Spanish newspaper AS have reported on their website this evening that Tottenham manager Andre Villas Boas has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave if Barcelona make an approach for him. The Spanish club would have to pay a set fee of 14m but, if AS are right, should they do so then Spurs would be powerless to prevent their manager leaving.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think he will go, clearly he's not being backed in the transfer market! Villa gone, benteke gone, Negredo gone, jovetic gone, Bernard's of to the gooners, damiao's staying in brazil. Soldado do is available but levy will fook that up by bidding peanuts! We lose AVB we will lose bale as well. The worst thing is its the same every year!

Agree0 Disagree0

AVB could use this to his advantage if it is true. Something like this!

So Mr Levy I have been offered the Barca job, I don't think I will be able to say NO if I am honest.

Mr Levy:Really are you sure? I mean what can they offer you that I can't?

AVB: Well as you put it like that, I see you may have a point. ummm but still it is Barca after all!

Mr Levy: Well let's put it this way, what would it take for you to stay and commit to ME :-)?

AVB: Well, I'm not an unreasonable man. I wouldn't mind a better contract for myself.

Mr Levy jumps in.

Mr Levy: done so that's it right? breathes a sigh of relief.

AVB: Well NO, I would also like a Striker, you know what one of them is right? It's a person or persons that are at the front of the attack and when they get good service put the ball in the back of the net! It REALLY helps you win games you know.
Anyway one of them if not 2 would be nice?

Mr Levy: Are you sure though? I mean. Spain can play without strikers and I want us to be more like them?

AVB: Well Mr Levy, we are NOT Spain incase you haven't noticed so what's it going to be?

Mr Levy: O, OK I will go and get you a striker then. Any preferences?

AVB: Well Higuain, Damiao, Torres Dzeko, Soldado, Yilmaz or Rooney would do nicely.

Mr Levy: Well that's it sorted then. Job is a good one.

AVB: Thank you, I can't wait for his or their arrival.

Mr Levy:Hope you enjoy Barcelona. Goodbye.

So what's the chances then? I hope its not true but who could blame him in all honesty? NO-ONE.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok so we bid for Villa and he elected to stay in Spain. We have supposedly represented a bid for Soldado. Bernard my understanding was once we had Paulinho our interested cooled. Not sure we have failed for any of the others if we didn't go after them. We need to be realistic bidding against the likes of PSG, Monaco, City etc we do not have the financial clout to do it. AVB will stay another year. then watch him pack his bags with Bale in them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barca have said they will announce there new man next week. I read that as they already have a deal done, if it was AVB I think we would have already heard something about it, imo AVB is going nowhere. (I may well be wrong lol)
KMB

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree, I think they already have someone rapped up. Either way, I am becoming more optimistic. I would really hope and love us to bid for 1 of 2 players. Namely Dzeko and Torres. I also believe we can afford their wages so not unrealistic targets. I would prefer to get them both if at all possible. To dare is to do and to dream is my god given right lol

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Daniel levy and Ivan gazidis are evil twins. they pretty much muck up everything

Andre Villas-Boas has emerged as one of the bookmakers favourites to replace Tito Vilanova as Barcelona manager

19 Jul 2013 20:54:06
Well Benteke is a no go, just signed a new 4 year deal at villa (tv). The window is getting shorter and the strikers are slowly but surely getting snapped up by other clubs. With city signing negredo and jovetic today, soldado needs to a spurs player very soon. Don't let us down again levy!

Avb is now favourite for the Barcalona job, too good an opportunity to turn down for him

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes very true words unfortunately. If the offer comes in you can't blame him. Hopefully he chooses to stay but if he goes then best of luck to him. Hopefully that doesn't mean Bale would follow him : /

Negredo, jovetic to city, damiao staying in brazil, benteke staying at villa! Time and options are running out mr levy!! So who's it going to be? Kevin Philips at 1 minute to midnight on deadline day! Sort it out or go!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2013 19:48:58
So Benteke has changed his mind and signed a new deal with Villa till 2017. Great news! Let's go all out for Solado now

Come on spurs running out of striker options and time now benteke option has gone, we need something to happen soon

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not sure we were ever in for him to be honest. hence he signs a 4 year contract. until next summer.

Christian Benteke staying at villa now what?
SpursT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How many time, we did not want him. You only had to watch him against Bradford to see how technically good he was! now please all villa fans p**s off

benteke has signed a new villa deal until 2017. suppose that means we've missed out on another target! com'on levy!

19 Jul 2013 18:56:37
Thank god benteke has signed an extension. I thought we were going to be stuck with him for a minute then.

Hopefully spurs do a some deals quickly and get the striker issue put to rest.

Really hope we don't sign another bent/heskey type player.

how do u lot feel now benteke has signed a new deal at villa?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Personally think it's good for him to stay for a bit longer, it'll reflect better on him, rather than failing to train and going on strike to force a move. Would have been happy if he'd have joined but not gutted that he's not.
Villa should have a desent season, quite liked what Lambert was trying to do last year!

Happy days. I hope your man said £25million so our man said eff you and walked away.

Benteke haz signed a new contract, looks like our options are depleting by the day. Surely we got to get someone?

19 Jul 2013 18:16:55
Well Bentenke has now signed a contract extension, so another one bites the dust! Didn't want him myself but once again Levy has been caught sitting around with his finger up his arse! But he is a good business man though, that's £25 million in the bank, a big headline saying ' we really did try for a striker this time ' and Bent and Barry turning up at the lane!
Still one good thing to come out of it, no more Villa fans moaning on our site! I wonder if they still feel the same about him though??

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Didn't want him either Davo, but saying that was starting to convince myself it was better than nothing.

You should know better than to listen to the tabloids though, I mean that, did we actually make a bid? Nothing official I've heard and I visit this site daily. So as far a we know pure speculation, am I wrong? I'm sure we enquierd (why wouldn't we) but they proberbly made it clear they wasn't budging. Did you think 25mill was a reasonable valuation for him?

I understand your frustration but maybe we always felt another option was better if we couldn't negotiate with Villa for a lower price. Only speculating though!

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2013 17:53:22
Well that's a turn up for the books, Benteke withdraws transfer request and signs 4 year contract extension at Villa. Now we might step up interest in our other striker targets before they get snapped up also.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

19 Jul 2013 17:51:14
It seems Benteke has signed a new contract at Villa. Another striker missed, or maybe a bullet dodged?

Benteke has withdrawn his transfer request and signed a new contract a Villa.

As I said in January, Benteke will join this summer - This information was from a coach at spurs
The Sledgehammer

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hope not. stepping stone player. goes where money is. and besides. not good enough. better out there! yidade

Agree0 Disagree0

Well another attention seeker.
Would you like to re post that again!
Great news about benteke signing a new deal. Now, will all the villa fans please get off our site.
I posted a few days ago that I hoped it was a smoke screen and that baldini had disappeared for a reason and we would get a major coup. I reckon we enquired, was quoted £25million and looked away. He ain't worth that.
COYS

Agree0 Disagree0

Well hope you didn't put money on it as he has just signed a new contract until 2017 for Villa. Personally I am happy as I don't believe £20-25M for a player after 1 season with his attitude (Genk and Villa) to join our ranks. However maybe it was just about getting a better contract for himself.

NEXT!

Agree0 Disagree0

The moral of the story, re villa/benteke.
According to itk and press, both deals where done.
DO NOT believe a word of anyone until the club/player says otherwise.
He wasn't worth £25million anyway.
It was probably just all a game to get Abigail pay rise out if villa. Well it worked

Agree0 Disagree0

Beeb sayin benteke signed new deal at villa, which I think is good and a lucky escape for us!
coys

Agree0 Disagree0

Wrong wrong. He's just signed a new contrac at villa

Agree0 Disagree0

As Benteke has just a signed a new contract at Villa, you are talking complete nonsense

Agree0 Disagree0

What coach was this, one with a wheel on each corner?
He has signed a contract extension!

Agree0 Disagree0

U spoke too soon sledger

Agree0 Disagree0

Well you obviously got that wrong his just signed a new contract. Smithy

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate he is staying put.

Listen to the news, 4 year contract

villafan

Agree0 Disagree0

Seems as if this "coach" at Spurs knows bugger all then, Benteke has signed a contract extension at Villa today

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh dear sledgehammer what but timing that was to show people your full of it and not itk! Incase you don't know what I'm talking about, Benteke signs new contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

And that is why he has signed a new 4yr deal at villa

Agree0 Disagree0

Were you talking to the coach or the bloke driving it?

Wrong mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol how worng you was

Agree0 Disagree0

Wrong thankfully. but we do need a quality striker. as I have said before Dzeko if we could get him, think he would like to be first choice and may be worth 15-20 mil and sign Chadil and offer 'arry parker and 4 mill for Remy as cover for wings and upfront.

Really looking forward to next season if we can have some luck on the injury front and sign a quality CF think we could challenge.

COYS

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually like that delyid, well thought out post. Don't see Dzeko as a possibility unfortunately. Maybe something big needs to happen to keep AVB so Levy goes all out to sign such a player.

Agree0 Disagree0

The coach was Mike Hunt, he is a really well respected coach.

Cisse from newcastle is exactly what we need! Proven quality in the premier league, think about his first season the support he got from cabaye, ba etc and he was banging them in left right and centre for fun. Just think what he could do playing with bale dembele paulinho etc he could be lethal and with his current situation at newcastle (shirt sponsorship issues) surely 8-10 million bid would be worth a try. Believable0 Unbelievable0

Doubt they'll accept anything less than the 12 they paid for him and also 8 goals in 36 league games last year? Is that the type of striker we want. He's not a top 4 striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope not - what was 8 goals last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be good buy and bring in Saldado or dzeko and chadli and atusu

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't say he had a great season last year. he didn't exactly have much support with injuries and ba leaving them for chavski. I personally would take him over p*ss poor adebayor and defoe (not getting any younger and far to many injuries) any day of the week. he would thrive off playing with bale and co. COYS K93

Bernard to the Gooners.
I think we need him and Soldado and that would do. Sell Gomes, Dempsey, and BAE. Trouble is that's £30mish net which we won't spend on top of Paulinho out-lay.
Also, if Kabooom is not truly fit or likely to crock again at any moment then we'd be thin at centre-back, hope that's just a rumour.
Simmo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd take Soldado and Dzeko would secure Top 4 for us maybe higher. I think Man U and currently Chelsea look vulnerable going into the new season. Arsenal also vulnerable unless they get Suarez in which case I think they will be competing with City for the title.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2013 11:11:58
With city signing Jovetic and Negredo does anyone think Dzeko could be worth a punt. I presume his wages are currently £100k+ but could be willing to take a hit for first team football. I'd take him for 15-20m over Bentele. Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think we all agree with mayb the exception of levy, mayb we could offer Ade in part exchange ;)

Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

You can bet dzeko will be a bit peeved off about new signings. so worth a bid I reckon. wot dya think?

Are the eds or anyone else aware of what Robben' situation is at Bayern, he was linked with a move when Pep was appointed but seems to have gone quite, he is a spurs fan and would be excellent, has goals in him and can play across a front 3. {Ed001's Note - last I heard he was available for transfer, but Pep has changed his mind about others at the club, so maybe he is willing to give him a chance too?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No chance. If he leaves PSG or $hitty or Chelski would look to sign him I think as well as meeting his wage demands and could all offer CL football.
Nice idea for Fifa, but completely unrealistic for real life.

So, rumours have it, we've upped our quest for Soldado. I didn't know too much about him, so decided to have a look at his stats. If you haven't seen them you really should check them out. T
otal career - 397 games - 193 Goals. That is an incredible return! He's 28 so still has a good few seasons left in him too.
Please let this one happen!

Dom

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dzeko is again 4th choice at sh*tty now.
Levy should stp everything he us doing and get this boy as his number 1 priority. I reckon £20million would get the job done. Potentially cheaper than benteke and soldado.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2013 07:37:39
The beeb are saying we've made an improved 20m bid for soldado. if its true it would seem promising i'd think. Quality striker and would work well in our system. Any one else heard anything else about this?

It seems looking at the posts on this site that I am the only spurs fan excited and optomistic for the upcoming season. Unbelievable how negtive you lot are

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am totally excited about the up coming season. Just wish we had a couple of decent strikers, or one

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't wait for it either! If we can keep Bale, get another couple of signings. Hopefully Soldado and another creative CM, ship out some of the fringe players, I'll be even more excited. This season is going to be very difficult, but interesting too.

Dom

Agree0 Disagree0

Depends, on the basis of the start of every season being a clean slate and 'anything could happen', then yes there's cause for some blind optimism. Or, if you're excited about a battle for 5th and just short of 4th then yes. But, to date we've added Paulinho, looks decent but it's play-making and goals we were short of in the end and we haven't strengthened there at all yet. With the neighbours only adding a young striker there's no change there. United are United and Champions, even with SAF leaving there is big ground to make up. Man City have already bought Fernandinho, Negredo and Jovetic nearly done. Chelski had a big squad, get Lukaku back, buy Schurrle and will buy more. Even Liverpool have spent yet again and may keep Suarez.
We have to strengthen up top with some quality or I think we'll stay exactly where we are!

Makes me laugh people saying benteke is a huge risk and only had 1 good season then saying get papa cisse when he's only had half a good season in one and half years. 13 in his first 14 games in first year is excellent don't get me wrong but 8 goals in 36 games in league last year isn't nowhere near good enough for the 12-15 mil price tag quoted. Don't think he has enough has a lone striker esp for a club competing for champs league spot

Does anyone else think that Dzeko would be a much better buy than Benteke, think he would fit perfectly into are team. Smithy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes agree 100%. Have always liked this guy, just never given a chance at Shi!y.

Agree0 Disagree0

I posted that further down. If you look at the fact that they have Aguero, Jovetic and Negredo that will come before him, I think he would want to leave and be fantastic in our team. A definite improvement on what we've got!
