Modrics gone, the funds generated will be used to help generate enough money so we can think about building a new stadium without risking to much debt, expect one signing under £15 million.

Very good chance the Modric replacement is gonna boil down to M'vila vs Dembele. Reports also seem to suggest both will be available for £15 million. Out of interest who would Spurs fans prefer??
I'm gonna put it out there I'd prefer Dembele (more creative, Prem experience, good passer and, alongside Ben Arfa, the best dribbler in the league).
Press Agree for Dembele and Disagree for M'vila.
Cheers.
Believable17
Unbelievable6
It's a close one, both are brilliant but m'villa is a bit younger so it might tip the balance, I would be really happy with either though
Agree3

Isco and Moussa Sissoko. You could get both possibly for a little bit more than the one cost. Sissoko to me is a better option than Yann, stronger, faster, scores more goals and is a true box to box player. 2 for 1, get a GK, and another striker. DONE!!
Agree2
Disagree1
Dembele is versatile, very creative, and has experience playing in the prem. Dembele All day long
Agree2
Disagree1
I would say dembele. We already have one of the most promising defensive minded midfielders in sandro, and dembele is near enough life-for-like replacement for modric. Isco could be a last minute target.

Eds, with Spurs finally selling Modric to Real Madrid and signing this 'partnership' can you see Kaka coming in on loan for the season? He been linked many times in the past over a loan deal
Glenn {Ed008's Note - Marcotti desribed this perfectly on ESPN during Milan vs Sampdoria Kaka earns £10m+ after tax why would any team try to loan him? No interest I would say.

A wise man can sometimes be labelled the fool in the company of fools. So don't flatter yourself regarding me as a drinking partner. I only drink with real spurs supporters, and your level of intellectual stimulation would have me drowning in Stella Artois after 15 minutes.
On the Hulk front I wouldn't be so dismissive as we have had advanced talks regarding the player. I personally would be very doubtful of this reaching a positive conclusion, but this is certainly not the forlorn hope most pessimists refer to.

Have to say, and by no means am I ITK but I wouldn't be surprised if have signed Damiao subject to Modric sale. For AVB to say no more strikers (knowing 100% of media and fans know we need more) to me suggests we already had agreement in place. With this the hot rumours last week would time well. Here's hoping (although I do feel he's a bit of a risk- IMO the Olympic defences, Brazilian league and international club friendlys are a fair step down from the EPL standard in terms of physicality and commitment).

Come on guys, I think we are all underestimating Levy here. Come on, how many saw the partnership agreement with Real Madrid, none of you. Levy is a GENIUS. I get this chill down my spine but we are going to sign 3-4 more players maybe even 5 players. The future is going to be so bright. Levy knows what he is doing and so does AVB. This is a massive project we are undertaken which most of you are blinkered. We are going to have a crop of around 25 amazing young players in a year or two and with selling Modric and the deadwood we are going to sign some quality players.

The general consensus seems to be that we need a Modric replacement, another attacking midfielder/winger and a front man this week.
Dembele
Willian or Isco
Remy
Value and versatility there, and 3 realistic targets. There is gonna be one hell of a scramble for 4th this season between us, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Everton, but if we play this week right, it's there for the taking. COYS.
Believable8
Unbelievable2
The players i feel we would need to sign of those that have been talked about are Willain,Isco,Dembelle, Llorente and maybe Buttland. If Hudd and Dawson leave with Dos Santos,Bentley and Jenas the squad will be better but a lot thinner so why i add Isco &Dembelle.Mountinho would be great but never going to happen.
Agree2
Disagree3
I believe we need just 2 players: Lllorente, did not need Siggs or Ade and Munain to replace Modric. Period. I hope we stop wasting funds on players who do not add any real value, but just to bring in new faces, bullocks.
Agree3

At this rate add Swansea to the mix, they have played awesome lately. The same style as ourselves...
Agree2
Disagree2
Yeah they have played well but won't be able to keep it up for long I don't think. Around about Christmas time you will see who will do well this season. My team would be Lloris,Walker,Vertonghen,Kaboul,Assou-Ekotto,Sandro,Sigurdsson,Bale,Moutinho,Willian(can play wing) and Ade (4-2-3-1). Title challenging team who are fast, attacking, tactical and awesome. Don't say we wouldnt get Moutinho or whatever coz we are not a middle table team....we are top quality. We didn't get into the champions league in a lucky dip.

I can't believe that levy bid 11.8mil for willian when they value him at 20mil, what's the point! This is beginning to get embarrassing. I still think levy will secure some signings but it seems like he has been wasting a lot of time in this transfer window with pathetically low bids

It's no different to what rm did with modric, they starting bidding in the early 20s, and eventually got him for a bit (only a bit) cheaper than the original asking price. Just cos dan L starts at 11.8 doesn't mean that when he's rejected he goes 'alright then' and calls off the pursuit. Yes his way of doing things is frustrating, and is not ideal in the length of time deals take to complete, but when you are a club trying to compete with the big boys but have no free-spending oil sheikh owner, every penny counts

Not impossible, probably on loan though despite Real initially wanting him to be sold outright - maybe part of the partnership anounced with the Modric deal might see him and/or another fringe player deal ?
