Anyone know the procedure about the snow and the game Sunday? If the pitch is ok but outside the ground is under snow does the game go ahead? I'm sure games got PP a year or so ago for health and safety reasons outside the ground?......

Rufus {Ed008's Note -Yeah something like that it's travelling to the stadium etc I think Sunday games should be fine it's saturday matches under threat.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It'll only be postponed if Sir Alex wants it to be !!

AVB has said holtby deal be difficult the same as he said bout damiao aswell? what the hell is going on how can it be difficult just pay the 2 mill euro and ya have holtby he also said be unlikely any other transfers this window is it me or are we actual broke this weekend when we shudnt be with all the money that came in from modric and others levy must be keeping all the money himself

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Would avb have come to us if we were broke, I doubt it. this is just the management playing poker in the transfer market. if he doesn't realise we need a striker with only one senior forward available then we should be very concerned.

Agree4 Disagree0

Well lets face it both AVB and DL are playing a very dangerous game of poker (especially over the next few weeks) and there are massive stakes on the table!! If Defoe pulls up with a hammy right now and with no other recognised (1st team)striker on the books, can we realistically expect CL football next season? For me its ridiculous that THFC are in this position and underlines the problem that is our chairman!! I don't believe for a second that AVB isn't telling DL that he needs a top class striker in, just look at our chances created to goal ratio!! Clearly we will have top targets but if I was a betting man I would say DL response is he aren't spending the money it would cost to bring them in, instead will be throwing cheaper alternatives back at AVB to which AVB will be saying no thanks, not good enough I will stick thanks... The waiting game contiunes right up until the transfer window closes and bang we get another Clint Dempsey!
For the record I don't think Clint Dempsey is as bad as some say however isn't the kind of player going to take us to the next level, decent squad player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dave, don't hold your breath ! Old tight arse has known for 3 years we need a striker and look what came, saha, ade etc
Davo

Agree0 Disagree0

Davo I guess I agree I am just ever hopeful that levy's business acumen would make him realise that the machine called tottenham would run smoother with a few new parts to streamline the operation, otherwise we will be left behind the competition and surely that would affect his dividends which is all he cares about. I dount mind him considering profit as long as he understands he needs to speculate to accumalate a standard basis to be successful and not an also ran

derbyshire dave

ps ed 002 keep up the good work I sometimes think you are on here more than me ha ha

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm happy with Levy and think he's put a decent project in place - amazing youth talent and training centre, a coach who can offer longevity if he succeeds, and a new stadium (maybe the olympic stadium, not) in the next few years. Whether it's with a view to sell or not, it definitely puts us in a good position for the future. I do however agree that a big name striker would put us over the edge in terms of quality. We could have been reaping the benefits for 2-3 seasons already.

To me what makes it more obvious that Levy is rejecting AVB's requests, is the constant "it's difficult" quotes from AVB. In other words, "I know what we need, I know who I want, but the chairman isn't willing to take the risk". Anyway, still a couple of weeks to go. Plenty of time to do business.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that Dempsey was a good signing. Over the last few years I've felt we've been a bit poor at getting scrappy goals against lower table opposition and Dempsey is exactly the sort of scrapper that gives us an extra option. I don't think he has the quality of some of our other players but he's not a bad player either and is doing well for us.

Levy I also think is doing a good job. A lot of the talent we have now were players we picked up relatively cheap as youngsters. It's harder for us now that we are more on people's radars. I don't think he has been infallible - for example this time last year when we were nailed on 3rd he should have cashed that in to get people like Hazard. I also share a concern that if we don't have a good January push then we risk losing more by not making CL football than we would in paying a bit over the odds.

Does anyone know why BAE isn't playing any games and doesn't look to be in the frame for UTD? He's been fit for three weeks now and is by far our best left back

Sandro out for seadon

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Some have said he was out for the season, but the seadon too? Bad luck for Sandro.

Absolutely gutted Sandro is out for the rest of the season, best defensive midfielder in the prem by a mile for me!!
Many were saying cash in on Parker for a massive 4m, anyone still of this opinion??

No Sandro, Adebayour out of form and off to ACN will be a disruption as well.....we're very thin on the ground as a squad. We're managing at the back with long term injuries but, now we only need Dembele to be struggling again and it's going to be Parker/Livermore/Hudd in the middle and Defoe the only recognised striker.

Not good enough with a top-4 run in, Europa League and FA Cup games. Look at the awful run we had last Feb/March and how tired and limited the squad got, it's even smaller this year.

We need a midielder (Holtby to come now or Sneijder) and a striker (Negredo, Llorente or Damaio).

Big spend but big prize/s to be won in the next 4-5months.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Livermore, for me, just doesn't cut it.
Yes, we could get holtby now and move dembele back, if needed.
M'villa Is not expensive, neither is sissoko. We need a sandro replacement, to help scotty, as now been confirmed as out for the season.

COYMFS.

Agree5 Disagree0

Of course, if we lost Dembele or Defoe we would be stretched, but we have many more midfield and attacking options than you suggest.

Midfield anchor: Parker, Livermore or Huddlestone

Central midfield: Huddlestone, Siggurdsson, Dempsey, Jenas or Bale

Left wing: Bale, Lennon, Dempsey, Townsend, or Siggurdsson

Right Wing: Lennon, Bale, Townsend or Naughton

Forward line: Defoe, Dempsey, Bale or Falque

We wouldn't want to be forced into playing people in unfamiliar positions (e.g. Naughton as a winger or Bale as a striker) but our squad is as large as most and we could absorb a fair number of injuries before we were struggling to field a credible team.

I would also like to see a stronger Tottenham squad, but I recognize that we can't just add top quality players to what we already have. Realistically, it will have to be ˜quality in, quality out'.

For example, if we bought Moutinho or Sneijder as our playmaker, that would probably mean the departure of Dembele, because we can't afford a £15m bench-warmer.

Similarly, Willian would probably mean the end of Lennon or Bale (or both) and Damiao or Lllorente would mean the departure of Defoe or Adebayor (or both).

Only a handful of clubs can afford world class cover in every position. We aren't one of them.
KM

Agree1 Disagree4

Km you talk bolloc*s!
If we sign a playmaker that means we'll sell Dembele?? Omg! Why don't you sit down and watch dembele play and you'll see there's not many players with attributes similar to Dembele. So why on earth would we sell him.
Did you know dembele is playing out of position? Did you know his best position is behind a striker in a free role?
Your post is absolutely pathetic!

Jermain

Agree5 Disagree0

Km, if we sign Moutinho that'll be the end of Dempsey! That's the example you shoul have used.

Jermain

Agree4 Disagree0

Are you really suggesting Jenas is an option for us ? I thought the objective this season was CL plus maybe a cup not the Championship.

Agree2 Disagree0

Oh please KM .
Midfield anchor - livermore and huddlestone
Cm - huddlestone and jenas
By christ we are getting desperate ! Hopefully toght arse will dip in his pockets before we have to rely on these !!
Davo

Agree1 Disagree0

Adebayour is no loss, want rid . jenas is pointless . livermore is at best a sunderland player . we need plenty to be regular champions league players . we have to decide do we make the step up or stay a 5th or 6th place team with champions league potential .

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not Willian for the last 16 prem games and FA cup etc, we all know Bale will go in the summer anyway and if we got rid of dead wood like Bentley Gomes, (Gallas at the end of the season) then we could have a couple more world class players in the squad to help compete in the league, domestic cups and europe because the lesser players simply aren't good enough!

Agree0 Disagree0

By own admission Dembele thinks of himself as a DM btw...

Agree0 Disagree2

Rooney thinks of himself as a foward yet some of his best performances
have come from deep.
I watched a interview of dembele and he said he likes the position but he has to do too much running. His natural position is AM. Imagine dembele and his swift trickery in the opposition box.....1 word, dangerous. Plus the pressing from the front he would bring to this team is exactly what we need. Dempsey is a lazy man who only thinks of himself...doesn't and never has defended from the front.

Will avb play them on the wing so they can drift in from time to time or will they just plough down the middle I hope they play well and don't slip up and start sliding down the table after snowballsing it up again like last year and we definitely need to beat the snowdrop or its championslip footy for us
