allright boys. any news on any new CB's coming in after the chiriches deal got called off? and what are the odds of getting lamela.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I thought the deal was back on & the 23-year-old should arrive after his club completes a two-legged Champions League qualifier against Dinamo Tbilisi.

Might be wrong though.

Agree2 Disagree1

Why not try for Williams from Swansea good cb would cost 10-12m.

Agree4 Disagree4

I wouldn't write off the Chiriches deal yet, Lamela might be available for about 30m

Hearing of a £15m move for Nani as bale replacement.

Believable5 Unbelievable8

I think this would be a good deal. Proven premiership player. Quick, scores goals and has a great touch. However he can be a bit of a moaner and lazy. I would say a good squad team player.

Agree6 Disagree4

Sorry but too inconstant for me but chicarito would be a class signing. would be perfect with saldado nic the yid

Agree7 Disagree6

Are ye serious? Nani would be a complete waste of money!

Agree8 Disagree2

Far too inconsistent for the money. No thank you.

Agree5 Disagree3

Don't see Nani as the same profile of player as most the others names being linked with us.

Agree4 Disagree1

Cannot see nani commanding a fee of 15m at all. Maybe like 9-10 pushing it.

Would be a great signing I think, still got much to prove given the platform to do it.

nani, martinez and mangala = top 4.

Agree0 Disagree3

Ccfc fan here I think 105m Is abit to much for bale and Real Madrid are crazy to pay that much. Good luck guys this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

A good deal £15m. Hmmm. I think not. He's gone off the ball of late in my opinion, that's why UTD want rid.

There's better out there for that price.

Agree1 Disagree0

Nani is rubbish and certainly not worth anything like 15 million. Struggled badly to make any impression at Old Trafford. Not good enough.

Agree5 Disagree0

Agree7 Disagree0

Apparently not. or at least not in the squad.

Just heard that Madrid have offered Kaka as part of the Bale deal. Doubt this will happen though as he I don't think he would be keen on a move to Spurs and Levy wouldn't meet his wage demands?

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Kaka is over rated. If we are going to get any player its likely to Fabio coentraio as part of the deal or they can pay a massive fee in cash. Either way Real Madrid will be made to pay by Levy well over the top for robbing one of our players

Agree8 Disagree1

Is this the same Madrid who still owe money for Modric

Agree5 Disagree2

Kaka?
No thanks. I wouldn't take him for Bale if person picked up his entire pay check. Jese or Morata or Pissoffa.

Dempsey to sign for Everton

Believable4 Unbelievable13

Thank God for that. At least it means we won't end up with him at the Villa.
A seriously over rated and useless waste of space.
Clarrie Blue.

Agree3 Disagree8

Villa fan you could do with someone like dempsey at villa to not burdeon benteke. One man battling relegation

Agree10 Disagree2

Apparently dempsey in talks with seattle sounders of the MLS.

Agree8 Disagree3

I think clarries still upset that he turned them down flat last summer. i'm from Brum & villa fans at work were lining up for private time in the loo's when their bid was accepted only for Clint to break their hearts.

Agree3 Disagree0

Dempsey to Seattle in the MLS for US$9 million

Agree0 Disagree1

Clarrie Blue - what a moby. {Ed002's Note - I used to really dig Moby Grape.}

Anyone know if bale is travelling to Monaco today?

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Quotes

Gareth Bale will miss Tottenham’s friendly against Monaco tomorrow because he does not want to put his move to Real Madrid at risk by sustaining a serious injury.

Bale has received more treatment on his injury at the training ground this week and will not feature against Monaco. He will not even travel with the squad to the principality, having reiterated his desire to quit White Hart Lane at a meeting with chairman Daniel Levy earlier this week. {Ed008's Note - If it's a qoute who provided it? How can a journalist make a claim like this I just don't understand.

Agree3 Disagree2

I'm with you all the way on this one Ed's, But it's in various papers now, I know don't believe everything you read. But whether we like it or not this is happening.

At first I honestly thought Bale was staying if only for 1 more season (which still may happen I don't know), But I think us Spurs fans need to start preparing for next season without Wing-Nut.

I personally think we're in a win win situation regardless of the outcome, providing we get a good chunk of his transfer money & spend it wisely.

To be fair to Bale - He's been great for us & I do wish him good luck.

Agree3 Disagree1

Couldn't agree more. Best of luck to him.

Agree3 Disagree1

I hate to admit it but the deal being offered is probably too old to be true. don't think we have much say in the issue as long as we spend the large part of the fee in recruiting 3 or 4 top class players.

Agree0 Disagree1

It's weird. If he does go, he'll be one of the few players that I won't be resentful towards. He has been a great servant and the reason he hasn't said anything in public is for our sake. He knows how much we love him and what's he means to us. But with the money and it being one of the biggest clubs in the world it's understandable. he's remained the utmost proffesional throughout all this, I wish him all the best and if he'll always be welcome back at the lane.

Agree3 Disagree1

Remember that almost all of these stories will be in several papers because they all report on what each other are saying and regurgitating it. Several papers does not mean several independent verifications of the story, it means:

Independent : according to the Guardian
Guardian : according to the Mail
Mail : according to the Mirror
Mirror : according to TalkSport
Talksport : according to my mate down the pub

Actually thinking about it if Talksport actually gave such a clear source of a quote as that it would be a massive step up in journalistic quality for them.

Heard from a source who works for Spurs that Bale WILL leave. I honestly believe it isn't a bad thing. If we can get 3 more £25 million players with the same quality as Soldado, then we are more likely to get a Champions League place than just having Bale alone.

Believable9 Unbelievable8

Are you in a dreamworld. there's no way after soldado arrives Spurs will spend 75 million ( 3 x 25 million) on more players.

Agree4 Disagree7

Would love lamela and Suarez. That would make us title contenders without a doubt

Agree4 Disagree8

If this does happen then maybe Bernard can be brought in! As we would have the money

Agree2 Disagree4

We need to accept the bale deal will be done. We can't turn down 100 odd mil and can maybe get another player that will improve the team before the start of the season. We should be happy we've finally got a world class striker, a world class midfielder and a potential star winger. I'm excited for the new season without bale if I'm honest. Ed can you clarify any fingers in pies at the moment?
F34 {Ed008's Note - Fingers in the Pie?

Agree3 Disagree0

Why wouldn't we invest the money back into the squad! Everybody has Champions League ambitions (including Levy) so surely the money would be better spend in the squad that put in Levy's back pocket!

Agree2 Disagree0

The money doesn't go into levy's backpocket

Agree2 Disagree0

Because we want a new stadium!

Agree2 Disagree1

Plans for a new stadium are already well in motion and are not dependant of incoming transfer fees. Fact

Agree2 Disagree0

When Bale leaves for £100m, we have to try to kill two birds with one stone, and get Coemtrao and DiMaria thrown in for £40m. Remember that Real Madrid like paying in instalments, and this will increase tge difficulty to make immediate funds avaialble for our own purchases.

If we can get £30m upfront with two players, then we can go and buy another striker, or get Christian Eriksen who seems a snip at £15m.

We are still owed £20m on the Modric deal, and this whole Bale affair is beginning to smell like a stadium medium term funding plan. I hope Levy does sell at £100m+, but remains mindful of the players we need to push on this year. {Ed002's Note - Forget the instalments. RM would like to include players in the deal or sell. Right now the status is that Coentrao remains possible but Di Maria is not interested in a move. Coentrao was withdrawn from any package as it looked like they could sell him (representing a better deal for Madrid). Now that looks off so he is back on again and they are looking at a replacement for him as well. They have had discussions with Chelsea over another player (although Chelsea would like to take two) which will help the cash pile. There remains a chance that Levy may get his way and push for Modric who Real Madrid want to hold on to now and/or Morata.}

Ed what's happening with Dempsey? I've heard a lot of rumours saying he's off to the MLS but can't understand why that would be. Could you shed any light on this? {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware, he is unlikely to be going anywhere this summer. MLS would love him though.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

There is talk he is in the USA at the minute and might be talking to Everton who are there on tour.
Spursmad Dave.

Agree0 Disagree0

Each team in the MLS can have one overseas premium player that does not have to fit into the financial restraints of the rest of the team. At the moment Seattle doesn't have one. People/press in USA saw Dempsey in a US airport yesterday (can't remember which airport) so they simply put 2 and 2 togeather and came up with 5.

In a World Cup year and still having much to offer the right team in atop flight league, "Deuce" will not be retiring to the MLS. If anything he's there meeting with Everton as Martinez is a know admirer of our Clint.

Some of us have given Dempsey stick for not really fitting in with us. I think he did well. Compare his season with VdV the year before and it's as follows - VdV scored 14 and assisted in 8 others. Dempsey in the other hand scored 15 and assisted in 9, playing a lot less.

He's a good player. I really don't think AVB bought him, he was a Levy last minute panic buy, he was last seasons Saha (only better). Unfortunately he just doesn't fit the AVB system.

None of us would be surprised if he leaves. If he stays or if he goes, I thank Dempsey for his efforts in our lillywhite and wish him all the best for next year, apart from the games against us of course.

Flippit

Agree4 Disagree1

Well it looks like I was wrong about him not going to the MLS.

Never mind.

Flippit.
{Ed008's Note - I don't think any anybody expected Dempsey maybe after the World Cup this deal was done quick it seems.
