Our defence is bloody horrible vs Valencia

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Ekotto looks bad and so does gallas! Need to get shot of jenas as well!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its the high line, we need to adapt to it. It also needs backing from the Two defensive mids(Jenas+Livermore) which it isn't getting

If AVB's defensive tactic are anything like those that he adopted at Chelsea, then you may take a while to adapt. We certainly did, well we never fully did adapt though we probably had resistance from senior players to adapt to this, cole etc.Though I would like for AVB to succeed, even if this means adjacently success for the spuds, his man management skills are very poor and seeing as this was an area Harry Redknapp excelled in, it will be interesting to see how he copes at Spurs.

Yeah why wasn't hudd played ? He's not seriously thinking about dropping huddlefro ? And keep jenas is he ?
What is everyone's opinions on Livermore ? I don't just mean say one word replies like s*** or not good enough I personally think he needs to find his spot ... Ie if he's a holding mid or something a little further up

Not sure whats going on at the moment with the the club we seem to be in limbo at the moment.Normally im optimistic about our summer dealings and at the start of the summer it looked good with the signings of jv and sigurdson but since then nothing.Part of me thinks we are trying to get rid of the players that Avb has no plans for so that room can be made for the new players so we are stalling on completing deals. My info about targets is only really from papers and the net and you guys on here but there does'nt seem to be concrete offers for anyone how many players have we been linked with already ,the chairman and manager must know the targets by now.My biggest concern is that we always take too long to complete deals and haggle over every penny thus losing targets to our rivals, i mean is there money available or not is it depending on modric being sold (rubbish, how much have we made on palyer sales the past 3 years) ,peronally i believe there is money there but levy wants to do things on the cheap and is getting a bad rep and making things hard ( not getting champs league didnt help but it can be worked around).Looking back at our last 5-6 years of transfers how much has he actually spent the last big splurge was under ramos and we got a lot of that back from selling berbatov and keane .We are constantly told the club runs at a profit so where's the money gone i trust levy to run the club well but its time to stop being prenteders and take a risk and SPEND!. We are 3 top players away from being real contenders for the title.

AVB had not signed his own choice yet. Siggs and Verts where already in place.
Is this another reason why ade hasnt signed?
One thing is for sure, if we don't sign anyone major before deadline day, then levy/enic

Agree0 Disagree0

*enic/levy could end up being the real issue here and AVB has no chance

The money has gone on new training facilities (which alone will attract good players) and a new stadium (plans and buying up property)
I know it's frustrating but we've managed like u said over the last few years by spending wisely. I'm not saying we have none but have faith in levy he knows what he's doing (I hope)

I doubt AVB came without an understanding of what monies would be available for player acquisitions. Now getting the players he wants with the money we have may be an issue in that however much he may have will only stretch so far and we need at least 1 striker, probably 2 and maybe a Modric replacement. Three weeks till the window closes, still time to get the quality in we need, though getting them to play as a team in the first weeks of the season could be a challenge now, which will bring the vultures out for AVB's head if it takes us 8-10 games to get rolling.

The training facility wont attract the very top players the facilites at say Chelsea are also up there

I read quite an interesting article in which is started to break down the declared profits at Spurs.Whilst it relected the increase in revenue it went on to explore the difference in terms of cash profit and the way in which a profit can be decalred.
For instance you sign a player for say £9 million on a 3 year contract. His value is written off over the term of his contract so after 3 years he has no value in the accounts. If you then sale in for £10 million that is then shown as a profit of £10 million.
Another wheeze is to revalue your asstets to show a profit (not cute if you have to pay Corporation tax but if you have losses to carry forward it doesnt matter) For me Spurs need ever CL or to bring in more for player sales than it does for paying fees for the club to make a profit that or keep wages low and I think those days are over.

I didn't say we are the only team with good training facilities. I was just stating that it would help when a player is considering us.

Someone on here though Busquets was a playmaker..... WOW

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Someone who posted on here said arsenal had bought well.........wow!!

I have to be honest, I'd be dead pleased if we'd signed podolski, giroud and cazorla. I know many don't agree but I'm not mad keen on Lennon, and think someone like cazorla would be an improvement, and we are desperately short of front men. Obviously we'd need Vert as well as our defence wasn't too great. I think I'd rather have cazorla than Sig, but that's just because I don't think sig is as good as everyone thinks. I think it's the whole 'now we've signed him I've looked at you tube and he's scored a few great goals so he's immense' thing. I'd like damiao, another striker as well, if modric goes of fancy sahin, I can't see moutinho coming, and someone like Jesus navas. Not him as he's always homesick but that kind of player.

Did you see Lennon tonight ? Probably one of the best on the pitch with walker

Agree1 Disagree0

And look at the career stats on sig vs cazorla...

Sig = around 8 m
cazorla = around 18 m

Cazorla is 27 - Sig is 22
(and before you say Arsenal don't need anymore youth.. he's not.. youth finishes at 21 imo..)

Cazorla - played 345 scored 50 assists 42 (not 100% on assists, difficult to find)

Sig - played 164 scored 57 assists 19

5 years since cazorla got called spainish player of the year.

Sig been player of the year at 2 clubs on the trott, the moved to swansea and carried that on.

no doubt Cazorla is a world class player and his link up play will be crucial for arsenal, and will most likely be an excellent signing.

But Sig could be a complete masterstroke form Levy.

And just to point out to everyone on this place, there are other players than the ones the newspapers report about, DL and his scouts have definitely realised Damiao isn't the only big striker in the world...
