Does anyone know whether Southampton had a sell on clause for Bale and if so how much do they get?

Mr Daniel Levy took advantage of Southamptons poor financial position a few years ago and purchased the sell on clause for £2m. Southampton got Levyed!

It's easy to be critical and I was loving the transfers but we all knew that the way we set up today relied us playing a hard pressing game and we did not
We take too long to get the ball forward and therefore allow the opposition to get back behind the ball, we then go wide and only have one in the box.
We looked better with two up front, Erikson will make a difference and we will gell but we still have to get the ball from front to back quicker and Find a Final ball, Walcott was poor but found his forward at the right time!
Not sure how 4 3 3 will work!
Peeved that we have to wait two weeks to see what happens next

Felt we missed eriksen/holtby today, that creativity in the final third

Plus chadli amd townsend are very similar, don't think they complement each other well but voth good players

Lamela and Lennon to come, Eriksen in behind Soldado - options and improvement to come.

A little disjointed today, not quite gelled yet and some time required by all.
However, this result will do us all sorts of favours, we will now realise it needs lots of work and patience to get it right, nothing is a given despite our obvious talent on show.
More importantly Arsenal's manager will feel fantastic that his lack of purchase's were justified,
his ego will be massaged and come the end of a long season we will be very much smiling and looking down on our noisy neighbours.

I wouldn't make predictions like that sometimes it comes back to bite you on the arse, remember the mid the gap phrase, seems even more ironic now.

Fellow yods. Don't panic. It was tough to have an away North London Derby so early on. Allow the players to settle and I have a feeling that'll be the last time we have to stomach a defeat to the gooners for a long time.

Totally agree northern spur! His first pass was a normal 60 yarder to the opposition! There is no chemistry between him and Vert, and he is a loyal accident waiting to happen . Mind you Rose isn't far behind, can't defend for his life, cgetting torn apart down that side and is a liability!

When Chadli gets the ball he just is not direct enough and seems a bit clueless! A couple of times it opened up for him and the ball went sideways.

Worst thing is we have to wait until after the International break to put it right!

Have to agree he wears his heart on his sleeve but Dawson was so poor today not the only one though thought AVB played right into a poor gooners side hands no midfield pressing from us whatsoever in a north London derby?Always thought BAE better than Rose, Lamela looked good but Soldado must be getting pissed off with no support what so ever, Erikson can't come quick enough

Good point gooner fan but really apart from when they have to up their game against us deep deep down are you happy with that gooner team? because I don't give a toss about you as with the money we've spent we should be focusing on 2nd and 3rd place teams not you

With all the new signings arriving, we are looking like a completely new team. Good in some ways but bad in others.

We have finally bought quality players to strengthen the team as a whole and done it very early in the tsfr window that they have a good chance of bonding earlier than normal.(Mid to late season). We have a quality striker and an abundance of riches in midfield.

Everyone is craving that extra bite in Defence but with Dawson on form and Kaboom back from the dead we actually have a decent defence which brings me onto the LB situation. IMHO what we have is very good. We have D.Rose who has a lot to learn but is showing excellent promise but we still have B.A.E who IMO is excellent. Yes he goes astray in some games but his calm composure and quality on the ball is one of the best in the premier league. Baines and Evra are the only ones that are better/on par with him.

To me the drama is the RB as only K.Walker is there as Naughton IMO is useless, yes he will improve but needs a few seasons on loan first. All positions on the field have excellent replacements except RB. Everyone criticises BAE for going stray but K.Walker is more regularly out of position and has to rely on his speed to recover.

What we need now is the team to gel and gel quickly as that will be the difference at the end of the season. Aim for top 3 at least and then next year for the title. Really looking forward to this season but I am expecting a few blips due to the mass overhaul of the squad. As I said top 3 expected but top 4 a necessity. COYS!!

No disrespect Foxspur907, but you are sooo wrong, K Walker is an England international and Kyle Naughton is a fantastic option, the guy has plenty of potential and if Walkers form dips he will be a perfect replacement. As for our LB I think and I'm not alone in this thought that Rose or BAE are simply not good enough and is a position that needs strengthening.

No disrespect taken THFC4EVER we all have our own opinions and all are valid IMO. I do believe that we need to strengthen both LB and RB positions and I see where you are coming from with K.Walker but they both have a tendency to be out of position several times. If we were going to get a new LB then why not go guns blazing and get Baines? He has proved to be more consistent of all LB's and would get whichever LB we keep to also improve! (I would keep BAE over D.Rose) but I would prefer a better option to K.Naughton when K.Walkers form dips!
