To all the fans that invade the spurs site with your ever so clever comments and facts about how big and great your own teams are and
how poor and small Spurs are.
What are these points based on?
Your team is only as good as the current season your having, so based on these facts Spurs are currently the 3rd best Team in England. FACT like it or not.
All teams have history some good some bad, we have all won cups and leagues and all had barren spells, this is football, the size of a football club isn't just based on cups and league titles, if this were the case Celtic & Rangers would be massive!
It based on worldwide fanbase, revenue,
turnover as well as titles and trophies, which spurs have plenty of! Just not recently, but then niehter have Arsenal, Man City and Barring
this seasons Carling Cup Liverpool.

Biggest problem at Spurs is the fickle fans, so we have had 2 bad results, against 2 very good teams, and the bottom line is, if we had been offered 3rd place at the start of the season we would have all jumped at it. whatever the remainder of the season brings as long as we finish in the top 4 that was the aim for this season. We are a team on the up, we are improving year on year and we haven't spent any real money for a few years now, so credit Harry for getting the best from the boys.
A couple of new faces in the summer and maybe a new manager (If Arry goes)
and maybe the next level beckons,
but before everyone starts going on about the EPL, for me the next level is to be a consist top 4 team then look at challenging for the league.

On the manager front has anyone thought about Martin Jol making a return (Unfinished business) just a thought, personally I would love to Deschamps or hiddink.

I'd love Jol back, he was a quality manager. But I don't think Levy would see it the same way.

Agree2 Disagree0

Trouble is we need someone who can build and take us further than what redknapp has done, to really compete at the top of the league and qf of cl at least every season. Jol is great, but is he a 'big enough name' to attract this marquee signing we all crave

Spurs fans,

As an Arsenal fan, we get straight on the back of Arsene as soon as things start to go wrong and yet we forget all the things that he has done right over the years. A relatively bad season does not make him a bad manager.

The same should be said by yourselves about Harry. A couple of bad results does not make him a bad manager and the improvement you have displayed since his arrival is fantastic.

You may think as an Arsenal fan that I am completely against Spurs but I actually like to watch them, they play quick attacking football and have some brilliant players (of course I still want Arsenal to finish above). I would, if possible, love to see both Arsenal and Spurs in the Champions League because I think they are both fantastic representatives of the EPL and deserve top honours.

I personally think that you were dreadful against us last week but that was not typical of your side as you are a lot better than that, but every team has off days.

I hope we finish above you but I also wish you guys luck this season as, despite the rivalry between us, we surely all want our nations biggest and best teams competing at the highest level, and our two teams are certainly amongst them.

Great post, can't wait to see Abramovich go apoplectic when Chelsea don't get into the CL

Great text Glen. The most balanced and fair I have read in a long time. If everyone behaved like you we could have some great good natured banter between the two sets of supporters. Well done.

Well your not related to big dickie , thats a fact .
Davo

Agree2 Disagree0

No Davo I am not. I am a huge Arsenal fan but not to the point that I call every other team c**p.

I think it is a great compliment to our nation that we can boast so many great teams and both Spurs and Arsenal are in that group of maybe 6 or 7.

Of course I want us to finish above you but I am also mature enough to look at the big picture, and believe that whichever position a team is in at the seasons end is the position they deserve to be in, as they have had 38 games to get there.

I genuinely hope you do not lost Harry because, as much as some of you guys seem to be against him all of a sudden, he has worked wonders with you and I think you should be grateful for having such a fantastic squad with great potential.

Lets hope we get both teams in the CL and knock Chelsea and Liverpool out. Next stop, lets team up and take on the Mancs, making London the top footballing city once again.

That last bit there let's team up ..... That is what I don't quite get about football .... I am American but when I moved to England the first games my grandad took me too were tottenham games he's a life long fan .... Now to me ... Granted I can see the locality of who wants to be better on a certain area but surely the rivallery between different cities would be more so as even with the likes of spurs and arsenal ... But surely the people in certain cities would rather people from their area / city etc to do well / better than any other team outside said area obviously except that specific team they support ... Does that make sense ?
I mean granted don't not have the rivallery and it's not like it could change anyway
But I would have thought it would go in terms of support
Local area / city / then country
Or am I just really wierd ?
But anyway good posts there Glenn {Ed013's Note - Your not weird mate (I hope!) but history goes along way with rivalry. Also a very fair point Glenn}

Agree0 Disagree0

The rivalry dates back to when their chairman bribed the FA to take away our rightful promotion spot and give it to them after the 1st World war. i think.

Ben,gooners in general, you really want to think before you write on this page, spurs are a one man team and nothing without bale? people in glass houses and all that.......two losses on the bounce and still 4 points clear of you, ill take that. lets see how big your chests are when milan make mugs out of you on your own patch.....

Make mugs of us at home lol. Still you gotta be in it to win and your certainly not. Enjoy Thursday night football and watch the gap it's shrinking like your managers contract length

We need to sign a fast off the mark striker in the mould of Tevez, Suarez etc. Rossi would be super. A big slow striker (Crouch/Ade) is no good in the modern game. I would play defoe (at least he knows where the net is) and Saha. I would stop the Bale wandering all over the place experiment. Put him on the left with Lennon on the right and go for it. Will still finish third. Have played United, City, Pool and Gooners twice. Only Chelsea to play and we will beat them.
The Don.
P.S. I also made the earlier post ie. the Spurs supporter since 1961 but I forgot to sign it.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Listen, there are only a few strikers in the world that have this magical combination of speed, skill, strength, aerial ability and finishing. These are all at elite clubs with absurd wages. Tevez? Poison in the dressing room. Suarez? Too small to be up front on his own. Rossi? Similar, and couldn't hack it in the prem last time. Ade is brilliant, but you can't expect him to be the total cf like Cavani, Higuain, Villa (when he plays in the middle) or even torres in his prime. I understand we need someone like this, but its not just that simple, almost everyone has their limitations.

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree with the main points in your text. Disagree about Rossi. He was very young when with M U. He did quite well actually, scored some great goals, but he was there when United were really good and had the likes of Van Niestelroy etc. I would put it to you that the very top teams do not use a target Man, ie. United, Barcelona, R Madrid, Spain and finally the Gooners. Nowdays the player who plays midfield/striker like role, ie. Rooney/van persie is much more effective as they help to overrun the opposing midfield and also score goals. It could be argued that Barcelona play without any striker!
