Not sure why there are so many reservations about Remy as a potential signing; he has great potential to be a top no.9. He is very good in the air, strong, incredibly fast and is good finisher. I definitely wouldn't compare him to Henry, the media hype in that direction is just lazy journalism, and he is actually far more Drogba-esque. He has raw physical and technical ability just like Drogba, and I think, with another experienced forward (Ade, Drog, Berbatov, Ba) as competition, he could be a real hit.
There are very few forwards that can almost guarantee you 25-30 PL goals a season (Falcao, RVP, Gomez, Hunter, Ibra, Cavani, Benzema, Higuain, Ageuro, Rooney). With the possible exception of Huntelaar, we are unlikely to get this level of player at the moment. Hence, we need two centre forwards to share that burden over a season; a youngster (Remy, De Jong, Damiao) and one of the experienced players mentioned above.
If we can add competition for VDV in the deep-lying role (Dembele, Dempsey, Rossi); competition and pace out wide (Adam Johnson, Hoilett, Krasic); and a top class CB (Vertonghen) while shifting Nelsen, Gallas, Rose (PL loan), Jenas, Bentley, Corluka, Dos Santos, Kranjcar, Pienaar, Saha, Defoe, we will have rebalanced our squad without spending huge money. Great business! {Ed004's Note - Why are people all for selling Saha. Has he not played well since joining?}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Saha has done ok, but playing 4-4-1-1 means we only need two centre forwards for the squad, with two deep lying forwards/attacking midfielders. To be honest, I don't think a side with ambitions to be a consistent top 4 side wants saha as one of two centre forwards in the squad.

Agree1 Disagree0

He has been the definition of average. He played brilliantly against toon and that's about it. His new book looks good tho

Agree0 Disagree0

Saha hasn't played well no ... Yes yes a few goals that to be quite frank anybody maybe even Heskey could have scored ...
Just another player taking up valuable wage budget and below standard

Agree0 Disagree0

Saha is like playing with 10 men he offers nothing workrate wise & in general play, Defoe will probablt want to leave & Ade who knows, so we coyld be looking for 3 new strikers I wouldn't pay 20ml for remy not to sure about him anytime I've seen him against english sides in Europe he's been pure dung.
I'd rather we tried a cheeky bid for javier hernandez I know his all round game isnt great but we need someone with his kind of movement in the box & he scores goals. Wether utd would sell is another story but it could give them extra funds to Chase whoever there targeting.
I'd like villa if it was possible, I'd take a punt on diego Costa of ath Madrid he scored 10 goals & 6 assists in 16 games on loan at rayo vallecano, Everytime I've seen him play i thought he'd suit pl he's got great feet good in the air & would only cost btween 3-5 ml, could be worth a chance.

He could have been a decent player if he wasn't injury prone....Don't know why we signed him. Harry has been very poor with his signing!

Time for the club to move on harry needs to commit long term to the club if england have a bad euros it could be the same as the 2nd half of this season with people linking him to the england job. gallas bassong nelsen huddlestone jenas bentley saha pienaar friedal to go his signing in january and last summer showed he had half an eye on the england jobs if he thinks gomez is not that good then get rid dont replace him with someone 40 i am not saying friedal not a great keeper but how about we think longer than next season gomez walker dawson kaboul ekotto lennon parker modric bale van der vaart defoe with players from the bench of button rose livermore sandro townsend kranjcar dos santos is surely thinking more long term than the likes of nelsen saha if we got rid of these squad player we could chase the big signing test the neighbours van persie and van der vaart up front wouldnt that be a dream maybe to big but you have to dream

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Can I have some of what you have been smoking please ? Gomez , Defoe are not 1st team players ! Rather have Friedal than Gomez any day . Sandro is 3 times the player parker is , kranjcar and dos santos are surely going ! And why would we get rid of Huddlestone ?

Defoe second highest scorer this year from the bench adebayor loan is over who do you play.huddlestone has been a great player just feel hes not getting regular football with the midfields we have

I dont beleive loic remy is good enough for us to be honest. His record for marseille isnt great and if we are going to spend between £15-20m for him why not got for klass jan huntelaar, fernando llorente or leandro damaio who are quality strikers in my opinion. Remy is NOT the way forward as his is not a 20-25 goal a season man, although if we do get him I hope he proves me wrong. COYS

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Totally agree with post . If these players arent available to us , then what about Lewandowski , scoring for fun in Germany ?

Am I the only person who REALLY doesn't want Remy?

I've seen the guy play 5 times and never seen him do anything that made him our big striker. I heard he only scored 3 open play goals in the French league, and they want 20+ mil? Shove it up your a*se there are so many Strikers you could get for that money.

So if you had the 20mil and Levey said get us a striker, who would you try to get? Personally the Hunter (I don't care he's late 20's hes quality) or Giroud.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or Lewandowski ! What do you think ED ?
Davo {Ed001's Note - I would go with Lewandowski, certainly wouldn't touch Remy, I don't rate him at all.}

I wish everyone would just calm down regarding signing this player and that player. No one has signed yet. Levy can easily lose a target trying to save a quid or 2.
Don't give them anymore ammo to aim at us. We have all had to suck it up since blowing that lead and are now paying for shouting our mouths off.

Ok Raz, Credit where credits due, the league tabe doesn't lie. We finished 4th and Assna finished 3rd. I think the point most spurs fans are trying to make is, that Assnal fans are happy finishing a point above us that for your fans is a good season, however for us spurs fans it isn't a just a good season we are a team that is improving year on year for the last 3-4 seasons whilst yours is a team in decline. Spurs are becoming more consistant, Assnal more predictable and on recent form and fortunes next year will be the year it changes and Spurs finish above Assnal, whether or RVP stays or goes, he will not have another season like this on e. I have not once on this site taken anything away from Assnal, you finished 3rd on merit well donebut enjoy it because next season you won't finish in the top 4.

Realistically there are several position where we need new, either as starters or to provide a bit of competition. I think we need the following: GK, CB, Winger (to provide competition for Lennon/cover and also potentially as a replacement for when bale inevitably leaves), and two strikers, one a big target man.

Obviously who joins depends on the champions league result, but either way we should be looking for hungry players with experience of playing at the highest level incl. in Europe and with a point to prove. Some of these have been closely linked with us recently, all of them are realistic in terms of wages and transfers. So how about the following:
GK: Lloris - Lyon are not in CL next season (£7-8m)
CB: Vertonghen (£7m) - apparently very keen.
Winger: Affelay from Barca. Not getting game time. Had a bad injury. Has looked good when playing. Friends with VDV.
OR: Adam Johnson. Has had very little game time this season. Looks quality when played. Would push lennon. Next seaosn the situation at city will get worse not better for him with even more quality inevitably brought in.
Target Man: Dzeko. His goals scored to minutes played ratio is v good. Known to be very frustrated by amount of game time. Would suit our type of play. Would be good at holing the ball up like Ade. Wages could be a stumbling block.
Or: Huntelaar. Playing for Shalke. This would probably be seen as a move up as long as we get CL. Apparently wants to prove himself ina good league again. Would be a risk based on performance at other big clubs but has had a phenomenal season in Germany. Again friends with VDV. WIth Raul leaving Shalke may consider this a good time to leave. Either would probably cost £20-25m.

2nd Striker: Rossi. Would be a risk based on injury record but looks amazing when fully fit. With injury record and Villareals relegation would probably be available at a bargain price. Long term target. (£8-10m?)
Or: Remy. (c. £15m). Had a relatively good season at Marseille in a poor team. Apparently v keen to begin talks with Spurs. Also able to play on the RW so extra flexibility.

What are everybody's thoughts on these players? Any other suggestions?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

There are cheaper and other alternatives to Huntelaar and Dzeko e.g Giroud

Agree0 Disagree0

Lloris is optimistic no? Surely he'd go to a Real Madrid caliber team. I heard Alder is going to a German team, but if he hasn't yet he'd be the one I go for.

All decent ideas and players I'd love to see apart from Remy (totally overhyped from what I've seen/heard) maybe Dzeko as I think he's a little lazy and has nicked Jenarses invisibility cloak while on the pitch at times this season.

Apart from that all great suggestions, E-mail Levy would you please? :)

We will do it next year! Lol
How many times have spurs fans said that about finishing above arsenal?
Sometimes eating humble pie or giving credit where it is due is the right thing to do.
But no spuds fans....arrogant, ignorant and living in a dream world.

Raz

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Well Raz , you must be fed up on the gooners page , never seen you here so many times . Problem is , we are on the up so to speak , whereas you are still in a stagnent state , always there , never good enough . Which will be exactly the same next season if you are lucky enough to keep Rvp . I hope that we both are good enough to stop the Mancs which would see us fighting for the top 2 but not sure that will happen . But keep the banter coming , you just held on this year thanks to a dodgy FA , and an even more dodgy ex spurs keeper , ( how much did you pay him ) , but your noisy neighbours will be back , just like city !!
Davo

Agree0 Disagree0

And you think we care what you think. Man City Man United and Newcastle will get my praise for good campaign as too Swansea and Norwich for first year survival. Gooners were single handedly pulled up into 3rd place by RVP. When he goes it will be interesting to see. Last of the old gooner quality to leave. Cant and wont replace him Henry Petit Viera Fabregas Nasri. Just a feeder club for City now. This year you got lucky next year if RVP goes then the shadows will close in. Well done for this year though, make the most it though mid table obscurity awaits.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where on earth is credit due for Arsenal - oh yeah RVP! without him scoring 30+ goals this season you would be around 6th maybe 7th. Dont start churping up now Gooners, you cant even sing at home to get your team going - 12th man at arsenal is about as much use as a chocolate Teapot! So where will you be in the league if RVP goes next year?

I'm an Arsenal fan and I just want to say I know we were very lucky to beat West Brom but aww well we did. Just want to make a comment about Saturdays CL final. IMO if Chelsea do win it I believe Spurs should be allowed to engter the competition as well. Its not your fault that the overall winners of the competition can't finish in the top four. That just shows how strong and competitive our league is. Maybe enters yous a round earlier so you have 2 qualifing rounds to go through but I don't believe its fair that your team works so hard all year finish in a place that allows you to qualify for the CL then have it taken away because the rest of Europe can't beat the 6th best team in England. Our league will have earned the right to have 5 teams in the CL.
Anyway that's just my opinion on the matter. Didn't want to mention anything before the end of the season incase I got people saying your just worried for yourselves.
Like Spurs could lose players because they aren't playing CL football yet that won't be your clubs fault.

Just for those saying the whole Harry to England thing is the reason for your down hill slump I believe it was Mr Sagna's header in the 40th minute that turned both seasons on their head! Haha sorry had to get that in!
Also apologies if there is any spelling or grammer mistakes with my phone I can't see the second half of each line..

Raz you are a total mug. If your happy with your team fair enough but deep down you know Tottenham are better. You got amazingly lucky yesterday and had Fulop made one less clanger you would be crying like the little girls you are. Tbh we should of finished 20points ahead of you and would of had it not been for the Redknapp and England hype, and constant outrageous bad luck.
Van Persie is gone while we Tottenham Hotspur are about to snap up one player who you gooners have been putting on your wishlists in Vertonghen.
When we get our new stadium Razzy boy we will be even more of a force and your in for a rude awakening. Levy is the shrewdest of the lot. Tottenham with a 60,000 gate receipt with the fair play financial regs coming in means a big big club.
The influx of you gooners just shows how much of a threat Tottenham are and your relief is cringeworthy. You scraped through on Sunday but dont forget your pathetic performance.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

Outrageous bad luck....lol
WHEN we get our new stadium...lol
You spuds live in a dream world, that why we come on here to laugh at you.
All season you were mouthing off at how you would finish above us etc eyc
We smashed you 5-2, beat you to 3rd in league and you take our cast off players.
Vertonghen will join you for money and 1st team football.
We can't guarantee him that, coz he is average at best.
Year after year we finish ahead of you and year after year you say the same old rubbish.
Just except you can't match us in terms of support, stadium, players and quality football.

Agree2 Disagree1

Ha Ha , that old show ' the comedians ' is back . We smashed you 5-2 , well we smashed you in the other game . Vert will join us for the money , thought you paid better wages than us , and he is rubbish ?? Is that why most of the top european teams would like to sign him , including a certain mr wenger and most of your banter page . Comedy started at the emirates this year when poldolski said he was joining Arsenal to win trophies , joke of the year ! Face it boys , you are and always will be ' the tim henman of CL ' . Bye sucker

Arsenal's quality of football haha
Now who's living in a dream world.

Arsenal haven't played quality football for 2-3 seasons now and even when they did they were just a poor mans emulation of Barca.

Agree0 Disagree1

The way the above poster sounds, you would of thought that we finished above the dummy half of north London. Think he needs to get a life personally. As a spurs fan I think it was a great season for the prem. everything hinged on the last few mins of loads of games. Yea it didn't go our way this time but it might next time and before you say some kind of childish comment belittling us, we are here to stay my friend and will now be a close run thing most seasons. Yea we have our problems but so do the ars. Look what happened to poor pat rice. 44 years at a club and made to be the scapegoat for another trophy less season. Looking forward to next year already my ar2ena1 friends. I hope it same as this year nd we are battling the mancs in a top 4 fight again.

I'm a spurs fan, but can't stand davo and his silly comments.
We lost 3rd fair and square.
If we would of got it we would of been giving them stick like they are giving us.

Agree1 Disagree0

Hey davo
Don't fall into that trap again. We have not signed anyone yet. So don't go spurting until it is done. You know our chairman can easily lose a deal to save a million or two. Look wot happened when we was miles in front of the arse this season. Again, it might all blow up and we end up looking like mugs again because some couldn't resist shouting off.
Unlike the arse,we should only deal in facts. I will be crowing with the rest when we have things to crow about but that hasn't happened yet. It Shows a lack of class, which I have seen that ar2ena1 lack big time.

Agree1 Disagree0

Op, you do know it costs rather a lot of money to build a stadium? You have to pay it back also which therefore affects your buying power! AFC getting to end of our repayments, good luck with yours!

Agree1 Disagree1

Nope , I am not falling into any trap where transfers are concerned . Raz was the one who said that Vert would sign for us for the money . I have supported Spurs to long to try to understand our transfer dealings , and with Arrys record who knows who will appear at the lane next season if anyone !

We argue with each other because we're passionate about our club and different people have different view points e.g. some people think Wenger is actually God, whereas others are very prepared to hold him accountable.

I may not post on here often at all as it is your page but your posters who come on our site will no doubt know of me after many discussions.

However, the reason most of you don't know me is because unlike some of your fans I haven't been on this page giving out the sh!t, instead I've been on mine sending yours back to your fans.

At the end of the day we have a good healthy rivalry. This season you lot have been incredibly arrogant and every single day we've had to read nonsense bile from you lot and, for some strange reason, Liverpool fans.

But we kept our mouths shut for the most part, wound you up here and there, and just waited for the season to pan out. You could say we took your advice, minded that GAP, and then proceeded to clear it. Now we're just back to to remind you of the natural order of things!

I must say, said it before and will say it again, very very well done this season. It has genuinely been so exciting having us two battle all season like we have. It's even funnier that my mum is a spud yet she doesn't even know why. Nor do I. Some of you need to bare that in mind when you read my comments because they don't necessarily come from the angle of a bitter rival fan - I wouldn't treat mum like that so it's not my predisposition to level abuse at you guys.

But we finished 3rd against all the odds. None of you lot expected for one minute that we'd finish above you and now look. So if you think I wasn't gonna come on here and give it some then you're very much mistaken.

In other news, would be interesting to see what you fans genuinely think will happen wit your players this summer, both with or without champs league.

Remember, north london is 100% red.
