would have signed for us.

Last weekend, I watched our 2008 Carling Cup Final against Chelsea. One player who really impressed me in that game was Robbie Keane. His work rate, his pace, his strength on the ball, his close control and his goals that season put him well ahead of anything we have on the books now.

But he wasn't a Galactico so his departure wasn't mourned.

{Ed008's Note - AVB liked Sturridge i'm sure he's a player he would have liked to bring to WHL but could you see Chelsea selling to Tottenham? Not happening..

Lamela is top notch, how many minutes has he played for us? Not many.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Spurski, Lamela is worth waiting for . KM, centre forwards we could have had, you only need to name one but good old Arry thought he was too small for the PL, Suarez! He would have come with no problem!

Agree0 Disagree0

AVB played sturrige on the RM NEALY RUINED HIS CAREER,

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have taken Sturridge or Berbatov, neither Galacticos but could've definitely been enough to get another 2pts from Jan-May last year and be in the Champions League.
