again for people who say VDV will leave

Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has admitted the is settled at White Hart Lane and is feeling great after suggesting that he initially found it tough following his move to England last year.

Van der Vaart joined Spurs from Real Madrid back in September 2010 and, after impressing with his performances for the north London club during the 2010-11 season, claims he is now completely settled in the Premier League.

"In the first year you come into the club and you don t really know anyone, you are a little nervous and you have to get used to the league, the lifestyle, but now we re really settled and I feel great here, " he told the club's official website.

Van der Vaart took part in his first pre-season training session in England earlier this week and admits that he hopes to play "a lot of games" this coming season by getting himself fit for the start of the new campaign.

"It s been quite hard, in fact, I think I prefer to come back a little later" Van der Vaart added.

"Seriously though, it s been good. We ve all had a holiday and now we re back in training and getting ready for a hard season. I feel great. I did my fitness sessions during the summer, so I feel good.

"You need this work, it s really important to get in shape.

"We have a tough pre-season, we go to South Africa and you want to stay fit for the whole season, so you need these sessions.

"I can remember when I came here, okay, I had pre-season at Madrid and I felt quite fit but here, the pace of the game is more intense than in Spain and that s why I had a few little injuries.

"At the end I played a lot of games and I hope to do the same next season."

hahaha VDV wants to stay and Modric should take a lesson from him he is a true legend.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Easy let's not start giving him "legend" status just yet, you would have said the same about Modric 6 months ago only player who comes close is Ledley. Refreshing to hear positve comments tho.

Seems to me that Modric doesn't understand what "acceptable offer" and "consideration" actually mean, 22m from Chelski is not an acceptable offer so there is nothing for Levy to consider. Can't see any offer from a rival prem club as acceptable myself

Another thing lads. We have to remember that we coped perfectly well without modric for half a season. It was krancjars brilliance which helped us achieve champions league football, something I bet the majority of you guys forgot. He was instrumental for us in the 09/10 season. Not so much modric. Azza

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Yet he is going as well so that's pointless and also they both played left mid through out most of that season until Bale played in the last 5 games

After modrics discusting outburst we have no option but to sell the pr***. It's obvious that modric doesn't want to go anywhere but Chelsea and I no it's wrong to sell to our rivals but do we really have any other option. If we can get 35/40m for him then we should sell him. We have to look for replacements immediately, Diego, Marin are very much capable of filling modrics boots. Both must be considered and we must act soon. If on the other hand Harry replaces Modric with sh*** Parker we may aswell give up hope of ever returning into champions league. Azza.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Im just really worried about levy not acting fast enough and us losing our chance to get any top quality players. thus sending us back in too 7th/ 8th place again next season... do you think this is a possibility Azza?

Agree0 Disagree0

If we lose modric, we'll lose our creativity. Therefore we must replace him with the right person if we want to keep challenging. Levy will buy us the right people have faith in him. I can pretty much assure you a top class striker is on the way. If we gey the right guys in, we'll still be up there challenging. Azza
{Ed008's Note - Any Idea's who you would like to see be brought in to play in the middle with creativity ? I would like to see Montolivo.

Agree1 Disagree0

**** it's possible if we don't get the rift players in mate. Azza

Agree0 Disagree0

Why bring a player in when we have another croatian who is great * granted whilst less of a creator
More an attacker * and better with finishing ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Never really seen him play Ed, will check him out though. I'd love to see marko Marin play there, or Diego. Diego would be the ideal replacement in my opinion. Azza

Modric needs to speak to his agent, seeing hes the one who brokered the extension to his contract only last year.he was happy to sign at the time, for an extended period, on a salary which is not expensive in premier league terms.
even allowing for the gentlemens agreement, he has to realise that chelsea are taking the piss with their derisory offer, only made to turn modrics head, and force the issue for a lesser transfer figure than the market suggests it should be.
levy is in a difficult position here.its plain modric wants to go, though why he thinks an aging chelsea will continue to compete for all trophies rather surprises me.theyre stuck with torres who has lost that yard of pace, terry who is beginning to show the effects of his manner of playing, essien who is now injury prone, drogba who cant have much left in the tank, lampard who flatters to deceive etc.
does levy show modric 2 fingers and make him stay and depending on modrics attitude, play him, leave him on the bench, in the stiffs or in the stand?
myself , i would sell him abroad [but cant see him wanting to go there] or stick a 45mil price tag on him, and lets see who really wants him then.
i cant see spurs fans wanting to keep him now after this outburst.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Why not start a bidding war £35m lower entry level. Sell the f***ker to the highest bidder. Who cares what he wants the little skank. He is a lying so and so. Great player, no brains.

Agree1 Disagree0

Chelsea were next to useless last year and still managed to finish 2nd. No doubt they are going to clear out some of thier dead wood and spend big on younger players. Unfortunately they can pay more and have the extra pull of champions league football so to be honest im not really surprised modders wants out. No point keeping a unhappy player, negotiate with Chelsea and get working on bringing some quality in. Im only interested in players who want to wear the shirt

10 Jul 2011 18:53:57
All right... this is what we have to do. tell all the clubs that depending who they are, then modric costs more or less. for example:
Chelsea: £42m or £32m + 1 or two decent players
City: £40m or £30m + 1 or two players
United: £37m or £27m + 1 or 2 players ( but preferably not jonny evans as one of them)
Foreign clubs: £35m or £25m + players

Wrong, wrong, WRONG
For Gods sakes You dont sell your best players to your rivals You really think those clubs will give us a wodge of money AND their decent players?
Not a bloody chance, anyway what THEY value their players at isnt what WE value them at. By all means sell him abroad but NOT to the other English clubs, if we do that we havent learnt anything at all

I think we have to be really patient over the next 3 or 4 years if we are to get anywhere near title challenging. Harry is gone next year and everyone knows it, he has been a true legend for our club and was a fantastic manager but I don't think he will leave for England i think he will be sacked.

Harry will be sacked because we would of played poorly. not relegation battle but mid table dullness. I know this because no matter which manager we have had for example Jol and Ramos when our best player wants to leave (e.g Carrick, Berbatov and Keane) we always lose our moral and have some awful performances. I guarantee you this will happen. it happends with every club and I know Liverpool fans will say this didn't happen to them is because when you play against the club in the next game your player is playing for and he plays like that you are bound to get good out of it.

It happens to us a lot but we always seem to get the worst of it until a new manager comes in. in my opinion sacking Harry will cause the majority of Spurs fans to protest in hopefully making Levy resign or getting him sacked (third time lucky). we should bring in a Chairman who loves Spurs and knows what he is doing then bring in a top class manager and rebuild around our LOYAL players e.g (Dawson, King, Hudd, Lennon, VDV and Defoe and work from there). yes it will take a lot of time, we will lose some of our best players on the way and we will need a huge amount of investment but i believe we will compete but not this season and if Modric goes i wouldn't think about getting Rossi or Eto'o

I couldn't understand ur logic that...... when our players want out we perform poor ..... n all

basically it is related to negativity n tactics
....mind u guys everybody keeps on judging or predict a team by means of the players who r sign
but thats not true
look at manu's team it was one of poorest of their all time teams .technically manc, chelsea had better squad but but
manc played with 3 defensive midfielders
chelsea count find a way to adjust 50miln torres in their system ..so they couldnt stop manu
arsenal start every season like its their to win...but in jan-feb-march look how they perform coz wenga boy looses his mind we can see how he tatters.rumble tumbles, sulks, kicks the grass n all like having no clue ..n thats how his team performs having no clue ...

as far as us ...we r concerned harry has lost it....i mean he has got us the highest he can....the players know it thats y they want out , truth is harry helped us from relegation n all but ....harry isnt a world class manager ..he is just a step or 2 ahead of midtable managers...if we want to win big we want a bigger name now ..

harry needs to be sacked

Well, Im reading a lot of the responses to the Modric "Interview" and some i agree with and some i dont. I think, to clarify what ive read in the interview, it would appear that Levy agreed to "discuss" any bids that came in for him NOT agree to let him go. IF this interview is kosher, Id be inclined to shove the little f*ckweasel in the reserves for the season then ship him out to a foreign club at the end of it. We really MUST NOT allow him to dictate things. Has nobody asked him why he bothered to sign such a long contract without the certainty of Champions league football? Is the boy a complete cretin?
Levy is being given the persona of somesort of Emperor Ming but, irrespective of what happened in the January transfer window, has backed every manager with plenty of money. Few clubs have spent more than we have over the last few years and still been solvent, for that he is to be commended. As for transfer targets, we are all running before we walk, I am as guilty as anyone for that. The transfer window hasnt closed and we tend to do our deals out of the prying eyes of the Press and media and we also tend to sign players near to the end of windows rather than at the start of them. A lack of activity now means nothing as, like the swan all graceful on the surface, its the feet frantically kicking away underneath the surface that drives it forwards and we dont see that. I think the bigger issue is Redknapp. Is he staying for more than one season or not? has he got what it takes to get the best out of the players? Is he only a great Fireman, putting out the fires but no good at rebuilding the houses? Personally and, yes ive said it before, he has to be suspect if he rates Crouch. Lets put it this way, would YOU want a manager running your club who would pay £10 million for him?
People, its time to be strong and we really need to send a signal to Levy that, while getting shot of Modric would be a disaster it would be an even greater disaster to allow him to be sold to a club that has bullied us into selling him to them. If he is to be sold on he must be sold abroad, not to a rival, f*ck the fact that Chelski would pay more, thats not the issue. Ian wright had it spot on in his column the other day, accusing Arsenal of being a feeder club to Man City. Now I may not like him for being a Gooner but i got him and respected his view because its a view that i have and any other supporter has on seeing their best players f*ck off to a rival club. It must not happen.

More from our boy Modric. I have translated via Google as my Croatian is actually weaker than my English if you can imagine quite how feeble that must be.I have in brackets made tweaks that hopefully add to the report being more readable without in anyway attempting to put a spin on things.
So what happened to the 40-minute get-together with the President of the Spurs?
I must first say that I am sincerely disappointed with the way President Levy did communicate with me. He was waiting for me [it was a ]cold [and] pretty arrogant performance has given me the knowledge that [he] really do not care what I [said] to him. It was [the] kind of approach only further convinced that [I wasn't] wrong in the decision to change the environment.
[I reminded the] President of our gentlemen s agreement of last summer when we were in Dubrovnik [and] agreed a contract extension with Tottenham. Then I talked openly with Levy that in perspective, if a concrete offer of a large team, then we will consider the offer and negotiate the best solution for all of us. The President then said OK, we ll sit and talk. Now Levy to co-opt, do not want to talk to and he told me in a raunchy way that there is no chance for me to leave Tottenham
What does this mean a raunchy way?
He threatened me, if you do not accept that his club s stance, then they will send me on a bench or stand, and we talked about the option of other team Tottenham.
There is no doubt that Chelsea is interested in my transfer, after they sent a concrete offer from Tottenham which means that I want [to accept]. I know that the new Chelsea coach said he would like to see me in his team. Of course I am flattered [with] interest in [me] this club that offers what all players dream, [which] is a fight for trophies on all fronts.
When [I]first [knew of ] Chelsea s official offer, I felt that he came [the right] moment. I talked a long time with his family and to the people whose opinions I hold, I thought, weighed, and finally realized that this [outcome] was best for me and the club.
What if Levy does not let go?
I have not thought about it at all because such a solution [is] definitely not good for anyone. Again, I have already told the President last summer that [should an ]offer as in the case of Chelsea [be made then both parties] should find an agreement on mutual satisfaction. So I hope that you will eventually understand the situation and that we will achieve harmony and disperse in an appropriate manner.

Levy you dick he defo wants to leave now i want a new chairman he is bloody awful. Joe Lewis should sack him and bring in someone who know stuff about football and how not to kill a relationship with our Spurs players. it was exactly the same with Alan Sugar. Jurgen Klingsman one of our greatest ever players who single handedly saved us from relegation gave Alan his spurs shirt. typical Alan said he wouldn't even wash his car with that shirt a few years later Alan had no choice to sign a striker to save us from relegation and Klingsman was one of the only players that came forward and said yes i would love to play for spurs. if we had that commitment from players and no stupidity from which is destroying our players moral

2 pieces of news I really DIDNT need this Sunday are that in a Croatian newspaper Modric has restated his desire to leave Spurs and has slagged Levy saying that Levy has gone back on a gentlemans agreement they made last Summer saying that if a decent offer came in from a bigger (ie CL) club he could leave. He also claims that Levy has threatened to let him rot in the reserves rather than let him leave which has made Modric even keener to leave. Modric also claims he knows that AVB at Chelsea wants him. All this from Croatian paper Sportske Novotsni (spelling?) secondly Redknapp is now heavily hinting that Robbie Keane has a future at Spurs wit a load of stuff about what a great pro and character Keane is etc etc ( he does seem like Harrys kind of player as he is an ageing has-been who is "great in the dressing room")
these 2 stories for me say a lot about what is wrong at Spurs under Levy. Firstly in summer 10 and Winter 11 transfer windows we lacked the will to get the quality striker we needed to get CL football again this year (the reason we didnt get 4th this year wasnt that City were that good just that we dropped too many points against inferior teams due to lack of cutting edge), this has directly lead to Modders wanting out. The blame for this must lie at Levys door and added to his efforts to bully Modric which have obviously badly backfired and Levys stewardship looks a bit cackhanded. S

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am also wanting this saga with modric to reach an end which i think it has, and i fully support Levy if that is what he has said. And regarding the Keane issue i think this is for other clubs, who are thinking about signing him. I mean if Redknapp came out and said Robbie is past it and will never play for us, and you were the manager of another club would you be intersted. Dont worry mate, i have the upmost faith in Mr Redknapp and Levy

Modric said he was considering staying until Levy arrogantly said if you don't play at spurs you don't play at all to him and now he 100% wants to leave instead him being 60 - 40. there were so many better ways in dealing with it and now look he could of ruined our season without it even starting

We will have to pull up fookin trees this one and if we do scrimp and scrap at all we will not achieve what we need to achieve in order to keep up with the Jones's, and have our slaggy player shack up with them.

Harry staying loyal to lanky & no striker signed in 2 windows .....should be carved into last seasons headstone. While watching the U-17 World Cup I thought he was by far one of the best players out there and I feel this would be good business as I think he'll be a future star. I also think we should go after these youngsters...

Nathaniel Chalobah - Defensive Center - Currently with Chelsea, captained the England side and looked very impressive on and off the ball
Terence Kongolo - Defensive Center - Play for the Holland team, again looked impressive on and off the ball and has tremendous strength
Kellyn Acosta - Defensive Left - play for USA only 15 years of age but plays with maturity and has great positioning
Fabian Schnellhardt - Midfield Center - Germany team great control with the ball and can pick out a pass, I think he's the next Modric type player
Raheem Sterling - Midfield Left - Liverpool and England starlet, lightning quick and loves to take on players.
Adryan - Striker - Brazilian striker, great striker of the ball and good in possession
