Everton fan here. just wanted to know what your veiws on the pienaar situation are?
At first I thought he would definetly sign at the end of the season but the more I watch him I just think even if spurs would let him go, it wouldn't be cheap. what do you lott think?

I heard rumours that IF Modders left last summer, we were looking at Ganso as the replacement.

I never really saw the point for the Piannar buy, apart from being a relieve player for Parker/Modric/ Lennon/VDV, and we would have sold Kranjcar.

Agreed, they are different, but I still felt that he was to be Modders replacement. Teams are free to change their formation and putting square pegs in round holes with the hope they transform isn't something new. I seem to recall a certain Mr Bale was originally bought and deployed as a left back
Fair point though......

Flippit.

Thing is flippit they are two very different players. Pienaar is an attacking midfielder/winger, more like Van Der Vaart than anyone else.Modric plays a lot deeper and influences the play from the engine room. If we had to replace modric, then for me we should break the bank (we'd have enough cash) and get christian eriksen from ajax, he looks like he could adapt to the deeper playmaker like modric. Of course, I remain sceptical he would go anyway, I don't think Chelsea will get CL, Man City would have to completely change the way they play to accomodate him, and Man Utd haven't got the cold hard cash.

Wouldn't be surprised.....!

Flippit.

Running the risk of starting something, I always believed that Piennar was purchased to be Modric's replacement. But Piennar got injured in pre season and 'Arry played things very well in the media which would have mugged Daniel Levy right off if Modric's had left, leaving us without cover for him. Obviously, once Piennar got back to fitness the team where flying and so he couldn't get back in the team ahead of those playing well.
What happens to Piennar, I think solely depends on what happens to Modders come the summer. If Modric stay, Piennar goes and visa versa. This, unfortunately, would be classic piece of Daniel Levy practice.
Before being shouted down by angry yidos, let me make it clear that I really hope that Modric is the one that stays. But I would be surprised.......

I dont rate pienar when he played for spurs, but when he played for Everton he looked great. comfortable on the ball, runs past players, scores. I don't know why it didnt work out for him at spurs. I think Levy will cut his losses and sell him to you guys maybe 2-4mill mark? he's earning £50,000 a week at spurs so would be a big cut on the wage bill

Naz

£5M and you can have him
