Haringery Council are too buy all the land for Northumberland Park and sell it to Tottenham Fc, thus eliminating any right to light claims. This means no Olympic Park, not permanently anyway! The new stadium will make us one of the biggest teams in the world, all selfmade too!

Just for the feeble minded, right to light claims, what's that? Obviously I know what it means, just asking for others. *cough cough*

With no game this weekend, I have been looking at what might happen in the rest of the season.

Our final 12 games are going to be a real slog. We still have to play 7 of the top 10 clubs and 4 of these are away. Liverpool and Chelsea will both be tough, while Swansea and Stoke are winnable but tricky. We must view the home games against Arsenal, Everton and Man City as opportunities rather than threats. It is still in our own hands (which is where we want it to be) but there is no denying that our run in looks harder than our rivals.

Man City has spent most of the season chasing United, but they have suddenly dropped back into the chasing pack. They still have 6 of the top clubs to play but 4 are away from home: Everton, Man United, Spurs and Swansea. A lot depends on their next match, when they play Chelsea at home. A win will give them some breathing space again, but a loss could see them start to panic. It is unlikely their Champions League spot will come under threat, but not impossible.

Chelsea's run in is about as tough as ours. They also have to play 7 of the top clubs, but 4 are at home. However, the away games are Man City, Liverpool and Man United. Their current form is very patchy and if this continues they could well find themselves outside the top four again this year.

Arsenal only has 5 of the top ten still to play: 2 at home and 3 away. The away games include West Brom and Swansea who are potential banana skins rather than major challenges. For them, the crucial game will be at White Hart Lane.

Everton has 6 of the top ten to play. Only Man City and Stoke are at home. Their away fixtures are all crucial 6 pointers: Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea. This is a horrendous run in. If they do qualify for the Champions League they will have done it the hard way.

Liverpool has by far the easiest run in. They only have 4 games against top ten clubs (all at home) but they have to make up 12 points on us and 8 on Arsenal. That seem extremely unlikely, especially given their habit of dropping points in games they completely dominate.

West Brom, Stoke and Swansea are not really in the race but will all prove difficult hurdles for the clubs that are (especially at home).

So, what is likely to happen?

Manchester City and Chelsea should have enough world class in their squads to hang on to their top four spots, despite their indifferent form and difficult fixtures. That will leave one place up for grabs. On paper, Arsenal now looks to be the slight favourite for that place. They have a much easier run in than Man City, Chelsea, Everton or us, while Liverpool is too far back to mount a serious challenge.

Fortunately, football matches are not won on paper and fixture lists mean nothing. There will probably many unexpected twists and turns in the final dozen games.

Keep the faith
KM {Ed002's Note - I'll go for Spurs nipping in to fourth - behind Manchester City and ahead of Arsenal.}

Ed 002: Does that mean you think Chelsea might end up in second place? Personally, I think Man City will stay second, but 3rd place is up for grabs by us, Arsenal and Chelsea.
KM {Ed002's Note - Chelsea will I suspect end up second - well behind Manchester United.}

Well last years run in looked very easy on paper, against mid to bottom teams. and we all know what happened.
i prefer a more difficult looking run in, makes the mind concentrate instead of just expecting it to happen.

Ed002, you must be kidding! I'm a Chelsea fan but there's no way Chelsea will get 2nd. I'm not even certain abt 3rd, 4th maybe. But I won't be surprised if we finish 5th, which is an improvement on last season's league position.
Bas!cs. {Ed002's Note - I will bow to your vast knowledge.}
