As excellent as eriksen was last night I'm suprised no one's really given kane a mention, worked hard never stopped running linked up well with ade you could see the nerves with the first few shots which is understandable considering it was his debut but he kept going and got his very deserved goal, GOOD GAME hurriKANE!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

First game, hmmmm! Yes he gave his all but is he good enough? TS sort of player who runs around looking busy but would he cut it with a proper manager?

Why all the negativity and general negativeness on the spurs page? Next season will be a year when, in theory, some of the signings from last year i.e lamela & Chiriches (i beleive is brilliant) start to show their true colours under the guidance of a new manager with a set plan for the future and you will see a true football team come to fruition. In my eyes lamela and chadli should be playing as inverted forwards, I say forwards and not wingers as the lack of service for your frontmen has been astounding at times. As you all know and i'm sure baldini & Co are aware of aswell, a top left back is required and walker needs to recapture that blistering form of 2 years back. Jan and chiriches is a mouthwatering CB partnership. Pace, leadership, technical ability, aerial threat and some cracking challenges. A midfield three of sandro dembele and eriksen and soldado up top would ensure a well balanced team. If a set 11 is picked week in week out it will raise the games of the floundering stars such as paulinho (who was the dogs danglies before he signed and hasn't turned bad overnight) This season hasn't been up to scratch and I beleive that a lot of this lies at the feet of one Mr Levy and that's coming from a completely neutral admirer. I support bristol rovers and leeds but have always been an admirer of spurs and thought that the last time this side looked like a proper team was the Harry Redknapp days and it was a massive mistake to sack him. So I leave you with a couple of questions to discuss/mull over

1) Who would be your ideal new manager on a long term basis (be realistic everyone wants klopp)

2) Who would be your ideal new left back? (Ricardo Rodriguez for me)

3) Who do you think will be shown the door this summer? (besides sherwood)

4)Is it just me that thinks adebayors celebration is just plain cringey, hasn't caught on and will probably be on a youtube celebration fails video in 20 years time?

Think positively Lads the futures bright and the futures white.

Showing that level of knowledge, you can be our new manager, please! I think all Spurs fans want that sort of team, but TS is determined to do it his way, has no tactical knowledge, no man management, no plan B, and a love of players who run around like headless chickens!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Davo, shame some other spurs fans don't offer their opinions, Many but not all of you are always quick to jump on the managers and players backs with a typical emotional teenage girl post moaning about sherwood and a blade of grass that was too short and the paint was too white. No wonder this page is viewed as a sham by other users of different teams RANT OVER

This feels like a disappointing season, but so far it hasn’t been nearly as bad as we think.

The problem has been our results against the other top 6 clubs. Last year we picked up 15 points against them and this year it has only been 9.

We have also shipped a lot of goals against them (a six, 2 fives and 2 fours).

Against the other teams we have actually done better (so far), picking up 50 points against 45 in the equivalent fixtures last year.

We have 5 winnable games left and could finish on a club record 74 points. There has only been one 38-game season in which that wouldn’t have secured 4th place. This year could be the second.

This confirms something I said earlier in the season. We haven’t gone backwards so much as the other top clubs have gone forward.

There is some gound to be made up next year, but I too am inclined to be hopeful.

PS: For what it’s worth, I think Arsenal are still slight favourites to finish 4th again, but they will probably have to beat Liverpool’s 76 point 4th place finish in 07/08.

Woolwich nicked early goals against us and then duly parked the bus twice to hang on to 1-0 wins. It's our own fault and we've generally been flat or hugely circus-like at the back this season but, those games could've been two draws. WHL certainly should've been that or a win but two draws would mean we're above them now! So in a season with all their 'improvement' and title-talk up until March, whilst we've been supposedly imploding having wasted £100m (net £0) and changing manager, the gap is still wafer thin.another great chance missed as always with Spurs.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's not just the top teams getting better, but the other teams are starting to fall away. The PL is starting to become a league within a league with the top 6 or 7 clubs contesting the top 4 spots.

Within that 6 or 7 clubs, you can also see those that are financially backed are edging ahead of the others to contest the title with squads that have the depth and quality to also compete in Europe.

Yellow Card

I fear you may be right.

For most of this season there has been a group of 7 or 8 clubs chasing the Champions League and another 10 or 11 battling against relegation, with nothing much in between.

I am not sure if this is a trend or just a one-off.

So let's get this straight.

We are going to replace an English Manager, an explayer, a man who is 110% comitted, full of fight, had the sense to pick Ade when the previous FOREIGN coach would nt play him because he did nt like him, and without his goals where would we be, a man who inherited someone else's dross, a man who is trying to blood youth and we we proposing to replace him with another Dutch cheese who does nt want to commit to the spurs job in case Utd sack moyes, a man with no experience of the premiership whatsover, who has never managed in England, who is his over 60, and whio knows nothing about the Club, the squad or the youth set up?

Still as long as he has an oyster card for riding the tube to WHL its obviously a no brainer!

LEVY OUT!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well that's just a false dichotomy. Just because the last manager didn't work out and was from a different country doesn't mean that the next one won't work out.

You could have said the same thing about Pochettino over Adkins.

Also you can't get 110% comitted.

Wulf

As far as Spurs players and managers are concerned I would settle for any sort of commitment would be good. How many goals have we shipped this season through childish stupid mistakes? So let's not split hairs about per centages. The point is Sherwood has commitment, he is one of us because when he's angry he wants to give someone a clip, that's what is needed.

As for your point about foreign coaches.
Gross
Santini
Ramos
AVB

Everyone a waste of space

Jol had a bit of go about him.

Then we had Old Man wheeler dealer who had not a clue about tactics

And the icing on the cake Hoddle, almost the worst.

All above appointed by DL

And you think that Van G will be any good.

LEVY OUT. NOW!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow, you would be happy to keep someone because he is English, ex spurs, committed, and likes young players!
Lets start, no man management, no tactics, no plan B, and doesn't listen to anyone! As for inheriting dross, a good manager would get those players, proven internationals, playing . Your talking about someone who insists on playing players out of position, playing not to players strengths, and playing players who run around trying to look good . As for playing our young blood, Bentaleb, consistently found out against the top teams, Kane, couldn't even cut it at Norwich, Naughton, so bad it's untrue, Townsend, believes the publicity too much, Rose, as bad as Naughton .
Then we get to others, Dawson, say no more, Paulinho, slows the game so much a blind man is quicker .
Team talk must go a bit like this, whoever runs the furthest distance, gets a bonus but remember to flap your arms to give the chicken effect, Daws, don't worry about your speed, positioning or anything really because Walker will cover for you, Bentaleb, do what you want really but text the family to tell them I will be over for dinner later, Eriksen, I know you are brilliant in the middle but you take the shine off me so play on the left wing will you!
Must be riveting or perhaps they don't follow his instructions and make it up for themselves!

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris,

well let's look at this analytically.

Managers who flopped:
Gross (F)
Ramos (F)
Hoddle (E)
Pleat (E)
Francis (E)

Managers who did alright:
Jol (F)
AVB (F)
Redknapp (E)
Sherwood (E)
Graham (E)

You can't say Santini did badly as he was only in the job for half an hour, and you can't say AVB was bad as he got us our top points finish ever. By that margin you'd also have to put Sherwood in as the 'did alright'.

So - no difference.

LVG being foreign won't hurt. Managers don't need to adapt to the pace like players do. Plenty of foreign managers have come in and done well in their first year. So commitment I agree is important, but wht makes you think that other managers don't have it? If AVB doesn't prance up and down the touchline throwing his gillet on the grass does that mean he has less commitment than Sherwood?

As for Levy you need to get real on that as well. Look at where Spurs finished in the PL before Enic and Levy took over. Never better than 8th, with 2 seasons where relegation was a realistic possibility with us only finishing a few points above the drop. Since ENIC came in and we got going after 2 seasons then we are top 5 regulars. When was the last time we were not CL contenders, let alone bottom half finishers, let alone in a relegation battle?

Maybe you want to get rid of them and have Lord Sugar come back? If not then how is your desire to get rid of Levy any worse than his desire to get rid of Sherwood?

Agree0 Disagree0

Santini had quite a few clean-sheets and came in after we finished 14th so who knows.
Ramos won a trophy with us and went on to manage Real Madrid!
