just like sunday this team were there for the beating but we start to slow and negative if chelsea or arsenal were playing tonight they would have done the job on benfica same old spurs

To be fair Valley, they did drop out of Champs League, so they are a very decent team.

Also, you boys did have a lot of injuries, so 2-2 away to them is not a bad result.

Agree0 Disagree0

Benfica didn't have to do anything, it was up to us to win by 3, which for the last 10-15 minutes of the game until the penalty looked a possibility.

Thats enough for me what a load of crap. I won't be watching us again this season its too painful.

SHERWOOD OUT and Siggurdson, Townsend, Chadli, Rose, Naughton, Bentaleb, Friedel, Fryers, Dawson and anyother greedy donkey on our books.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Calm down Spurski, you can't blame Brad!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sigg did a decent job in the wrong position. Chadli scored two so of course you still want him to be sold. Bentaleb is still young and sure he played poorly tonight but he does have potential. Brad had a good game. Fryers showed what we all thought, he's much better at CB than LB. Dawson didn't even play but yes of course he is still to blame.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chadli will be ok, Soldado too if we play to their strengths. Paulinho I doubt, Sig is not fancied anymore, Dawson soooo slow and Bentaleb is not allowed to be dropped remember.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wulf, even I can't blame Dawson this time, but we have proved we don't need him as fryers can play there!

i didn't know there was a champions league place for the winners in the europa this year the spurs players seem unintrested and not trying very hard it would have been easier to win this tournament than getting into the top 4 in the league i'm off to the bookies tomorrow to lump on southampton on sunday they will be about 3/1 to win easy money

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed008's Note - I think that rule takes place next season

It is from next season but the way the Thursday/Sunday messes up so many League results I think you sacrifice one for the other. Sounds a lame excuse but stats don't lie and teams always struggle with it. I think Wigan would be top 2 of Championship if they'd not been in it!
You're right on 3/1, snap it up, draw no bet at 6/4 is a great price too.

Just goes to show how out of tune Tim and co are:
They are clueless we had hoddle begging for the job and was over looked for Tim why oh why does levy make such poor decisions when it comes to appointing managers.
The team are no better they are all sitting on decent contracts and really dnt care.
A lot of em must go this summer.
And when is levy going to stop mugging the fans of and come out and let us know the clubs future plans.
Go out get your manager now if it is vg and work from now with him and decide who stays who goes

Soldado does himself no favours with pathetic misses like he just did.

Whenever Tottenham misses out on a player who prove to be great buys for someone else, we blame Levy or the manager (although there is no praise for them when we don't buy players who turn out to be expensive disasters).

Suarez keeps cropping up as the prime example of the one that got away and Harry usually takes the blame.

In truth, there was only ever a remote chance of us getting him.

His strike rate for Ajax was outstanding, so he knew he was being tracked by all the biggest clubs in Europe. If they didn't bid for him, it was only because of doubts about his temperament.

A move to a club like Spurs was only ever going to be the last resort for him and when Liverpool decided to take on the risk, we weren't even that. They had won 5 European Cups, while we hadn't won a major trophy in his lifetime.

He was never coming to us.

But what about Harry's supposed doubts about him?

We would have had to smash our transfer record to get him and we didn't have the £50m Torres deal lined up.

Harry knew he could score goals in Dutch football, but wasn't sure he could do the same in the Premiership. For a season-and-a-half he didn't. He scored a respectable 21 goals in 52 games (0.4 a game), but that is exactly the same strike rate as both Defoe and Adebayor.

Harry probably also have feared his behaviour would make him a liability. It has. He has missed 18 games through suspension: that is half a season.

Harry's doubts were entirely justified.

Of course, Suarez has now answered all those doubts. His overall contribution was always excellent and in the last season-and-a-half the goals have come in a flood: 55 in 72 games (0.76). But hindsight always has 20/20 vision.

If we now regret not taking the risk that Liverpool took, what about United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich and PSG?

They are the clubs that were really in the running for him.

Km pointless talking about swarez.
Even if we did sign him he probably have left anyway.
Willian deal was done Tottenham dilly dallied on it as normal
That 1 or 2 million to get our original target not the bargain bucket alternative.
Unless u have shares in spurs or care about their accounts back levy ok
Oops we r 1 down
Please someone tell me we won't have these players next year or Tim, lez or Chris in charge plzzzzzz

Agree0 Disagree0

Mr G

You are right. I only mentioned Suarez because whenever I ask people about all these players we didn’t sign because of Levy’s tightness and Harry’s poor judgement, he is the only credible name I hear.

Maybe there was a window of opportunity when we might have got him, but I doubt it.

Tonights team confirmed:

Team v Benfica - Friedel; Naughton, Fryers, Sandro, Rose; Lennon, Bentaleb, Chadli, Sigurdsson, Townsend; Soldado

Subs: Archer, Ball, Ogilvie, Veljkovic, Eriksen, Winks, Kane.

It's not THAT bad of a starting XI considering our injury list, but I expect us not to qualify for the next round.

All they can do is try! COYS!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would have expected Eriksen to start.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why? After all the team was picked by TS, when has he done the obvious and practical thing?
