It is not my job to defend Villa fans, but I do have sympathy for them.

They have seen their club asset stripped in recent years. How would we feel if we had lost the equivalent of Young, Downing, Milner and Barry (and even Friedel)? Villa got good fees for most of those players, but it has been difficult to replace them with the same quality.

What would be the point of selling Benteke (to us or anyone else) unless it was for at least twice what he is worth?

That is certainly the view I would take over Bale.

Carrick, berbatov, modric, VDV. It has happened to us.

I to would have had sympathy for them until the relegation fodder came onto our site opening their mouths!

Agree0 Disagree0

I used to like villa until their person fans came on here gobbing off because their star man wants to join us.
You didn't see us slating the chavs on their site when modric wanted to go there or us on Manchester United site when berbatov done the off.
It proved me wrong about villa fans. The m. orons posting on here give proper villa fans a bad name.

Great interview on Talksport website Paulinho talking about his move to us.
Speaks from the heart he's definitely thought about his future with us!

I believe Bale will stay with us for this season. just looking at how much Los Blancos have spent already (about 90 million) this window. I can't see them bidding for Gareth. they (RM) must be in massive debt or have a big backer. only other way for them to get Bale is to do a deal that includes cash and a few of their players. any thoughts ED on who we would take {Ed008's Note - I think the players that were mentioned in exchanging were Coentrao,Di Maria and Modric..

Does anyone else think transfer fees and wages are going crazy. The Marca paper is saying Man City willing to offer Ronaldo 18 million euros per season!
We could never compete with that kind of money. what about the FFP.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why do you think their owners managed to get a 'sponsorship' deal worth £500million from a company they have ties with?
It evens up FFP with their outlay.
The whole of football is crooked in one way or another.

Off topic I know, but us spurs fans have the best discussions and opinions. So who do you think will be the strongest country for domestic teams next year?

France- psg look very very strong now with cavani. Although nothing else continentally next year apart from them? Year after, monaco become involved.

Germany- bayern munich nothing needs saying. Leverkusen and dortmund both young squads who can have major scalps continentally.

Italy- napoli are weakened without cavani but hamsik can still cause major teams issues. Milan will be a force with el sharaway and balotelli (playing for a club he loves seems to bring out his best) and juventus are looking stronger uptop now to add to the strong midfield and defence. Italian football is undoubtely looking strong again.

Spain - barcelona with neymar is frightening. No longer can I team just prepare for messi and iniesta. They will to deal with a new array of attacking options. If they have brains they would utilise thiago now before they lose him with an ageing xavi taking a quieter role. Madrid under ancelloti will be an interesting watch and are still a fearsome sight.

England- lots of change happening here and I can see teams watching there backs domestically this season. If any who can advance to the later champions league stages? I am undecided

What are your thoughts guys?

I don't think that Italian football has been as strong a force as it was 15-20 years ago. Back then Italian football was what Spanish football is now. Sure you have Milan, Inter that are always going to be playing up there with the best, but I think you'll see Juve come on strongly now and other teams will struggle to keep in touch with them.

France is an interesting one with PSG and now free spending Monaco, you still have Marseille and Lyon so they are stronger than previous years. So you could possibly see a French team, certainly in the semis of the CL, but if things keep going, maybe a winner in 2015.

Spain is always going to be up there with Barca and Real. Although you are right, I think Barca with Neymar are a different level of frightening! I don't think much needs to be said about Spanish football, other than it's all about Barca and Real. Although neither won the CL they are still the best teams in Europe for me.

Germany have some very strong teams, but I don't think that they have strengthened as much as other leagues around Europe. So very much like Italy, they will always be there, with textbook German discipline, but I don't think they will be the force they were last year. Esepcially is, as expected, the likes of Lewandowski move on.

English football seems to be getting left behind somewhat. Teams are strenghthening, but the most sought after players in world football (apart from Bale) seem to be moving to teams on the continent and leaving England behind. This does however, spell good news for the future of English international football as people will be relying more on academy products.

I agree. Although iseriously think that juve and ac will dominate itialian football now if ac keep their finances okay and can see at least 1 cl by 2020.

Bayern are going be a strong force still and I can still see them beating madrid for e. g.

English teams are really going to struggle I think for the next 2 years atleast.

Im really loving football at the moment. England and continental football just seems like its going to be very competitive and open and with lots of differnent styles competing against each other.
