Did Owen sign for anyone?

I don't rate him that much but we need another striker to sit on the bench incase one gets injured.

Saying that, Owen will probably get injured on the bench anyways.

He's on a free, pay as you play contract....

Just throwing it out there. What do you guys think.

Would hate to see Owen at the club. He is not what we need. Defoe plays his role and we have dempsey now so no need for an injury prone player.

I would have loved moutinho, but look at our team, great team, great supporters and unlike the selling team next door, we are moving forward.

This will be arsenals last season in champions league.

Levy has run our club great n is a big reason we are where we are. Be patient.

Hmmmm a wee bit disappointed but will give benefit of doubt. Really thought Moutinho would have helped the team especially after Modric & Van Der Vart leaving. Any ideas Eds what happened or did Levy lead us up an alley again?

I love Spurs and always will but the false promises or chance of players coming to us is getting annoying. We are a club that will not spend more than what we earn, which is fine! But surely we have made a fortune in sales and CL in last couple of season? Ed please help me understand? {Ed041's Note - from what i heard it was wages that failed the deal with moutinho i think it was a case levy thought he would take the wage structure in the club but was wrong,Spurs still did good buisness on paper this transfer window just give the signings a chance see how they will work.

Unlike the selling team next door? We've let 12-13 players go (1 retired, 2 released, 2-3 on loan and sold the rest), two of them were Rafa and Modric i.e. world class. We've bought in 6; Ade is 1 we had last year already so i count 5; 1 is our 4th goalkeeper so 4 new outfield players! Levy is in the black having made about £63m+ and spending £55m ish.

That is a selling club and one that isn't in the Champions League again.

You're having a laugh if you think that's an upgrade. Vert could come good for us but is replacing a top-class centre-back in Ledley. We had Ade already and Saha was a stop-gap that has left and not been replaced, even if you think Sig for VDV and Dempsey for Saha, hardly an upgrade. 4 goalkeepers, how did we not sell one of them?

Moutinho would've swung it completely, without him we've been severely let down! Literally, it's our money, tickets, shirts, Sky subscriptions etc.

I'm not deluded mate, we have dropped 5points already, should have had 2-3 of them. We have a 'new' team who now have to gel in games 3, 4, 5 etc when more points may go begging. We are short on strikers, we have lost one of the best players in the world in Modric (hence Real Madrid wanted him) and NOT replaced him, Rafa is gone - World Cup finalist with craft and guile who added a winning, top-level mentality to the squad.
We have scored a ping-pong tap-in and a deflected long-range effort from our full-back in two games and, not created anywhere near as many chances as we did in the same two fixtures last year (which yielded us 4 points). We should beat Norwich at home, although we didn't last season, however I cannot see us coping with the long season ahead with this squad. I can't see us getting enough goals unless we are VERY lucky with injuries and suspensions which we aren't at the moment with Kaboul gone for 4mths already.

As a REAL SPurs fan, of course i really hope AVB finds a system that gets us playing as well as Sept-Dec last year and having an equally good run but he has a serious job on. Do you think I want to be ripped yet again, like last year and many other years for us falling short by Chavskis, Goons and Spammers? No thanks.

Hey Ed, I don't mind who has a positive opinion and was only replying to being called deluded and jumping on the band-wagon etc by justifying my comments. I actually really rate Dembele and Dempsey did a good job last year. Vert is rated by all who have played with and watched him regularly, Ade i wanted back more than a lot of others did but, we have definitely been the victims of a Levy 'we pulled out all the stops' kind of stroke. We've seen these sagas before when losing Berbs, Modric last year, Modric/Rafa this year, along with the many big 'ghost-transfers' we've seen fail before. I said earlier there was a good chance the Moutinho breakdown was a smoke-screen to make us feel grateful for not signing anybody else (outfield) today and it turned out to be a failure and we get Dempsey instead. Dempsey as well as him would've been great but, we have definitely been let down in my opinion. I still hope we come good however Thursday/Sunday hits everybody year in year out, we will do well to avoid the effects with the squad i think.

Hopefully they'll all hit the ground running together. I don't want anybody to fail but we aren't exactly blessed with luck either (e.g. last season!)

How old are you if you don't mind me asking (I'm not being sarcastic) it's just most "younger" spurs fans do not know what it was like before levy.

We were not at a great place, we were a top 10 team but NEVER could dream of getting in top 4. Now top 4 is expected.

We are competing against clubs with limitless funds and if it was not for levy, we would still be just a top 10 team.

We have good players, not league winners but we are getting better. Getting champions league would have made things a lot easier for levy but we didn't. We can't expect to buy world class players until we can offer them champions league football. Getting Vertonghen, Lloris and bale to sign a long term contract is a great achievement in itself. We don't want to spend big, raise ticket prices, and then find ourselves ruined for the next 3 years wage n spare money wise just like Liverpool find themselves in now.

Like Ed said, give the players and manager a chance, after all, we are doing better than last year so far and we finished 4th!

I hope I don't sound pompous but we should get behind the team first and ask question AFTER it has gone wrong.

TV just reported they think moutinho deal is dead and Dempsey is a replacement- that would suck and leave us with very little creativity in midfield-would also make selling vdv pointless

DSM in the house. Sorry it's taken a while but heres the latest, the greatest most ITK-iest gossip around. Ok we all know that Moutinho is in the bag. My sources say this Sky nonsense is all just a smokescreen to hide the other arrivals. Expect him to put pen to paper around 8pm. 
In other news we are in for two MAJOR targets. The first is a certain Fulham rebel (duh) and the second is......... DAMIAO! 
Believe and know this! Although Dempsey is a fall back in case we can't pull the Brazilian deal off. 
I have bob on ITK that this is a real possibility. Think about it. What's the point of having an awesome midfield and then crap strikers? 
It's pretty 50:50 at the moment but my mate Agent 'J' reckons that Levy is pulling out all the stops.

Hi ed with moutinho been included in the squad for Porto tomorrow as well as flying out there,,, does that mean deal is definitely off? Or can still happen? {Ed008's Note - Anything can happen but i can't believe people are going that he's on a plane to algrave for Porto's game tomorrow it's just twists it's either yes or no and im sure Spurs wouldnt have bidded 22m if they were confident of agreeing a deal for Moutinho and i can't see Wages being a problem considering what they pay in Portuguese Liga which is nothing at Premier League level!

Look moutinho was always in that squad because he is still there player. My feeling is, the reason sky say there is a problem, is cos he got on a plane with his current squad. Kia joarabchin is his agent. He will be dealing with the whole transfer. My bet is that moutinho has already had a medical as the deal was being held up by vdv sale.
How do sky know talks ave broke down. Sky have seen him getting on that plane and put 2 and 2 together. My opinion only tho.
If he sells vdv and modric and doesn't get a playmaker in, then he will be crucified.

Defoe is an impact player for last 20 minutes..

He may not be that type of player to lead the line but if we need to change the style of play and use 2 up top he will do well!

Don't mean to alarm anyone but we are odds on to sign Llorente on and 8/13 on another site! Apparently a 12.5million Euro bid plus 5 million in add ons has gone in. Ed do you know anything? {Ed008's Note - I'm trying to find more info about Llorente have faith!

Llorente does look like a typicall levy transfer target. Needs to be sold possible to get him on the cheap after 1700gmt (if that is when Italian window closes) which would knock juventus out of the equation.

On g**gle when I typed in Leandro damiao and went on news, it states that he is available for season long loan and available for permanent transfer to Liverpool. This is annoying. Any truth ed? {Ed008's Note - Literally have no idea it would seem unlikely but we'll have to wait and see...

Rumors on a site I frequent has Levy trying to make a last minute deal for Berbatov, stealing him from Fulham.

I hope this is true, if, and only if, Damiao and Llorente do not arrive.

I'm excited though! Lloris, Moutinho (fees agreed for both), and a striker....Maybe another versatile forward like Remy/Willian if the funds are available.

We will be set for next season.

We are still well in the black on cash even after the Moutinho deal. It's no secret i'd take Berbs if we're not getting in another big name, yes we want Llorente or Damaio but if it's not happening we need somebody and not gambling £10, 15 or 20m out of desperation so he's good, cheap cover.

Squad is not quite deep enough but with the right addition or two before the end of today it could definitely be good enough to push top four if they all gel and hit the ground running.

Tottenham have agreed a £30m fee with Porto for midfielder Joao Moutinho and a £14m deal for Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The special agreement you refer to with International, is a commercial partner which includes buying rights over academy players. This clause would not apply to Damiao but do not underestimate the the financial pressures of such an arrangement.

Anyway to simplify the Damiao situation, he isn't going to Liverpool as he is our new number 9.

Looks like moutinho will be signing today, pundits in portugal have sai that the fee was agreed late wednesday early thursday, and that we needed to agree with hamburg about rvd. they also say that the personal terms are no problem as they were agreed last week. with regards to a number 9 it looks like that will be given to either berba or owen. it wont be for a world class striker we all want as most of the cash we have will go on moutinho.

I think Moutinho would be great and if Llorente, Damaio or KJH follow by 11pm tonight then brilliant. I still think our squad numbers are tight to cope with Europa League if we get one or two more key injuries on top of Kaboul but, we will have replaced quality with quality.

I can't see us making two such huge signings in the one day though but, all the talk of Ade being on the bench if we sign Llorente/AN Other striker is rubbish really. When we're at home we should be able to play both against most teams and get seriously clinical. If AVB wants to take cups and Europe seriously then we also need to rotate them regularly to cope with Thursday/Sunday and later rounds, we need cover if the system is the 4-5-1/4-3-3 using only one main striker, Defoe isn't big or versatile enough to lead the line.

For cheap and cheerful (well more sullen) cover with proven quality we could've done the Berbs deal at £4.5m - regardless of the haters, makes financial and footballing sense if not wanting to splash out on another big signing to give us an option up front.

I feel that the sale of Jenas could be our greatest of the window if only we can pull this off. For years he has floated around the pitch never really achieving anything. Then one game is 20 he puts in a half decent display and the cycle continues. I recal have a bet with a friend regarding tackles made and passes (FORWARD) that found their target. I accept it was his darkest hour at the Lane, but the point was made he was simply ineffectual. He slowed up every offensive sequence with poor positioning and sideways or backward passing. He dwelt on the ball, and failed to make any meaningful tackles for match after match. In fact during the time we reviewed him, you could cynically put his positioning or failures down to nearly half of the goals conceeded.

I know there are discussion with some squad players, and I for one hope that we can ship out Jenas along with Bentley, Gomes and Rose.

Wishful thinking, but one can only dream.
