Oh well 5th place for us then guys. Pretty disappointing as this should have been settled weeks ago had we not crumbled with a few disappointing performances.

Looks like all the smug gooners that have been hiding under rocks all season will now come out of hiding just to say something about gaps and shadows and for them to brag that it's now twice in two seasons they've beat us to CL places. {Ed008's Note - Still 1 more game to go...

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah but Newcastle don't really have anything to play for so are not going to put up much of a fight. I was kinda hoping that as Wigan had everything to lose they would have put up more of a fight.

Hopefully Newcastle can hold them to a draw but can't see Newcastle winning.

Agree0 Disagree0

No no no MK1 I'm not having disappointed. Since the new year we have won 12 drew 6 lost 2. Just 2. I don't give a flying eff who those defeats where too, by the way one being at anfield and we are gutted, we are leaps and bounds a much better unit than last season. Look at the core, lloris, kaboom, Verts, sandro (what a legend), bale, Lennon. Lots of quality younguns. Not forgetting Avb. If we finish 5th. Then so be it. We could not of done any better. We have produced nearly an average of 2 points per game. I'm proud of our performance this season. Offer us 70/72 points thus season, we all wouldof taken it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I agree. Of course there will be some thinking of "what if" but we have done well. Our record since the new year has been strong despite having lost Sandro, been without a striker at full form for most of it, and with injuries to some other key players as well such as Lennon and more recently Dembele.

We are definitely improving regardless of what the final day might bring, and a relaxed Newcastle might be more dangerous than one with something still to play for.

We all know where the weaknesses in the team are and now it is a case of taking the core that we have, thanking the players that will move on for their services, and getting in some more that will take us even higher.

5th place is over 95% certain now. No Champs League means less attractive to signings that for two years on the trot (and about 4 out of 6ish) see that we fail to overtake arsenal on the last day. Sooner or later that isn't unfortunate, a tide that's turning or anything else but ultimately not being good enough.
This season we must have our best away form in years (unchecked but it must be?), a few decent results against the top 4 and STILL can't finish above them.

Now they've made a dent in their stadium debt, started building a big squad of £10m+ players and more money to add some class, money we won't/can't match.
I hate them but we have passed up golden opportunities to put a dent in that and push on ourselves. More Thursday/Sunday aggro and an extra 20 games to deal with and disrupt us for another season.

I am not even bothering to hope about Newcastle, they'll get 3-4 stuck past them and we know the usual, even if they went 2-0 up we'd get tortured by a comeback to be left even more gutted.
Negative? Yes maybe but those that accept being behind them again without similar scorn are playing the same defeatist, never mind, it's only a game loser-dom that will ensure we are always losers!

Agree0 Disagree0

Jeez, how depressing is the above post.
You seem to have all the bases covered in response to any reply someone may give, so I won't bother depressing myself reading it again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Depressing yes but true, the reality of falling short by another point that we could and should have gained is pretty depressing and gutting if you ask me.

Lucky Goons

What a shambles Wigan are that goal is a joke!

Top 4 is a battle when the goons get it given to them!

I am not bias but what an easy run in they have had!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm not so sure easy is the right word for this game. Wigan starting to put on the pressure.

What's the score going to b 2night then? Will Wigan do ourselves & them a favour? Mayb we should give them incentive promise to give them gallas, Parker, Livermore & Ade for free if they win?

I can not see a draw in this one & really could go either way I predict a hug scoring game with lots of mistakes.

Come on Wigan!! {Ed008's Note - I see a draw Wigan winning till late then Arsenal get a late equaliser.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we offered them Gallas, Parker, Livermore and Ade then they would lose on purpose, not even wigan would want Parker and Livermore.

Ed008 definitely isn't mystic meg. {Ed008's Note - I was being optimistic lol well done Arsenal...

To all editors,

On an average day, how many posts do you think you receive from people who think you are actually just one knowledgable bloke called Ed?! {Ed001's Note - that did make me laugh, I would love to say none, but unfortunately there are a few each day that can't seem to tell us apart. It is when they start making accusations about the team you support, based on having seen a different editor talk about the club they support, that it gets weird. Makes you fear for the future of the world, when something so simple seems to be really difficult for so many!}

For Flippit & The Anonymous Gang

I ask you these questions, you decide whether the Olympic Stadium is viable.

1. Have West Ham and London Legacy Development Corporation finalised the deal?

2. Even West Ham make it very clear that the wording is all based around the word PROPOSED & INTENDED. Even they state that 2016/17 is their intended year of delivery. Does this sound to you like the deal is finalised?

3. Why if agreed did a new consultation period only open on 23rd April this year for fans?

4. West Ham are hardly a stable permanent Premiership fixture, and the terms being proposed would provide a massive reduction in rent should they get relegated. Does that sound like the financial attractiveness that you would expect from such a deal?

5. Do you honestly think that the current WHL site would be granted planning permission for a total residential and commercial redevelopment if we were going to sell it off? In simple terms the answer would be impossible, and therefore could there be a significant financial driver behind this project?

6. Is the residential and commercial viabilty worth more or less than the current commercial only possition at WHL. In simple terms does it not make huge financial sence to redevelop the huge commercial, schools and residential plans within the project, and then once built decide we no longer want the stadium at WHL. This would mean that the remaining land would then fall into easy residential planning permission worth considerable millions more to the overall sale of the land?

7. If the West Ham tenancy over 99 years is so attractive, including low rent, little financial risk and all ticket and corporate revenues maintained, why do you think a shrewd businessman like Levy would pass over the opportunity?

8. Do you think LLDC would want a club like Spurs or a risk like West Ham as tenents?

The truth is there is certainly skullduggery stil to be played out, and I for one am totally convinced that the Olympic Stadium will ultimately go to Spurs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oracle who are we going to buy this summer????

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I do agree that everything points to west ham receiving ownership of the stadium. Spurs no longer are interested as they have lost out on the bid on two separate occasions.
Only a fool would still consider it as the future of spurs. You certanatly fit that description.

Agree0 Disagree0

When are you going I get it, WE DIDN'T EVEN BID. The process is over. And I notice yet again that by posting lots of questions to me, you still didn't answer the questions that a have put to you.

I will give you the same answers you give us, in short buddy = nothing.

Well by this time tomorrow we will have a better idea of where we will finish this season. Regardless of our final position, I for one am very happy with the season, AVB 1st season has IMO been relatively sucessful, given old tight wad in January and injures at crucial times, all in all its been productive.

Seasons final review,

GK's -

Friedel - Has been a very good GK over the years and was brilliant last year and for the 1st part of this season, but well past his prime and best, needs replacing.

Lloris - IMO Has been outstanding this season, biased or not I think he should have been in the PFA team of the year above De Gea, This guy could be our goalkeeper for the next 8 years

DEF's -

Walker - In stark contrast to last season, his form haas been shakey to say the least, however AVB's persistance is now paying off and he looks to be getting back to somewhere near his best still only 21, ability to be ours and englands RB for many years.

Naughton - In my opinion has had a very good season, has been solid when called upon in an unfamilar LB role, very impressed and good competition for Walker and any incoming LB.

BAE - I think he has been exposed for the player he is, has been extremely poor and cost lots of goals/opportunities and given away countless needless fould. Needs to be sold and replaced.

Vertonghen - He hit the ground running and was exceptional in the first 3/4 of the season, think the responsibilties of being our best defender has worn him down and his final 1/4 has shown this, but all in all a fantastic signing and future captain and will benefit from playing along side another fantastic settled defender, maybe Kaboul or possible new CB.

Dawson - After everything that happened at the start of the season, he has shown great maturity and dedication to come back and have a very good season. 100% committed to spurs and a fantastic servent, HOWEVER not sure he is good enough to take us to the next level and be the settled partner for Vertonghen. Remains as good cover.

Caulker - Hasn't shown the form of his swansea time, although hasn't really been given the opportunity. Looks to have the ability needs bringing on. Again good cover.

Gallas - I have been disappointed with Gallas and at how much he has played this season, like Friedel has been good but well past his prime needs selling and replacing.

MID's -

Lennon - Had an electric start to the season, earned an england recall. Since his injury has struggled to regain his form, he seems to struggle returning from injuries. Fantastic player when on form however not sure AVB's 4-2-3-1 suits him, looks better in a 4-4-2, but again he is still relatively young. Needs competition for his place to bring out his best, maybe move walker up and play naughton at RB to provide cover and competition?.

Sandro - IMO was our player of the season until his injury. We have sorely missed him and I firmly believe if he had been fit for the season we would have finished top 3. Needs a good pre season (if available) to be back to his best for next season.

Dembele - I have extremely impressed with him this year, IMO a complete footballer, reminds me a little of a Xavi/Iniesta, in the way the he always seems to have time and space, another player who has been sorely missed when injured. With him and Sandro we have in my opinion 2 of the best CDM's in the EPL.

Parker - Hmmm. Not quite sure really, last he was our best player, but playing in the Euros and the injuries seem to have taken their toll on him and he has been a shadow of last seasons player. Feel time to cash in on him whilst he still has some value.

Huddlestone - Once upon a time this guy seemed to have the world at his feet, injury has stopped his progress dead and he now seems a liability. Still packed with ability but at 25 can't see him improving enough to be a regular top 4 player. Move him on for a good fee, buy a good young prospect.

Livermore - Not good enough, had a fair start to the season, even earned an england cap. But again has stalled on progress. Don't feel he will ever be good enough, bottom half EPL team at best.

Bale - PFA players player, PFA young Player and Writers player of years awards. Enough said. Just hope we invest in quality to play with him and keep him.

Siggy - Has not produced the form of his Swansea loan spell last year, but is no longer a big fish in a little pond. IMO he has had a good first season for us, he is young and has improved game on game and feel he has the ability and determination to be a very good player for us. Not a regular starter but defiantley suitable cover.

Holtby - Don't feel we have seen his best form/ability yet, next season will be a better time to judge him, his commitment and determination are there for all to see. Watched him in the german league loads of times and looks a very accomplished player. time will tell.

Dempsey - This is difficult, he has been the target of the boo boys all season, but IMO like siggy has come from a team were he was a main man. Took time to settle, but IMO he was a clever bit of business, will always score goals and chip in with assists. Has scored several important goals this season and again has looked better with every game. Pushing 30 I can't see him getting better but a very good reliable player to have on the bench for cover.

Defoe - Had an awesome start to the season, cut short by injury and has come close to the early season form, as always with Defoe, has purple patches and baron spells, when he's good he is awesome, we he's bad its like playing with 10 men, wrong side of 30 now, he is tottenham and will be a fantastic impact sub, but we need 2 new strikers.

Ade - Again a very tough call, as the guy obviously has an abundance of talent and ability and on his day is unplayable and a match winner on his own. But his day doesn't happen anywhere near often enough. Last few games of the season has seen the Ade of old but IMO only playing for half a dozen games a season isn't good enough for a guy of his ability and the money he is on. Needs to be sold but with his wages not sure there will be to many takers.

AVB - His performance as manager IMO has been superb, he has obviously learnt from his torrid time at the Chavs, and has adapted his man manager style, seems to have a great connection with the players and I feel he is tactically very astute. Given backing by Levy and Lewis feel he has that attributes to take us on to the next level.

Well that's my review of the season main players and manager, I feel with a liitle investment and a bit of tinkering next season could be one of the best I've seen in my years of being a spurs fan.
