80million plus, or 60million plus players is an incredible deal for one player, and I will understand if the club decides to sell Bale. But he's a game winner, like Ronaldo, messi, RVP, to name a few and there is only a few! We have a great squad without Bale, one capable of challenging for the top 4 IMO. But with him we would challenge for the title!

If you could do a straight swap with any other player in the world who would you choose? I can only think of 3 players Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar. maybe RVP? In similar way they all have the ability to win games like Bale.

I just hope Levy is thinking the same and can convince Bale to stay for one more season and help us win something, maybe even the league!

Ibrahimovic, Robben, Cavani, Suarez, Falcao, there's many a game winner out there but I would rather have a squad who work for each other and chip in with goals from all areas than have to rely on 1 player to win us a game.

Agree0 Disagree0

How about a whole team that chips in along with a player who can win games on his own? Surely that's how the big teams work? I. e Barca-Messi, Madrid-Ronaldo, United-RVP. That's how you win titles. None of the mentioned teams rely on 1 player but that 1 player grabs them extra points in games you struggle to win. That's why keeping Bale is vital if we want to challenge for the league!

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly with Bale staying and our recent acquisitions we are title challengers, but I would settle for champions league.

A team working together making goals while bale gets us out of tight jams will ensure we get 3 points from every game. We just need to get our backline in order and stop letting in so many goals and we look like real contenders.

Agree0 Disagree0

Either 60 or 80 at this point would show a serious lack of ambition. Perez has basically staked his presidency on getting Bale and he is getting very desperate. He's getting all the RM old boys as well as spreading rubbish through Marca and other papers sympathetic to RM (or wanting attention) trying to make it seem like there is a story here when there is not. Yes this is tapping up but we all know these clubs get away with things because they have the real power not UEFA.

So they are desperate and we don't need to sell. We could get 80 next year for him and his contract is long enough that we cannot be pressured. Also if he does stay and we get into CL then he may decide to stay longer - sure that me be a low chance but it is something the other clubs have to account for.

If you don't want to sell and someone really wants to buy then you squeeze them for every penny. Because selling is going to cost us a lot more than people seem to think (reputation, ability to attract top players, broken promises).

how can tottenham have a top 4 capable side without bale, when you missed out last season with bale scoring over 30 percent of your goals? you have the worst strike force in the top ten, if u lose bale you need to invest quickly, soldado ain't the answer. unless the money is reinvested youll struggle.

if bale is going let's get it done and move forward, no one player is bigger than any club, use the money and get 2 or 3 players in now so we can be settled before the season starts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If no player is bigger than the club then he has to stay and see out the contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

And have an unhappy player not giving his all?

BALE BALE BALE BORING>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Di maria and Ozel = BALE

if they really want him that is the only deal we should ask for.

if we sell him forget about his replacement. prices will be sky high for players after that.
QUESTION ALL spurs supporters

no bale 80mil or so in bank V a Shot at the title

Basically I dnt care about the bank balance at whl
i want to see us win the title 1st in my life time as never witnessed
Arsenal, chelsea, utd liverpool city have all done it

mr g
still happy tho

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Exactly, why is anybody even considering what would be a good deal? Bale staying with us for 1 more season is the only option.

If he goes we loose our best player and hope that the squad as a whole will fill the gap. Yes they will, no doubt about it. But what that then means is we come 5th at best again. But if we keep him the squad takes the pressure off him but he still pops up with a wonder goal to get us 3 points we wasn't going to get. That in turn pushes us up to a top 3 finish.

Keep Bale buy Saldado transfer window done. (Sell players who will not feature)

Agree0 Disagree0

There may not be a choice in the end.

Marc

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course there's a choice. Keep him, tell him he will play 1 more season with us (if he plays well there's no reason Madrid won't want him next season) or sell him for as much as we can get for him.
Unfortunately the choice lays in the hands of Levy, so it's a case of trying to consol ourselves before Levy cashes in. Hence all the fans debating what would be an acceptable fee.

There has been no formal bid for Bale but both clubs have been in infrequent contact for about 12 months. Real Madrid have briefed Spanish media that they are determined to sign Bale, as a counter to Barcelona signing Neymar.
Real are prepared to offer up to 95 million Euros - about 60 million over 3 years and with the offer of 2 players in exchange up to the value of 35 million.
We all know Levy is a master negotiator but it doesn't make sense to try to force an unhappy player to stay. It worked with Modric but only for one more season.

I really hope we keep bale what ever real offer as I believe we have to in order to keep squad happy after promise paulino and avb he will stay and if dose go top players wil be very hard to attract as don't have champions league or bale and we can still get champions league and push for top 3 with bale if right signing are made as well as this I love watching bale play so good to watch
coys

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't agree I think both Paulinho and AVB are smart enough to know that if 90mil is bid then circumstances change. How do you know if AVB was asked bale or 90mil he would choose bale?
He would choose what he would want with the 90 and see if it can be done if so he may be very happy who knows.

Marc

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree Marc but he won't get all the money will he, and prices to us will double because of it!

Even in a side containing Paulinho, Soldado and AN Other good signing, Bale is still likely to be the difference between 5th/6th or 3rd/4th. 'Replacing' him with a signing or two will cost say £40m BUT, it will be inflated when clubs know we have that cash. It means it could cost an extra £10m to get who we want. Add that to Bale being able to single handedly be the difference anyway and CL being worth around £25m+ in cash plus, the further financial benefits of heightened club profile - you have to really weigh up how much benefit the cash could be now vs the potential. A bird in the hand yes but, what about being ambitious? We already have Bale, we could never sign another ready-made Bale or any other player in the world's top 5-10 (bearing in mind some people claim top 3!) so that also makes him even more hugely valuable to us.

I think the papers and media are disgusting the way they claim Bale is angry and upset and refusing to talk to Levy. Its a complete load of rubbish. Its all down to Levy taking a very large offer of money or not

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You're right but the worst thing is that if he was forced out by all this speculation then the media would start saying we've lost another great player but what they don't realise is that they force out all the good players, suarez is another example

Looks like all Spurs fans including myself are going to have to accept Gareth Bale is going to go to Real Madrid sooner than we thought. I don't think this is to do with Gareth Bale in anyway, but Daniel Levy accepting an offer too good to turn down. Real Madrid clearly aren't going to stop until they land him and perhaps it wouldn't be a bad thing if we got 1 or 2 Real Madrid players as part of the deal.
Nobody can be too annoyed with Levy as long as a chunk of it gets invested back in squad. If bale goes we do need another striker which we would be able to afford or 2 as Soldado hasn't signed yet. I would love Bale to stay, but he was always going to go next season most likely.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Absolute rubbish. Who have you heard that from. Very very few people in this world know what is going on. You can rest assured you or whoever told you this nonsense are not any of them

Don't shoot the messenger guys, but I have heard as some of you have I would assume tat 1 of Bales Reps have official said he wants to leave.

Levy has alledgedly agreed to sell, but in good old fashioned Levy manner only on his terms and Bales rep has been told £107m will seal the deal. £70m cash + Di Maria (who is valued around £22m) and Conterao (who is valued around £15m).

Only problems I see with this are firstly Part exchange players very rarely work out and in general are sold for less than their value when the original deal is made and secondly if Bale does go, with him being one of our main pulls when trying to sign players what happens then? does Soldado still want to sign, does Paulinho want to stay? what other players will want to leave? Does AVB want to stay if Levy sells his star player?

Don't get me wrong the figures being touted around are mind boggleing and Levy would be silly not to accept them (especially given the THFC is firstly a business for Levy) and secondly next season we would not be able to command these sorts of figures. But surely the bigger picture is more important. By keeping Bale (If he is happy to do so) for 1 more year at least this keeps all recently signed players happy and allows us to carry on building, keeps AVB happy and then next close season after CL qualification (Hopefully) let Bale leave if he still wants to as we would have the added incentive of CL football for any potential targets. IMO the best solution would be for Levy to offer Bale a new contract with a Minimum release clause in it for around £55m to any club outside the EPL fto come in effect from 1st July 2014 regardless of CL qualification. This way we keep bale for 1 more year at least still get a decent fee for him regardless and hopefully have a very talented and settled squad for this year.

Easy this chairman role of a football club!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nobody knows anything yet! I assume everyone is sick of talking about it? avb has to probably deal with that question 'is he going, is he staying' every 5 yards? Let's see what happens

Agree0 Disagree0

Contreauo and di Maria may be unwilling to come to us without champs league! I think it's bull tbh just Real trying to unsettle bale and get him to force a move.

With soldado coming in our team looks like this currently as of 28/07/2013

GK - Lloris Gomes Friedal

FB - Walker, Rose, BAE, Naughton

CB - Vertonghen Kaboul Dawson Caulker

Mid - Huddlestone, Lennon, parker, dembele, Holtby, Livermore, Sandro, Carrol, paulinho

Forward - Dempsey, ade, bale, defoe, Siggurdson, Townsend, Chadli, soldado

depending on who leaves we already know we could use:
lb cover and cb cover, possibly in one player. or could stewart make the step up? I didn't want his preseason games
one more forward to replace ade. i'm afraid dzeko fee+wages is only possible without bale, but he would be perfect. actually this one player could be right up levy's alley. we can play hardball til deadline day now that soldado is all but confirmed and man city will either have another roque on their hands or sell to us at a reduced fee+ lower wages

as it stands right now we have a solid european team. With any more additions we are only going to get better.
Considering we do not have to sell bale to make anymore acquisitions due to
-regular transfer kitty
-season tickets
-tv deal
-extra sponsor income with bale in tottenham gear
-modric money left over, hell last season we made a profit in the market. We should still have 20m or so from this as that seems like our usual kitty
-group stage games in europa
we can afford 1-2 more names at good prices

This season is looking bright and its not even august.

Few problems with that squad, namely Rose, Parker, Hudd, Livermore, BAE! Please let's hope they are gone by the end of the transfer window, and promote some youngsters!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey davo
i agree, if we can upgrade the guys you mentioned we would be much better off. let's hope their are some interested buyers for us to reinvest those funds

I think this bale thing is getting blown out of proportion. It seems as though every news paper is jumping in the back of a story Marca did which had supposed quotes from Bale himself (even though he was in hong long at the time. ) But if you look back too a year ago Marca had the exact same comments from Modric. So there pretty obviously false. Even if we ignore the fact that this is illegal, the last official interview from Bale was for the kids MOTD magazine where he said about how focused we are on rotting in to the champions league, it was like a week opt two ago, look it up non-beleivers. Doesn't sound like he's pushing for a move does it?

End of the day a deal of £100mill =£52+ di Maria + concetraou is just ridiculous! If ffp kicks in next season the chances are a deal like that will never happen again. I think if he wants to go then sell him but with a first refusal clause. My worry is that AVB would quit if bale goes but is the deal to good to be true? Are they just trying to unsettle bale? Will he hand in a request and real turn round an say no it was £52mill or di Maria, concetraou? And don't they still owe money for modders?

can't believe the hysteria of spurs fans on what a paper like Marca published. bale has never asked to leave the club and looks happy there. spurs don't want to sell and levy said that he won't sell their best players this year. they are in contract talks with bale, all be it over a long period, and maybe its related to us showing our intenstions in the transfer market first to show him our ambition. hence nearly 50million spent when soldaldo signs. anyway he hasn't walked away from the table so that's good. so stop buying papers that print s****, just so their can line their fat big pockets.
