Evening Gents. I was at WHL today for the game, and what a game/performance.

I just wanted to ask you guys what your thoughts are on 'safe standing' trials in the Prem/Champ. Anyone who's been to home games, or even away games, will have noticed the flat atmosphere at top flight games and the first half today was big reminder. The place was silent for almost the whole game.

I love WHL at anytime but none more so than when its buzzing with atmosphere as it often is. There's a reason its been called White Hot Lane. So I signed the e-petition for safe standing trials in the UK as I think this will go a long way to creating an electric buzz around match days that we all love.

I just wondered what your thoughts on safe standing are? I for one cannot see any great downside to having safe standing at games and would welcome it.

I know this isn't about the match itself and that people will want to discuss that but I was just keen to hear thoughts from fellow spurs fans. I for one feel it is what the English game is missing. DISCUSS.

The lack of atmosphere against Swansea was a reflection of the game rather than the stadium, but I still think you have a point.

In principle, I am in favour of all-seater stadiums and returning to standing on the terraces seems a backward step, but I have to acknowledge that seat prices are discriminating against life-long Spurs supporters who are strapped for cash in these hard times. Introducing some standing areas might help that.

The real problem is that most Premier clubs now derive the greater part of their revenue from television and related activities. This has been a bonanza for the clubs but they have not passed any of this benefit on to fans. When I look at the structure of Tottenham's revenue it seems to me that we could be just as effective as a club if some seat prices were much lower than they are at present.

The trouble is that we fill the stadium even at the current high prices, so there is no incentive to lower them. That is also why we would probably not participate in this 'safe standing' experiement even if we could.

I understand and agree with you in some ways. Although as a younger Spurs fan (not saying you are old) I really want to be able to stand and sing and I feel its much easier when standing.

When I've traveled away The Spurs fans drown out the home fans wherever they go. At home Its not the same. The Park Lane is always loud. Is this in part because they always stand? I don't know.

I think at least having the option therefore keeping family zones etc would be a great option for the club and they would get more money from a smaller area of the stadium even with lower standing ticket prices.

Thanks for your thoughts COYS

Defoe was his usual lethal self yet again today. Give the lad a 100 chances and he might smash 1 or 2 in!! A class striker would make watching us more enjoyabl as well as safer (health wise)!

Believable11 Unbelievable5

So having scored 13 goals this season, I make that, according to your calculations, that he has had 1300 attempts at goal in about 20 games.
Take all his goals away this season, where would we be?
Stupi.d comment.
I'm no fan of his but we have only 2 recognised strikers.
Get behind the team ffs.

He barely got the ball to be fair to him, our possession wasn't as penetrating as the stats suggest with 16 shots on goal or whatever it was. Ade came deep to get the ball which he did brilliantly so Defoe had to stay up there with their CBs. They got a couple of brilliant blocks in against him. Another game and he would have bagged a hatrick. Great to be there today.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. We could have scored 5,6 or even more goals today but you have to give alot of credit to the Swansea defense.

Wow, great performance by the lads and hugo lloris OUCH! but good performance and also gallas and vert are great together, but we should be more clinical but overall a great perfomance, great to see scotty parker back!! who else heard the massive cheer when he came on? COYS

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Didnt see the game, so what is the hugo lloris ouch about?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well on the 94th minutes a ball was played over the top to the onside michu who had to tap it in for a easy equalizer but hugo lloris, rightly, came to punch the ball and on the follow through he caught michu and he fell flat to his back and stayed there. but then andros townesded was 1 on 1 after playing on and he missed. then swansea thought it was very bad sportsmanshp and started having a brawl. but michu was okay and jake livermore (who was on the bench) got yellow carded for running onto the pitch...

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for that information

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest I thought the ref had played on because Michu was obviously okay. He was on the ground but he was moving and just looked like he was catching his breath. Then Swansea made a huge fuss over it because their game plan was to keep the pressure on in the last few minutes and hope that we lost our nerve like in previous matches. If anything it was bad sportsmanship from Swansea.

Agree3 Disagree0

Absoulotly right, he was moving his arms so to be honest andros townsend missed a good chance to make it 2-0 lol, well at the end of the day does it really matter? we got the 3 points, COYS

What the f**k is going on ? Gallas playing and caulker on the bench ! What is up with AVB ? We need someone with pace to combat Swansea , not a seaside donkey !

He was brilliant today, strong, composed if a little slow as always. it was a difficult game to stand out in today cos the whole team played brilliantly but he was superb.

Jimbo

Still unreliable and a liability , not in same class as Caulker !
Davo

Agree0 Disagree0

An experienced defender will read the game well enough not to need to rely on pace. I thought Gallas and Vert were solid together and showed great intelligence off the ball. With the goals we been leaking I think it's a sensible choice. I'm sure we'll see a lot more of Caulker when there's more coincidence amongst the team.
Just my opinion!

Banter please Ed :
I see Redknapp on the box last night praising Adel to the rafters , how good he knew he always was , etc etc , then why the hell did he let him go for £1 mill . The bloke is so quick to try and grab the headlines for anything . Next he will be telling us he set RVP on the path to glory !

That time of year comes around again where we all hope that Daniel Levy with fund several large signings that will take us on to the next level - sadly as in previous windows, it will not happen. We may see the arrival of one star player - i've a sneeking suspicion it could be Erriksen of Ajax, but despite trying quite hard, not much else. we could see a few go, there is a but again, only if the valuation is met and with Levy this is difficult. The likes of Gomes (3m), Bentley (4/5m), Friedel (foc), Gallas could be allowed to leave providing there are no further injuries and Kaboul continues his speedy recovery without set back. Huddlestone could also be allowed to leave but only once we have secured a replacement (Erriksen). Dawson would only go if that silly offer of 8m + materialises and ythen we'll keep Gallas. So overall not much attivity. In the summer AVB wants another Striker and Creative player but Bale will probably leave us unless we qualify for the CL in which case he may continue his development for one more year. But the inevitable will happen either this Summer or next to Real Madrid as their main signing - the president of RM, Mourinoh and & Ronaldo dependant. But spurs will cash in for the 50m+ being talked about and who can blame them.
