Anybody think Cisse of Newcastle worth a punt 13 goals in 14 games then 8 goals last season while not playing well and sometimes out of position, out in the cold because of non footballing reasons at Newcastle he could just have been a half a season wonder but a lot cheaper than Benteke who could just be a one season wonder (although I think Benteke would be good for us not worth 23-30 million)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes, agree with both parts of the statement, Cisse for 8-10 million and Benteke 15-20 million would be great.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cisse would be good but not benteke the mersonary. (ed wots going on with soldado) {Ed001's Note - Valencia set an asking price for him, made it known, and no club has bitten. As some more player moves happen, interest in him may rise from clubs who have sold a player for a big price. I can't remember what the asking price was, that may be a big factor, if it is too high clubs will just go elsewhere.}

1-1 with Swindon.
Yes it a friendly
Yes he swapped the team round
Oh and yes bale scored
Ok my concerns are the squad players!
Townsend, rose, caulker and co
I'm not being harsh but are these players going to get us cl next season if called apon
Nope
Mr g

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It was are first friendly give them a chance. what do you expect a squad of world class players any way?

Agree0 Disagree0

I was at game tonight and whilst the first team regulars didn't do to badly in the first half (considering that it was there first real run out). But I have to say Mr G, I think that you are right about the squad players, with the exception of young kevin stewart at the back in the first half.

The second half was truly annoying. Obika up front own his own = WTF? Lennon, Townsend, Carroll and Super Jan looked good. Danny Rose looks to have beefed up after his year in Sunderland, but ran around like a headless chicken, chasing lost causes' until replaced by Fryers (I think) who did sweet fa like the rest of the youngsters.
I'd have to say that unless they are just rusty from the break, they are miles away from being first team regulars. The gulf in class was very obvious and Swindon started to take control for periods and actually looked as if they could have won it.

And WHY oh WHY would no one shoot? They all looked frightened to have a crack at goal in the second half.

In fact the only thing I saw cracked was a chair behind the goal in the warm up and another one totally smashed by a I think a T'hudd thunder strike a minute or two later (very funny!)

NOT THERE TONIGHT -Gomes, Dempsey, Livermore, Ade and Benny did not travel to the west country with the rest of the team (transfer listed?) Sandro and Kaboom not quite ready, dembele I didn't see and Holtby + Paulinho where absent as holidaying after CC and under 21's tournament. Other than that, I think everyone was there.

I know it was the first game and I know the kids did well in their respective competitions last year, but if what I saw tonight is the future starts of our team - God help us.

just my humble opinion

flippit

Agree0 Disagree0

Flippit, I agree. All this Rose this, Rose that, yes he looked good in a crap Sunderland side, who wouldn't of! As for Obika, why oh why do we persist with him! Yes it was a friendly, yes the whole team was changed around, so hopefully it was so players like Hudd, Parker, etc could be in the shop window and the youngsters got a chance, but fingers crossed for the striker we need!

Agree0 Disagree0

Also Flippit, do you know what's happened to Coulibilly?

Agree0 Disagree0

Omg. Some of you amaze me.
Firstly, it was our first pre season game.
Secondly, and most importantly, Swindon team contained 5 spurs loan players so it was like a training game without tackles.
The idea of pre season is match practice and raising fitness levels. Everyone plays. You will see obika, Kane, cabbellos play in lots of these games. If you are team and result watching now, then you really are just looking for a moan.

Agree0 Disagree0

How did Pritchard, hall and luongo do?

RY

Agree0 Disagree0

You're reading far too much into it. It was just a fitness run out, we made 10 changes in the second half ffs. Swindon were playing ultra defensive, and we dominated for the lion's share of the game. Their goal was a lucky deflection and more than they deserved if I'm honest.

Adam

Any excuse to have a pop eh Mr g!
Ffs chap leave it out, have some faith and stop being so negative all the time.

Much love

Agree0 Disagree0

Mr G,

Do you support Spurs??

Never seen a positive post from you!

Cheer the f*ck up and get behind the team.

Ed's any chance of adding a Spurs Moan page as well as the Banter & Rumour page, that way the positive fans amongst us can avoid all the moaning.

Cheers,
Kieran

Agree0 Disagree0

No idea Davo. I rate him very highly but he wasn't there - I hope he'll be integrated later as preseason evolves when more of the first teamers requlars return.

Not ever so sure I want to see Benteke in a Spur shirt, he doesn't seem to have any commitment whatever club he is at. When at Genk he forced a move to Villa, now after one season he is trying to force another move out.

I don't think he is worth near the £25m Villa are wanting, he has had one good season, he needs 3 consistent seasons before talking of those figures.

Whos to say if he has a good season at Spurs, Real Madrid or City show interest, he will want to move on again.

Much better players out there for less money!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree totally.
Exactly what I posted below.

does anybody else think we should put in a bid for rooney? not saying it would be accepted or that he would come to us, but what if we offered them 25 - 30m, and offered him what bale or ade are on per week which would be a big paycut, but to make up for that give him a large signing on fee, worth a shout?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think Rooney's style of play would suit Spurs. He tends to play behind the strikers these days, a space filled by Dembele!

Could be wrong!

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think his wage packet suits spurs lol. yidade

Agree0 Disagree0

If he took a pay cut I would go in for him immediately. A class player that would no doubt improve our team and possibly turn us into title contenders.

Gabriel

Agree0 Disagree0

He would want cl football, no chance of competing against chelsea

Tottenham will sign Alvaro morata on loan.

Gabriel.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How come you didn't put him on your last post then, the one with the lists of player's being brought and sold?

Agree0 Disagree0

Missed him by mistake but just to clarify, Benteke & Alvaro morata, will definitely be signing for spurs.

Watch this space.

Gabriel, unless you are Levy's son or right hand man, the these are the words of a mad man or the Oracle!

All these villa fans that are piping up about benteke not beinga loyal player are all full of bs, he just doesn't want to play in the championship next year and wants to come to a club that is going in the right direction!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mmm well let's not forget we tried to believe Ade would be different when he came. and what happened, yep exactly the same as at his previous clubs. So to think Benteke will not throw his toys out of his pram at some point is naive.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have to be a bit fair to Villa fans,

This goes on now on a daily basis with the tapping up of players, we didn't like it with Modric & now again with Bale scenario

Personally I think Paul Lambert is a good manager he has done a good jobs at Colchester & Norwich.

I hope he gets time, I don't think they'll be in the top 8, But Ehy - who would have thought West Brom would have done so well last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

True West brom had a great start to the the season but after Christmas they fell of the rails big time! Villa just don't have the balence in there squad, so if they do end up losing benteke they just ain't going to have the goals in there squad to survive

Ed's - When was the last testimonal for a premiership player / team, With all these players showing no commitment to clubs over recent years apart from Manchester United really.

I remember going to Hoddle's testimonal against Monaco, There was always a great buzz around the ground & a chance to see world class players.

surely this is becoming a thing of the past now. What's your views. {Ed001's Note - Gerrard is having a testimonial in a few weeks, Carragher had one last season. They still go on mate, it is just very rare a player stays with one team long enough to get one. Tate of Swansea has been offered one at Swansea, which was set to be against Man Utd this summer, but was postponed while he sorts out his future, as he is moving to a new team, bizarrely enough considering!}

Are we in danger of missing out on our transfer targets and starting the new season with JD & Ade?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Guess it depends on who our real targets actually are. Villa being the seemingly obvious exception to date.

I have a bit of a problem.
Not being a season ticket holder, getting tickets to the BIG games is almost impossible.
However, my friend who is a Chelsea season ticket holder has invited me to this seasons premier league game at the lane between spurs and chelsea. Only thing is I'd have to sit in with the scum. It's something I'm willing to do in order to get to the game but not cheering if bale smashes in a 30yrd screamer is going to be tough.
What do you guys think?

McYid {Ed008's Note - Go for it!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ha ha I did that once I think we lost 2-1 its ok but a bit obvious when they sing if you all hate spurs stand up and I was the only one left seated but at least I got to see my hero's

derbyshire dave

Agree0 Disagree0

I did the exact same thing last year when we played United at Old Trafford, it was one of the hardest things ever trying not to scream when we scored and finally won. But i'm just so glad I witnessed us beating them away from home!

Agree0 Disagree0

I did it once away to Charlton. 2 nil down to 3-2 up. Each cheer got slightly louder per goal until I went crazy at 3-2.
Charlton and spurs aren't massive rivals and I was only 14 or so. I just don't know if I can trust myself not to scream in the Chelsea end lol.
Its an opportunity to good to turn down. I'll just have to bite my tongue lol.
If you see a scuffle in the Chelsea end its probably me gettong my ass beaten lol

McYod

McYod just dress up as Boy George the Chelsea fans like a bit of that!

Halilovic & Benteke will sign for Tottenham before the end of next week.
Sunderland are willing to do a cash plus player (rose) for our 'once' long term target sessegnon but Boas doesn't want to see the highly rated LB leave. Sunderland also interested in Huddlestone so don't rule this deal out.
Pablo Osvaldo is also being touted to replace Clint Dempsey should the player decide to leave for an American based team. Seems very likely he won't be a spurs player next season. reasons, predominantly his age and his inability to play as a team member. Example, notice our LBs struggled throughout the season because they lacked that extra protection from the wide man, Dempsey did not give enough cover.

The players that will be leaving Tottenham this transfer window are. Adebayor, Huddlestone & Dempsey.

Tottenham will start next season with 3 strikers.

Gabriel.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hello again oracle.
My personal point of view, only my opinion, is that benteke is a smoke screen. I reckon spurs are letting the media go with the benteke story.
No one knows where baldini is.
Is he working on a massive coup?
Time will tell. We will see.

But what about damaio oracle?

He blatantly is The Oracle

Having seen the provisional squad for the Asia Trophy, would it be likely we will not sign anyone (except hopefully a forward) until we are able to loan/sell some players. The squad consists of 25 including Tom Carroll but with no Paulinho who is still on holiday. But take Tom away from it as he does not need to be registered, would this not be the 25 man squad for the season?

Goalkeepers -Hugo Lloris, Brad Friedel, Heurelho Gomes

Defenders - Kyle Walker, Kyle Naughton, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Jan Vertonghen, Michael Dawson, Steven Caulker, Younes Kaboul, Danny Rose.

Midfielders - Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend, Gareth Bale, Tom Huddlestone, Mousa Dembele, Sandro, Scott Parker, Jake Livermore, Tom Carroll, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lewis Holtby.

Forwards - Clint Dempsey, Jermain Defoe, Emmanuel Adebayor.

Knowing Levy I can't really see him spending money on new players when it will mean we have players earning there money but can't play in the league (but they can in the cups)?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Players under 23 years old don't need to be in the 25 man squad, they can still be used, so Carroll, parroat, obika, coutabele, and alike don't need to be named in the 25 man squad. Bale wasn't last year, and sorry for spelling of the names! Big love, COYS

Agree0 Disagree0

Its under 21 players born on or after Jan 1st 1992 - Caulker this season must be named for the first time.

Obika was named in our squad from Jan onwards last season as was Bentley and Gallas.

Gomes, Rose, Townsend were all on loan.

Parrett has left the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, I thought it was 23, I stand corrected, but with players released and sold, I think we'll come in ok ever with one or two more acquisitions!

Agree0 Disagree0

Especially with, hudd, Parker, Dempsey and add all touted to leave

David villa statement: I was England bound but Madrid popped up last minute and did in 3 days what other clubs could not and did not do in months.
Sooooooo we took too long and have other teams a chance.
Not surprised at all. It makes sense
Mr g

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You are forgetting the confederations cup he was involved in. We would of got it wrapped up in days after that, if he decided to come to us.
Another levy basher here.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok. How long was he in the Spain squad for, for the confederations cup?
A month, 6 weeks?
Ourselves and other clubs enquired about him at season end. It was common knowledge he said that no decision would be made until after confederations cup. Now, Madrid came in, offered CL football and he accepted.
For him to say things took months is a bit naughty as he said he didn't want to speak about it until after the tournament he was in. What should levy do? Ignore his comment and pursue him throughout the confed cup?
I think his comments are more to praise his new club, than slag off other chasing teams but I suppose his comments give an excuse for so called fans to slag off levy again and don't forget mr g, you are reading the media interpretation of what he meant. he also said he was on his way to the prem before Madrid came in, so we can't of been all that bad. Again, you are
getting sucked in by the media.
Forget about villa, move on.
COYS.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mr G is right. We had long enough with or without confederations cup. Look at Benteke & Chadli (spelling). Llorente, Mouthino etc etc
George.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok. Look at paulinho (after confed cup).
Vdv. Even gilfi and Dempsey.
It works both ways.
Benteke has only just asked for a transfer and now we discussing a price. (£25million is too much)
Llorente didn't want to come.
Moutinho had ownership issues.
Chadli, have we even made a bid?
Yes we know levy is a tight ass but I wish our fans would just get behind the whole club instead of looking for reasons to moan and slag off.
Wait until the 2nd sept, if no one comes in, then we can all moan.
COYS

Agree0 Disagree0

No excuse, Levy just dosn't want to spend big, history has proved so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Levy had long enough to deal with ownership issues and strike a deal with Porto but fell short by 2m with a last min bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah the Moutinho deal sucks big. AVB was probably aware of the ownership issues that existed at that time, so no excuses for us on that one.

God that's a lot too much guys. in what world do u live?

""" benteke is not your quality. but he would improve liverpool a lot?

really? I mean yes your doing good job on the field, improving day by day, nice to u. but this statement seems like arrogance and how much on cloud 9 you are.

last season most of your goals came from bale + others, i. e. midfield. (1 man team)

of all your strikers only defoe broke the 10 goal barrier (11 goals in league 15 in total. ) that's the best striker u have got right now.
that shows what quality u have at the front, 30+ uncle defoe is your best central striker, who barely made it to the 10 goal mark.

still u have nerve to say benteke is not your quality?

and thank you very much for your kind concern, but liverpool scored 11 goals more than u, top striker scored some 20+ goals, and even with without suarez, sturridge score 11 goals (same as your top striker) with in 10 games.

at least be realistic.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So, hang on. You are saying we are a one man team. After bale, our next top scorer scored 11.
The scousers, have a player who scored more than bale and their next top scorer scored 11?
So that makes the scousers a one man team. That makes them relegation fodder when Suarez leaves? Not even mid table (where they finished last season and previous seasons)
As for benteke, I don't want him. He is trouble. Look what he done to genk? Look what he is doing to villa? If he is a success at spurs, will he do the same? Damn right he will. Another adebayor is my opinion.
COYS.

Agree0 Disagree0

And yet you still finished some 12 points behind us. FACT.

What a pointless post.

Much love

Agree0 Disagree0

The comment I read was like this,

"" benteke is not of spur's quality, but he can improve liverpool a lot. ""

does this makes any sense? a team whose best striker defoe only, barely manages 11 goals, are saying benteke isn't our quality? while in reality its spurs who r going after him.

and for that matter, whether u like or not, benteke is better than your striker, while we have better options then him. so its u who need to improve in that department not us.

here any 1 can post but at least u can be realistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apart from Suarez, what strikers do you have better than Defoe! Haven't seen one play at Anfield since Ian Rush!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with the Liverpool fan, we need a striker more than they do. If Suarez was to stay (we know he won't but whilst he's still there anything can happen) then alone they have a better strike force than us. Plus they got this young player aspas this year and you never know. Nobody expected Benteke to have a good season last year so it's possible they could have a gem. We've got Defoe and Ade which all of us have said is not good enough and we need to strengthen. Add to that, would you happily swap Defoe and Ade for Suarez? (Let's take ability into consideration and assume the guy isn't a complete ass)
Many thanks
