I see the Independent is speculating that we are about to sell Soldado to Atletico for £13m.

That doesn't sound like very good business, but they also report that £13m is all we paid up front to Valencia. The rest was all related to various targets (which presumably haven't been met). If that is so, it means we might be able to recover most of what he actually cost us.

If he goes back to Spain and immediately starts banging in the goals again, of course we will all regret it, but he has had such a tought time since he joined us that it seems unlikely he will suddenly turn it all around next season. This move might be for the best thing for him and for us.

I personally think we need to keep him for another year. We did not play a system to suit him last year along with the influx of new players needing to settle and bed in.

Still woul like Lukaku, Ade and Soldado. What a strike force tht would be.

I believe we require another striker along two maybe three defenders, get rid of the likes of Naughton, Holtby, Dawson, Livermore & Ekotto.

Soldado great scorer will ram stats down peoples throats next year was managed by idiots and not played too his strengths, I mean what. Chance of you got with Townsend and Lennon come on you guys get off his back and back him soldado will come good under poc he might even be top scorer next year if with us hope its paper malarkey .

Totally agree bobby box, I rate Soldado quite a lot, he like the other acquisitions will be a lot better in their second year. Proven time and time again that players from abroad take time to adapt to the best league in the world!

Soldado reminds me of what Robbie leaned used to be like at spurs, so hopefully he will live upto expectations this season! Also I feel we need someone similar to the style of berbatov rather than adebayor. I think adebayor is a brilliant player but feel he's a bit of a solitary striker and when they both played up front they both were in each other way. I feel well beck would be ideal for us so then we have the front 3 of RW lamela LW well rock and soldado up front and rotate him and ade also I feel we need to beat Liverpool to Lallana they've just bid 25 million but if we bid about 30 at the most I'd take him and put him eriksen and dembelle in the middle.

I think llana will join Liverpool and spurs aren't even interested at the price as we have too many midfielders already at the club. More than likely probs won't sign anyone from Southampton unless they are defenders. Rodriguez is injured

£30m for Lallana when we already have eriksen, that's just not good business

£27m for Shaw is the business to try and do, use the MoPo connection and try. He knows how to play him and Shaw gets first team football and not necessarily under same pressure as going straight to Chelsea or even United but, still plenty of time for a 'Real' type move n the future if wanted.

£27mil for shaw? are you absolutely off your meds? Not a penny above £12mil

I can see Levy agreeing to sign Lallana and giving MoPo the man in the middle he wants after AVB didn't get Moutinho to pull the strings for him on the field.

Though if he does I hope they figure out how to play him alongside Eriksen.

I would love him for £12m but it seems the price is £27m ish. My point is with Llalana rumours of around £25m, why on earth would we not switch that attention to Shaw? a) a position we're desperate to improve, b) younger player and rated very highly, more than Llalana who we don't need.
As it is I doubt either are even on our radar, the crocked and CHEAPER (lesser) talent of Rodriguez maybe real.

Simmo,

I hear what you are saying but I don't really rate either. Agree that we need to bolster the defence but our midfield will be stronger this year as the players have had time to adapt.

As for the defence I would love A.Cole to cross the city for Spurs as he is quality and better than what we have by a country mile.

Get rid of Naughton (RUBBISH) and D.Rose is steadily improving but not quite there yet.

Foxspur, agree get rid of Naughton, and Dawson, but Rose is improving?? He must have been total rubbish, if he has improved to the level he is at now! As for not rating Shaw, are you blind? By far and away one of the best LB in the PL!

Davo, yes I am blind but only in one eye lol. I agree he did very well last season but would personally want to see another good season out of him before committing to buy! As for D.Rose, I never rated him last season as some people may remember but he did ok and just that - ok. Hence suggesting A.Cole, yes at 33 (I think) is getting old but still quality and free. Hell why not get shaw and Cole then I would be happy :)

Also Dawson, I like his commitment but he is getting slow and cost us a few points last season but still good. If our defence stays fit this season and with a few additions as mentioned I think we could do well next season, but our strike force needs to improve drastically also.

Lallana looks half decent and Luke Shaw is improving, but the talk of £25m+ for each is mind boggling. There is no way we should be looking to spend that sort of money on these two players.

Fryers is the man we need to give a chance at LB, skilful and pacey with great defensive qualities.

Eriksen is different class to Lallana, and I cannot see a great benefit unless Eriksen comes into a CAM role. Even in this example Konoplyanka looks a much stronger player than Lallana.

fryers looked more comfortable playing left CB than LB, not saying he can't progress. I'd consider Ben Davies at 21 years old for $12-15m looks like a value purchase compared to $25-27m for Shaw.

Lallana was tremendous last season and I feel at a club like spurs he'll flourish into an even better player than he is! Also this talk about shaw, yes he's a good player but I feel he's a bit mediocre just now. As for Rose. The guy can't defend! He is just a mess of a left back, we need a solid defender that can cross that is all we ask for! So please mopo get a left back!

I'm with you although Cole would be divisive, many fans on-line detest the idea of him joining. I am desperate given Rose was awful and Fryers, for what he promises, seems iffy and had one of the worst games at LB in one of the worst quality matches all round I've seen at Spurs in recent years (vs Cardiff). He definitely had better games as last-ditch CB cover. I think Shaw is v.good and should go on to be excellent - high quality already for an 18/19 yr old so there are many years ahead of him. What might that be worth? Big wages for Cole and still got to sign somebody within a year or so, if they're then in their mid-late 20s then may get one decent length contract out of them and be looking again. Shaw could play for 12-15yrs! All ifs and buts, my main point was always we should no-way be considering Llalana at the price. I think I'd have baulked at £13-15m for him. More TV money just means more stupid fees and wages for now, crazy.
Dawson definitely too slow now for system we're likely to play, was found out a lot last year.
We can flog Dawson, Rose (to make sure we sign another LB!), BAE, Carrol (always going to be too small, not exceptional enough to compensate in my opinion and hasn't come on under Harry according to various fans there), Siggy (shame but too bit-part to warrant keeping and Chadli offers more despite the stick he gets) and Livermore.
That should raise £25m+ to start with and clear several wage bills.

I totally agree with all your saying but not Carroll. His passing looks exceptional and baulk him up a bit and we have a real player under our hands keep a hold of him for a couple of more years then see where he goes from their. Another youth talent to look out for is Alex Pritchard he looks like a class act!

Hi Rosscocee
Just wondering what you're basing those Carroll opinions on? I've seen a bit of him over the past couple of years and hardly ever see much of this passing ability. They're constantly astray and I've always put it down to it just being a snap-shot of games in teams where he's new or, that he's young and learning but, to be honest, 22 isn't that young when it looks like there is such a long way to go. As for bulking him up, again 22 is not young enough to think he'll suddenly have a growth spurt or couldn't have ripped up a bit by now. At 22 I was a far different physical proposition than 18/19 but, at 24/25 there wasn't much in it, I was probably on the decline by then! ;-)
Also, I have a lot of Derby fan clients and spoken to a couple of QPR season ticket holders who are mates and they all have one word for him, four letters in it I'm afraid.
