I'm an Arsenal fan but I come here in peace. I was just interested in getting some of you opinions. Would you let Modric go and take £25 mil plus Nuri Sahin or make Luka Modric stay next season?

Yes, I would Nodric isn't gettin younger and is pretty niche a finished product, Modders is awesome and his passing I second only to Xavi. However IMO, Sahin can be better he is only 22 and has years left, he proved his worth in the Bundesliga and they say it's a good start for wanting to play in the prem

Second only to xavi? Lol. Check his stats. Ill name a few players better than him. Xavi, iniesta, cesc, ozil, alonso, david silva. Yes all their stats were better than his. Yes hes a great player but hes done nothing this year to gloat about.

Arsenal fan in peace here, too, just think it's amazing how, even after what we just saw, Pirlo doesn't get mentioned as one of the best passers.

My transfer targets. Lloris, Baines, Moutinho, Huntlaar. Along with Vertonghen coming in. Modric to Real Madrid for £35m should fund some of the deals.

We've already brought in 20m with the sales of Pav, Charlie and Niko, if Mod leaves we should have a tidy sum to play with!

That transfer surplus no longer exists it funde other expenses.
Even with monies that came in this year from any transfer activity Spurs will have made another loss and without CL monies another loss in year 2013 is very likely.

How does it no longer exsist? Seeing as the Niko and Charlie deals have yet to be completed due to the transfer window being closed, and as for making losses due to a lack of CL, we've only qualified for it once, our finances cant possibly be based around the CL.

Quite simply there is no seperate transfer fund more a simple balance sheet.
The club has gone from an overall surplus a couple of years ago to in effect to now having a £60 +million overdraft.
This year even with Pavs transfer fee we were told that the club, having invested in training facilities there would be another loss although we wait to see just how much.
No club would budget on CL monies but with significant probably unbudgeted and significant sums going out to pay of HR and staff that will be eaten eve further into the clubs balances.
So quite simply money raised by way of transfers etc will be used to reduce borrowings . If there was a surplus dont you think that HR would have been able to bring in better players in Jan?
I guess the majority are window shopping but at some point people need to wake up and smell the coffee

You make sone good points, still think we'll have planty to spend for the right player. Just to add i think they knew HR would be gone one way or another, therefore decided to save money for the summer and new manager.

Lloris wont leave Lyon for Spurs.. he is French 1st GK, he will go to team that can offer CL..n Modric for Higuain?(not in this post but read it somewhere in this banter page) do you really think he will choose Spurs when so many big club want him?
