Lots of papers reporting were close to a deal for Kalou, any truth Eds?

Please no, still must be better than Kane!

Kalou hasn't actually got a bad record when you look at it!

Would be decent for the price quoted!

Your constant mocking of Kane Davo is boring. Kane is much better than you think.

For a championship side or a relegation battling team maybe. No a team challenging for top4. Look at the teams around us and look at there strikers, the look at Harry Kane.

Thanks MrG, was beginning to believe spurski for a moment there and looking forward to seeing Kane in an England shirt in brazil . Then I woke up from my nightmare!

This comparison with Kane is ridiculous. Kalou is ten years older and we have seen his best days. You wouldve been saying the same thing about bale when he was Kane's age, not good enough for a top 4 team etc. we still don't know just how good Kane will be.

Kane is what 20? Lukaka is what 20? Don't quote ages, same age, one is a top 4 club striker, one isn't fit to lace the other ones boots! Who can guess which one is which?

Yes Lukaku is better, but people would of also said he was better than Bale when he was 20, look at him now. The point is potential, one still has time to become a top player and one doesn't.

I agree poshspur! Potential is the key and using Bale as a comparison, he is now 24? What's Lukaka going to be worth when he is 24?No one is saying Harry Kane isn't a player with potential, what is being said is there isn't a top ten club that would put excellent money on the table for him and queue to buy him if he was available . Therefore, he's not good enough!

How any true supporter can slate a young 20 year Spurs player who has never been given a chance is simply outrageous.

He has scored over a goal a game in the reserves, and has 12 in 24 at under 21 international level.

Give the kid a chance to shine and like Townsend he will come good. He has filled out in the last 18 months, and will soon be a force up front.

Oh dear I find myself agreeing with Oracle. How can we truly judge a player who hasn't been given a chance?

Saying that I don't rate Kane and have never seen anything to suggest he's a good player yet alone a decent prospect. Comparing him to Townsend isn't the same as even before this season when given a chance you could see Townsend had ability same with Carroll. I do hope Kane proves me wrong but I seriously doubt it.

Problem is Oracle, he couldn't cut it on when on loan! I am not slating him, just saying he isn't a PL top ten team player!

Ask most of the clubs except QPR and they will tell you townsend was no good for them he had about 10 loan spells before it clicked could be the same for kane

Hang on a second, before we all get too carried away on whether Kane is any good, may come good, may end up being brilliant etc, the main point about this is surely where we are (and where he is) now?
Nobody is saying cut him loose or that he'll never be any good but, we're level on points with 4th and have been in this situation before in January, bodging it up every time and missing out by wafer thin margins.
We have Ade on fire at the moment and Soldado who is a good player but hasn't fully settled into scoring league goals yet. Defoe is going and hasn't even been our number one or two striker for the majority of time so, we're down to just two strikers with a manager that wants to play 4-4-2 when possible plus Kane. In that situation, is Kane good enough? No, sorry he isn't. He might be about to suddenly come good but, a bit of a big gamble to take when you consider all of the above. If we don't bring anybody in then let's all pray it's his time because he's bound to be needed at some point with suspensions, injuries, loss of form (or interest by some) - we've come up just short for 2-3years and we've already had problems with goals for a lot of this season so all the warnings are there.

Good post from above! Problem is Sherwood fancies Kane, Levy doesn't or he wouldn't be thinking of Berba! Sorry but Kane isn't the answer, nor is Obika!
If this is only short term, then get Berba back, low price, could sulk a lot with Ade, but only needs to produce a good 5 months!

Ps! We could always give Lamela a good run in the team!

Lamela upfront in what I believe is his natural position as a striker.

Now that would be interesting.

Oracle. That is the very first thing you have ever said that I agree with.

Crikey, forgot about Lamela, just call me AVB haha.
Actually, come to think of it, Chadli may have played there sometimes too. To be honest though, that has been a problem of ours with several signings, rather than them being a jack-of-all-trades bringing versatility as a huge benefit, it's been more a case of them being master-of-none confusing selection.
