Harry Redknapp may have a reputation as being a wheeler dealer, but Daniel Levy is pulling the strings where it matters. When Harry arrived he was in control of maintaining our survival, and it was Harry who orchestrated the following buys:

Defoe - £15m - Already proven to be hot an cold at the top level yet we paid top dollar for a striker that we now want to sell

Palacios - £12m - Was unproven and after an initial effort he has proven to be inconsistent, prone to howlers and has lost his place.

Keane - £12m - Already past his prime when he was sod to Liverpool, yet we paid a fortune to buy him back and let him rot on our bench.

Chimbonda - £2.5m - Total waste of time resigning Pascal who was soon shipped out again.

Bassong - £8m - Paid a fortune at the time by centre back standards and he has failed to make any impact even when we have had sustained injury problems with King Woodgate and Dawson.

Crouch - £10m - Was woeful at Spurs first time round and has hindered the team and forced Spurs to play the long ball game when they have a brilliant midfield.

Kaboul - £5.2m - A neutral purchase but when injuries presented his opportunity he failed to shine and has shown he is not a top class player.

Krancjar - £2.5m - To be fair a steal albeit hardly figured for Spurs but easy to recoup those fees.

Sandro - £8.8m - A massive gamble for a relatively unproven youngster but just starting to look like value.

Gallas - Free - He was appraoched by Levy and offered to Harry so hardly his purchase albeit amazing player.

Van Der Vaart - £8m, Once again nothing to do with Redknapp and completely down to Levy and his contacts at the highest level. Brilliant player but little to do with Redknapp.

Naughton, Krancjar, Walker, O'Hara, Khumalo, Rose, Bostock, Livermore, Dos Santos, Taarabt, Prince Boateng are examples of players who have either been sold prematurely or given little opportunity. Walker looks amazing at Villa, O'Hara the engine at Wolves, Krancjar bench warmer, Taarabt on fire albeit in the Championship and Boateng central to AC Milan.

Overall the purchases have been poor and those sold prematurely even worse. If you take away Gallas and Van Der Vaart who were presented to Redknapp, he has made a total balls of our transfers. Remeber Bale, Modric and Lennon were nothing to do with Redknapp, he has merely beenthe benefactor of a massively over talented squad.

Do not assume I am not a Redknapp fan when it comes to management, but I would suggest he lets Levy manage our transfer dealings.

So Levy on the slim chance that one of your people read this site, please make all Spurs fans happy by doing the following:

Sell: - Pavlyuchenko, Keane, Crouch, Defoe, Jenas, Bentley, Palacios, Kaboul, Krancjar, Bassong and O'Hara.

Buy: - Aguero & Forlan, Llorente and Shawcross, Lassana Diarra, Eden Hazard & Glen Johnson & Gary Cahill.

And lastly - Allow the talents of Walker, Naughton, Livermore, Dos Santos and Khumalo to prove themselves even if it is the Carling Cup.

Just to reign in the delusion from Spurs fans. .Micah Richards for £8.8-£12mil? You do realise that Liverpool had an offer of £20mil rejected in January with Man City wanting atleast £25-£30mil? The ridiculous rumours about him has made my day.

Aguero will cost £40mil and with Chelsea getting Torres to tempt Aguero to join, I doubt Spurs will get Aguero.

Mascherano? Sure you can have him if you're willing to shell out £25mil for him. Let's just ignore the fact that he doesn't like England and gets homesick shall we?

Kaka? I hope you do get him, waste millions in wages for a player that's injured half the time and is lacklustre half the time that he isn't injured.

Finally for the final nail in the coffins of Spurs hopes. Considering the fact that you're unlikely to get that 4th spot for a Champions League spot, what REALLY are the chances of you signing world-class players? The only players you will sign this summer are mercenaries who are looking to get a good footballing pension for their twilight years. Spurs will be cashed up but with no one wanting to join.

Blimey, with all that doom and gloom I thought Id clicked the wrong team and stumbled into the Liverpool rumours/ banter forum!
Lets get one thing 100% crystal clear. What you or i read in the papers isn't neccessarily true. Who said Kaka ( and i agree with what you have said about him) was a Spurs target? Its all speculation, heresay and agents trying to get some money in one one more big transfer. Where Kaka is supposed to play IF we even wanted him, I dunno. 4th spot? You may be right, we may not get the "big" names, then again the season isn't over yet, who says we won't finish in the top four? Man City IMHO, look more likely to crash and burn on the final run in than we or even Liverpool do. Hold your horses fella, its not over till the fat lady sings. .
Do remember, in closing, 90% of our squad joined us BEFORE we got Champions league football. Maybe we don't have to spend as much as you think on players nor get on bended knees to sign them. From where im sitting Im only too glad we didn't sign Carroll nor were in the hunt for Torres, they look real bargains. . . .
