Avb today said that Defoe has been 'lethal this season'! Really. I would say he has been crap, as usual. Defoe moans like a lil girl when he doesn't start but when he does he is pure rubbish. For a 29 year old so called top striker its amazing that he can't shoot properly, he just blasts it instead of placing it when needed. don't worry though lads we have Harry Kane back now!

To all those fans saying we can not afford to buy 15m-20m players, due to the size of our stadium etc,
What a load of rubbish, look back over the last few years at what we have spent on individual players all whilst we have been at WHL, Bent £18.5m, Mordric £16.5m, Bentley £16m +, Even Rebrov cost a little over £11m, so we can afford it difference now is DL won't pay it and now is the time he needs to, if we are to ever progress to the next level of being a consistant top 4 team and CL regular. Speculate to accumalate. CL is worth on average to even the worst teams in it around £35m, add to that extra merchandise sales, ticket sales, programme sales, food and beverage sales and extra prize money dependant on how far you get. (I think spurs made around £47m extra on last times jaunt in CL).

Spending that £15-£20m doesn't look like a huge investment. Not only that if you sign a world class player for this sort of money, how much would Spurs and DL make back on image rights, shirt and names sales, memberships (which would no doubt'dly increase), I would imagine that quite a percentage of this fee would be recouped almost immediately.

And even if you take all if this away another reason for investing would be to ensure you keep your best players at the club, why would players like Bale, Walker, Lennon (on this season form), Vertonghen, Dembele, Holtby, Sandro and Llrois want to stay with us for the long term, to play with the likes of Saha's and Nelson's. They won't and they will be off as soon as a club with ambition shows any interest.

DL may well have done some unreversable damage in this window by not signing a much needed striker, not only is 4th in real jeopady, but I not sure if Bale will hang around to long this summer to find out who we MIGHT buy. But at least Levy will line his and the boards pockets with a cool £50m + because I honestly cannot see it all being reinvested in the team if any and once Bale leaves others will follow.

I know this all seems very negative, but I feel that given I spend thousands of pounds each year watching my much loved Spurs that I am entitled to a moan and a whine every now and then, on a plus note COYS that's smash WBA and put this transfer window well and truly behind us!!

Quick question. How did Rebrov, Bent, Bentley get on at the lane? Damio, negrdo etc who is to say these would be a hit? why didn't anyone else pick these players up? AVB clearly fancied Damio but at the end of the day 20m in anyones eyes is a massive risk for a player not tried and tested in a big league plus doesn't even play for his full national side! Big money doesn't mean success and there is clearly a plan in place which Includes funding a new stadium!

We have the quality to finish top 4!

Don't get me wrong I agree with you that we need a striker but if you back AVB then you have to trust his judgment, let's wait until the end of the season before we judge.

We are 4th and got there with the players we have, holtby looks a real player and will add that central creativity plus ade is back shortly. It's not all doom and gloom and I am sure WHEN we secure CL football at the end of the season the summer will be different.

Keep the faith

B's a yod,

I never said that any of these players were a success and I never said players such as Negrado or Damiao would be either, I was making the point that we have paid big money in the past whilst at WHL so we can still afford to do it now, people seem to be linking the size of a stadium to the size of a transfer fee!. Whilst it is obvious that the bigger the stadium, the bigger the income but we have managed fine whilst at WHL.

I have also consistantly backed AVB and I agree Holtby looks the business and I do hope you are right about the summer and I think you will be if we make the CL.

Allthough its dissapointing we didn't bring a striker in I think the 13million pound bid we made for damiao was a very good offer. From what I've seen of him his certainly not worth 20million and I would rather us not bring in a striker than pay a long way over the odds for a striker whos unproven in a big league. his scored 18 goals in 37 games this season which may on the surface look good but I think a lot of average premier league striker could score that many goals in brazil.

All my fellow Spurs fans, lets not lose sight that we are still 4th and still have a team which most fans in the prem would lose their left nad for! The squad we have CAN still secure the top 4, yes we will need a little luck along the way but I personally think we can do it.

I was as disappointed as the next man that we didn't secure our new number 9 however is Jan really the time to do it? If reports are true we bid over 17m for LD which for me is a massive risk, personally I think he aren't worth more and clearly AVB & DL felt that too. There are a lot of posts saying why didn't we go for Negredo, etc well that's down to one man. AVB! Don't tell me if AVB had put forward cheaper options, plan B's etc that DL wouldn't have gone out and got them. Deadline day (levy loves), cheaper option (levy loves), would still keep fans happy (levy eutopia) so the fact we didn't get anyone in is down to AVB not fancying anyone else!

So you have to ask the question why? AVB clearly wants players which WILL take us to the next level and is prepared to wait to get his men. He clearly feels with the squad he has he can secure the top 4 spot and in the summer with CL football under his belt feels we will be in a position to attract the right kind of player at the right price. Its a gamble but for AVB its an educated one surely.

There have been links to mediocre strikers at the magic 8 to 10 million squid mark but are these really the signings we want? The signings which will take us to the next level? I personally think its just more deadwood we would eventually need to clear out! A loan signing maybe? Who? I agree Dempsey hasn't been great but what loans out there would be seriously better?

Lets also not forget we have a new stadium to build and securing the finances to build this means the books need to be balanced. Its OBVIOUS that Levy is working towards this and is why he won't folk out 20m+ on a player in Jan.

Our squad is leaner but still has quality, we will post positive results in the next financial year so competative funding will be in place in the summer, we have a new stadium on the horizon which will enable us to compete at the top level and we are 4th (without this brazillian fantasy footballer which in reality doesn't want to play for us) so all is not as bad as it seems.

Get behind AVB and the team for the rest of the season because my view is we will finish in that top 4 and the summer will be a different story.

I find it funny people on here bad mouthing our scouts. Suarez was identified to redknapp levy arranged a deal we had first refusal. Rednapp said Suarez won't score goal in prem. Still people think Harry can spot a player don't make me laugh clueless. Michu was offered to spurs before anyone rednapp said Jason Roberts scores goals for Blackburn shall I buy him. End of day manager fancies them or not. I wish we still had pav more affective off bench than sigg

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Sorry but at the end of the day Levy decides who we buy!
The manager might like the players but tight arse decides who comes! As for our scouts, anyone with a brain could find a suarez!

Ridiculous I know but now we're in this shoe-string state of strikers we may as well get Saha in on a 4month deal again! If we get through against Lyon it'll be another 2 legs to add to critical league fixtures. Starting to look like the loss to Leeds was strategic.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I for one didn't think saha done enough when at spurs, but given the amonut of games left I would take him on a 4 month deal he has to be more effective than Kane form the bench.
