I have always assumed that Sherwood was just a stop gap and was only given an 18 month contract because he refused to take the job on any other terms. He knew he would probably be replaced in the summer, so wanted to be sure he got a decent pay off when he went.

Of course I have doubts about him, but I am in two minds about changing managers yet again.

Putting our faith in a man with no previous managerial experience might seem like a high risk strategy, but that is what Liverpool did when they gave one of the biggest jobs in English football to the completely untried Paisley, Fagan and Dalglish. I would happily settle for a fraction of the 10 League titles, 4 European Cups, 2 FA Cups and other trophies they picked up along the way.

I also wonder when there will ever be any stability or continuity at White Hart Lane.

In 1984, Burkinshaw resigned after 8 years in charge, because he couldn't get on with the new owners. In the 30 years since then, we have had 17 full time Managers or Head Coaches. In the previous 30 years it was 4 (none of whom were sacked).

I leave other fans to decide whether 1954 to 1984 (12 trophies) was more successful than 1984 to 2014 (3).

KM, the past looks more successful yes, but money wasn't such a big deal then, and there was good English managers to be had . There isn't now, and Sherwood isn't up to the job yet! If LVG comes in, then work with him for a couple of years, then we would see an older and much wiser Sherwood who could lead us for years . The trouble is Tim is so pigheaded and stubborn he wouldn't accept that, even though he must know that's the best route . Everybody keeps saying he is 110% Spurs, then stop bull canards and prove it!
