To all those Eriksen haters out there, just have faith and if we do manage to nab him, let me assure you that we will be getting a top young talent for a fraction of what he should really cost, given his contract situation.

If you want evidence of his ability, just watch the Man City and Dortmund games from last season, where he was the key man for Ajax on both occasions.

My only concern is that AC Milan, who have now negotiated the Champions League playoff with PSV, have been sniffing around him, and now they have assured their own progression in that particular competition, I feel that we need to act quickly and stump up what Ajax want, which seems to be in the order of £11m. That is a snip for what you will get in return.

Just my thoughts on it. BigBird72 COYS

With all the incoming AM's and Townsend's excellent form, is it a possibility that Aaron Lennon may move on. If both Lamela & Eriksen come in then I think it might be likely. {Ed008's Note - The squad will be rotated throughout the season, Eriksen isn't a winger more of a No10

With the players we've got and ones we're signing, would bale actually be a regular starter if he stayed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

RM are about to pay a record fee for him because he is that good so I'd say yes, of course he would.

Never mind though because this time next year we could all be saying Bale who?

I think we can all agree Tottenham Hotspur have laid down the gauntlet to all in the premiership.
I can't recall another team making such a statement of intent in the last 10 years.
It must be said that Daniel Levy must be congratulated for these bold and exciting moves.
He has taken a lot of stick from us fickle Spurs fans, me included, over the years but I must say he has excelled himself this time.
I hope us fans show our appreciation at the Lane Thursday and give him a standing ovation!
The world is our oyster! C.O.Y.S

To Jaylillywhite - your comments are spot on sir! With all the grief we have all directed his way over the past few seasons, I think a standing ovation would be a fitting nod to the chairman. Hopefully, he'll be at the Lane - a special guest and former employee from Ajax at his side - now that would be impressive!

Ok so assuming we get erikson and lamela and lose bale, what on Earth will our team be. Defence will be Lloris, Rose, Walker, Vert + Kaboul/Dawson, but from then on, I haven't got a clue! Maybe

Sandro Paulinho
Chadli Erikson Lamela
Soldado

But then what about Capoue and Dembele! And I'm sure siggy and lennon won't want to be on the bench.

One things for sure - we're going to have a lot of depth this season!

Not really sure what all the hype is about Eriksen TBH looked average in every live game i've watched him play, especially for Denmark. Even his youtube clips don't make him looking like much special really.

Also do people think Lamela will go straight on the wing or maybe be deployed centrally if we don't get Eriksen?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally understand why you'd think he's overrated. Thing about him is he's the type of player who will pull all the strings like Modric and Carrick. You only see what they offer if you watch him week in week out.

No panic as he will offer a lot to our side and is still young so has room for improvement.

What a great time to be a spurs fan. Can't stop smiling.

i google translated the announcement on the official as roms website and it says:

The A. S. Rome S.p.A. announces that it has signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur for the FAC
outright sale of the rights to the player Erik Lamela in the face of
recognition of an amount of 30 million euro. The agreement also provides for the recognition of
a variable amount, up to a maximum of 5 million euro for bonuses tied to the achievement of
part of the Players and the English Club of certain athletic goals.'

google translate is not perfect of course, but from this we can clearly tell

. lamela has sigined a contract with spurs
. its for 30 mill euros, plus 5 mill ad ons
. the add ons will be down to how well he plays for spurs.

Great for tottenham. the kid is a future star. COYS.

Seems that adding to the great Lamela news overmars has come out and said that levy and baldini are in amsterdam today and are in deep talks, no agreement has yet been made, but erikson is allowed to speak with spurs.

This would be great. I really wanted Willian because I think he is class but when I thought we were signing him I looked at Erikson and thought perhaps we were missing out on someone better, only 22 and scores goals too, with him and lamela Soldado should be on fire with lots of chances. I creativity could well jump up a few notches this week.

I will miss bale playing for the club is and always will be a special player.

I don't care about him acting up now. If this is true or may just be paper talk

He was a great servant and is the Only reason we will move up to the next level

His funds has allowed us to become a great squad not just a great first team.

Lamela, chiriches and maybe Erickson coming in and we have a squad that can win big games even with a few injuries.

Last season when we lost Kaboul and Sandro we looked vulnerable but now all down the spine of the team we have quality and then more quality waiting to come in

The future is very bright :)

Best of luck Gareth

Yes I agree! I too wish him well. With RM playing games and Levy doing his thing to try and get best price for the club, it's become a bit of a circus act!

Hopefully all us Spurs fans will remember what Bale brought to our beloved team. With great memories.

i really regret saying this but I feel bale has insulted our club its staff and its supporters, never thought he would ever act like a spoilt brat but unless avb came out and said he was asked to stay away from the club then I can only believe it was his decision and his so called advisers what a shame it is ending this way, he could have gone with a raptuos farewell ringing in his ears, but his actions now disgust me, it was only a few weeks ago when he was praising avb and the team mates bieng a major part in him recieving all the plaudits he got, madrid must do some real devious tactics to disrupt players (modric ) included, but no player is bigger than our club coys forever

Well, the transfer targets keep on coming, and Bale keeps on staying. When will it all end? (Well, Monday actually. )

Anyway, we're supposedly in for Eriksen and showing interest in Ever Banega and Hernanes, not to mention Atsu, who now looks to be yet another benchwarmer at Chelski. Good riddance.

But my reason for this post is not to laud Levy & Co about possible newcomers, but rather to analyse the Bale deal in a little more detail, and primarily to look at the implications of it.

My main concern is that a transfer should be something of a two way street. Typically, one team pays good money for a good player and both teams benefit. In our case, we get a king's ransom in return for our star player. We benefit, and so do Real.

However, we keep hearing about how the Bale transfer promises to trigger the whole market, and this is perhaps why Levy is frustrating everyone with his delays and refusal to rubber stamp the deal which everybody knows has probably been carved in stone for weeks now.

IMO, I think Levy is holding back simply to frustrate the plans of other teams. Take Arsenal for instance. If we sell Bale, then Real are likely to recoup monies from the sales of the likes of di Maria, Ozil, Coentrao and/or Benzema. Personally, I don't want to see us handing any of those players to Arsene at a cut price rate. United too, are sniffing around Ozil like flies around $*^%.

It is my hope that Levy is simply trying to get everything done and then hold off until the very last moment to prevent the other teams from benefitting by snapping up Real Madrid castoffs on the cheap. In an ideal world, perhaps he'll look to sign the deal off about 15 mins before the window closes, but I honestly can't see such a daring game of brinkmanship, and if this did happen, then Madrid would probably either cave in to his demands for more cash, or pull out completely. I'm not sure which is worse at this stage. What do you think?

Just a conspiracy notion from my twisted mind! Thanks for reading.

With less then a week to go I'm getting nervous regarding the bale deal.
I'm worried the monies being touted are to great for us to turn down and we will not have enough time to bring in the correct replacement, who ever it may be.
LOOK I think bale is a amazing player, almost impossible to replace but all the rumours and photos are getting me frustrated.
I feel that shy goal machine of last season has become a spoilt brat at the moment, and if levy does not sell him to Madrid he will not have the same impact as last season as his head is set.
1. Keeping quite
2. Staying away from the squad
3. Not talking to Avb
4. Staying away from the matches
5. Going for a short break when the club has an important match
6. Every photo I see of him he is in a different super car
And has that play boy ronaldo status.
7. Not reporting to training

Look these are just my frustration thoughts which change daily. Due to press and rumours

Is he getting paid at the moment by his current employment
THFC. I think so . Then needs to show some respect for the club and fans and knuckle down and train until IF we sell him

All will be forgiven if he stays. but not sure if he has the same impact for our club any more
Mr g

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He needs to go. If he stays we go through this circus every window.
My gut feeling us that levy sells on Monday, giving the goons no time to buy the Madrid players they want.
I'm hoping lamela, erikson and chariches come in in the mean time.
I also think a Suprise signing will happen before the deadline. Not sure who though. If these deals happen, we have a very very strong squad, strongest for years.
Good times ahead I'm hoping.

Agree0 Disagree0

But what evidence do you have for any of this? If it is tv and the rags then are these really your best sources of information? If you see a picture of Bale walking into a building with a commentator speaking over the top saying that he is furious and frustrated (when the video has no evidence of this), then how can you be sure that the commentator has factual information and is not just trying to create drama?

What we do know is that Bale's head has been turned due to the massive tapping up job that RM have done. Part of tapping up is to make a player feel uncomfortable around his team, to make it easier to sever those ties. Sure it seems like he wants to go (but no football club is so special that a player might never want to leave it), but that doesn't mean that he is acting like a spoilt brat because neither you nor I know what is really going on behind the scenes.

Maybe the deal is done and he has been told to keep away from the squad until we get a replacement. Maybe a deal is not done and he was told to stay away as he is not in the right frame of mind due to the tapping up. Or maybe he is trying to force his way out by doing what Modric did last year.

The point is none of us know.
