AVB, I hope you read this site, because you might njust learn something.

Playing wingers on their weaker side doesn't work, it causes them to cut inside (and if your townsend) shot, they need to be getting to the byline and crossing for soldaldo.
Also Soldaldo ISN'T a lone striker that again is sooo obvious.
It is also very obvious that; Townsend, Siggy, Dembele and Dawson just aren't good enough for the level we want to achieve.
It is also very obvious that we need a better reserve GK, I love friedel and he is a very good professional, but IMO he was at fault for the goal against Sheriff in midweek and I believe that if Lloris was in goal against newcastle Remy wouldn't have scored.

Everybody has been saying AVB doesn't know his best XI and I can understand that, however he will never know it if he keeps rotating 8-10 players each game. IMO if he is to continue we his current formation I would go with a starting XI of:

Lloris,
Walker,
Chiriches
Kaboom
Vert

Sandro
Paulinho

Lennon (Right side)
Eriksen
Lamela (Left side)

Soldaldo

And give this team a run of 6-10 games and see where it goes.

At least Lamela and lennon will get to line and cross giving Soldado a chance of scoring.

When January comes I would get a new LB and play Vert at Center half with Chiriches.

Almost every fan not just spurs fans can see our short comings, so why can't AVB. He needs to start living up to his tag of one of the most promising young managers in the world and sort out this mess.

Superb Review.

Thank god avb is manager and not you is all I can say to that.

And why is that Derbyshire? At least do the honour of explaining why . The only change I can see needed there until new LB, is Capoue instead of Paulinho, who slows us down to much!

Davo, I make you right about changing Capoue for Paulinho, the only reason I put Paulinho in was because at the moment Capoue isn't fully fit, but when he is everyday him over paulinho.

Derbyshire Dave, please explain why and what it is you disagree with, rather than just leaving a negative comment.

Firstly, it wasnt a negative comment quite the opposite really as I was backing our present manager where-as your comments were negative against the present management, now that is your opinion and you are entitled to that opinion and this is a great place to air your opinions just don't expect everyone to agree with them.

playing inverted wingers allows them to step inside opening up the wing for our quick full backs to overlap and produce ANOTHER option for attack. This is the modern way for full backs to play and walker as rose did finds plenty of attacking positions in the space left there.also when coming inside many other options appear allowing us to a) retain possession and b) probe from all area'son the pitch not JUST down the wings as the english game always used to be played, we have moved on from those days. European football allows for skill and tecnique to come to the fore rather than banging down the channels to cross in for the big lad to try and score. barcelona very rarely cross a corner let alone use fast wingers as this is the best way to give the ball away. west ham like to get it down the channels and we have seen where they are in the league table (its very old hat that policy is)

soldado scored all his goals last season as alone striker. his role is more about movement and opening gaps up for the three behind him this is why defoe isn't used as much because he doesn't open the gaps up for us.

3 out of the 4 you say are not good enough for us are internationals although dawson I agree isn't good enough
Freidel also not good enough but its hard to get a brilliant number 2 keeper so I guess he is a better option than gomes

we only rotate 8-10 players as a rule when playing cup matches when playing back to back prem games there isn't the same kind of mass changes.

we are sat well in the league and there is 6 points between the top 6 teams at present so we are not doing badly with a very inexperienced premier team. lamela showed how good he is as are most the signings but they need time to adjust to the riggers of the premier league and I don't mean 10 games possibily even a whole season this is very much a transitional team and we should all show a bit more nous and have a bit more patience we have a super team in the making here and we will reap the rewards just not here and npow.

the media, pundits and fellow pro's have all paid the highest acolades to townsend so far for his performances yet you say he isn't worthy of playing for spurs, well you can see why I and some very qualified people disagree with you he has got himself and international call up and won man of the match on several occasions.

this is only my opinion and perhaps others as well but like I said at the start we are all entitled to our opinions but when we air them we must accept not everyone will agree but what we should all agree on is that is was lovely seeing arsenal losing on sunday

Can not agree more derbyshire dave - bang on the money

Well put DD. I'm behind you on that one. We all knew with all the new players signed that it would take time yet some peoples patitience runs out to quickly.

Agree with Derbyshire Dave. This a team on the up and, as I have said before, Spurs fans should be optimistic.
Would like to see this team in 2 weeks time:

-----------------Lloris-------------------
Walker---Kaboul---Vertonghen---Rose
---------Sandro------Dembele---------
---Townsend-----Eriksen-----Lamela------------------Soldado-----------------

* Play Kaboul as he has played well in his last couple of games.
* Rest Paulinho. He needs a break, and would like to see Sandro & Dembele start together again, as they were brilliant at the beginning of last season.
* Give Lamela & Eriksen starts and allow them to interchange in their favoured positions (ACM).

Derbyshire Dave, Thank you for explaining your previous comment and I completely take on board all you have said and agree with most of it. Your posts make very good reading and I do enjoy reading your well thought out and constructive posts, this is way I asked you to explain the original post. As you say we are all entitled to our own opinion and very much enjoy a good mature debate. I am not slating AVB, as I think he is as good a manager as we have had in a long time, its just sometimes he does some very strange things which baffle me.

The only point of your reply which I don't agree with (and this is my opinion) is the wingers on opposing flanks, I understand what you are saying about the overlapping full backs but they can still over lap with wingers playing on their right sides as these wingers can still cut inside opening up space, look at Lennon and Walker of 18months ago they were virtually unplayable at times, the problem I have is if players don't have 2 good feet if they don't inside and are forced down the wing crosses are poor giving other players no chance in the box. In respects to players I quoted as not good enough for spurs, I should have stated that with the squad we have I believe they are not good enough for the starting XI. Townsend is a strange player in the fact that he obviously has an abundance of talent and 2 good feet, for England he has been outstanding, MIXING up from cutting inside and hitting the by line, however for England when he cuts inside he gets his head up and looks for a pass, if there is no pass he shoots, which is fine and when he hits the byline he whips in decent crosses. However for Spurs he seems to cut inside far to much and shoots on site. If the boy can produce his England form at Club level then I would play him all day long.

The one thing we have in common is the mighty Spurs, and has previous said by many fans, this is a transitional season and its going well and IMO a tweek or 2 can make it a very good season, next season who Knows!?!?!?

Hass, totally agree with that team although I would play Lennon instead of Townsend, would play the wingers on their proper sides! I think both Erikson and Lamela need a good run of games! Yes we are a team gelling together, so we will be up and down, but we need to do it quickly, and that only happens if players get a run out in their proper positions {Ed008's Note - Lamela needs to play Right side and Townsend plays left 2 different options Walker overlapping Lamela when he cuts in.

DD, understand your opinions but as THFC says we have winger problems! While AVB plays them on opposing sides, they will always try to cut inside before looking to get to the byline . Not a problem if, 1 - they look up for the pass and don't get shoot on sightitess, 2- the ball is played a damn sight quicker than it is! People keep saying that other teams park the bus, well by the time we get it forward they have closed the station!
We also have to stamp on Dawson and Friedel hoofing the ball 35 yards everytime they get it . Play the ball out, quickly, and let the ball players use it .
