Definitely not claiming to be ITK and I know with Levy nothing is sure especially in the transfer market but if you look at our situation this summer one way or the other Levy has to spend big.
Scenario 1 (my preferred option) Gareth decides to stay for at least another season. For this to happen Bale would have to have had assurances (and prob evidence) that Spurs are going to compete seriously for CL next season by making 2-3 quality signings.
Scenario 2. Bale leaves for a monster fee. Levy knows the only way he can avoid a lynch mob in N17 and possibly AVB walking is to use the bulk if not all of the fee on a serious replacement for GB and further reinforcements. I know both of these maybe look a little simplistic but realistically how else could things pan out? What do you reckon Ed? Spur67

Bale (is claimed by Levy) to hand in transfer request when the bid that can't be refused comes in late in the window. Bale and Madrid blamed in PR spin. Loads of links with top players but none realistic and prices even more inflated than usual. Maybe sign a couple of £10-15m players with an ok profile but more potential than finished articles. Window closes in the midst of red-herrings about big signings. The rest of the money is banked and Levy hopes we're in touch by December to avoid buying in January yet again.
Just a thought.

Blimey, I thought I disliked and distrusted Levy. Sadly, I wouldn't bet against Simmo's prediction. Spur67

We've all seen it so many times before that i'm sure none of us will be surprised if Simmo's prediction comes true. In fact, I'm off to the bookies.

Hey Spur67, I don't actually dislike or not trust him but I don't think it's an impossible chain of events as it's been happening for 4-5 windows now in one way or another. Why people suddenly think he'll splurge more is the odd thing, he could and it could pay-off but, it could be strongly claimed that two January windows in a row have cost us Champions League football both times and it doesn't seem to change anything.

We get half of Arsenals income due to a small stadium, blame Joe Lewis for being tight. Contracts are notoriusly complicated nowadays.

Apparently mourinho has told abramovic to sell torres and MATA to raise transfer funds (according to marca), personally I don't believe it and its highly unlikely but I would love to see mata in the white of

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mata is currently their best player. Hazard may really come on next year but cannot see Mata being sold.
Torres however, no way will he be their main striker by August.

There is no way they will sell mata and even if they did we would never be able to get him however much I would like to believe it

Football has officially gone mad.
Man sh*tty agree £34million deal for fernandinho.
If he is worth that, then how much is sandro or Ramirez worth?
He is 28 and has 5 caps for brazil and the first of those in 2006.
Clubs like them and Monaco are driving prices through the roof.
The rest of us stand no chance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Was thinking exactly the same they are paying transfer fees which you would only expect to pay for the top 5 - 10 players in the world for pretty average players. Does not give us a chance in the transfer market

Don't forget about chelski

So now the rumour mill is well and truly open and working hard, its looks like we are going from having no striking options to just about the most strikers in the PL to choose from, if you believe everything you read, we could well be starting the season with, Benteke, Damaio, Martinez, Villa, Negrado, Soldaldo, Hulk, Ade and Benitez. In all honesty I would settle for any 2 of these except for Ade staying and Benitez (Who was average for Birmingham). IMO I think we will be made to feel lucky if we sign any of these. Media seems to be linking us to every available striker and whilst this is the most important I still believe we need a LB, Wing cover and maybe just as important as a strike force a creative midfielder to unlock tight defences in close games.

what does everyone think of these Defoe + cash for Benteke rumour?

I personally hope its not true, i'd much prefer keep Defoe and lose Adebayor!

Seems like things are gaining a bit of depth with the whole Damiao saga with him making a statement and now his agent also making a statement

To be honest I would be more than happy with this deal however like you I would also like to loose Adebayor. Defoe too many times has failed to deliver and that's not just last season. Maybe being a little hard but to be up there with a shot at the top three we need more from all players.
Spursmad Dave.

Jury still out on Benteke. Looked good this season admittedly but £20m-25m?! No way.
