Hi ed002, is there any updates on incomings? Seeing things about Kovacic of Madrid?

Ryan1988

{Ed002's Note - KOvacic is possible and Toljan likely.}

1.) 25 Jul 2017 21:44:19
Thanks ed002.

2.) 26 Jul 2017 07:36:02
Thanks Ed for ratifying my post from earlier!

14 Jul 2017 14:13:26
Hi Ed002, Hope you can answer my question but do Spurs have £££ to spend in the transfer market or is it a case of because we are building the stadium it's a sell to raise some funds situation? Thanks.

Ryan1988

{Ed002's Note - They have more than £3 Ryan if that is what you are asking. And clubs cannot simply keep adding players without others leaving to make space in the squad.}

1.) 14 Jul 2017 16:06:08
Thanks ED002, Most insightful as ever! Have a great weekend!

2.) 15 Jul 2017 01:24:17
we have a bare bones squad and that was before Walker £50m, Bentaleb £16m, N'Jie £6m and Fazio £3m were sold.

We have to invest hard and get 4 players as a minimum or next season on a bigger pitch will sap the first XI.

Josh King, Barkley, Perreira and Nawson must be a minimum requirement.

Newspapers reporting that UTD want Toby Alderweireld. Is this something that could happen and the reason he hasn't signed a new contract?

Ryan1988

1.) 22 Mar 2017 14:09:27
I seriously hope it is just paper talk, IMO joining UTD would be a step back, for Toby to leave us for anyone in the EPL would be a step back, as I feel we are up there with Chelsea currently. Teams like ManU, ManC and ARSEnal are either teams in transition or a downward spiral. Chelsea are the only team around our level currently and let's be honest who wants to go there, plus he plays with his mate 'Super Jan' efer week. I think his new deal with us isn't to far away just that he wants money similar to the other top earners, which is fair enough given he has been 1 of our best players for the last 2 seasons.

COYS.

Do any of the eds have any insight as to why Paul Mitchell resigned? Thanks in advance.

Ryan1988

{Ed001's Note - isn't he off to Liverpool?}

1.) 09 Aug 2016 19:51:14
I knew he had offers but wasn't sure why he was resigning.

2.) 09 Aug 2016 20:26:39
I thought Leicester Ed.

{Ed001's Note - could be mate, I really can't remember. Personally I hope you are right as I really do not rate him at all.}

3.) 10 Aug 2016 15:39:53
Yeah I read Leicester on a few sites earlier too, round about the same time you posted Jerrylee.

I don't rate Mitchell either. He recommended Stambouli and Fazio and when at Southampton Osvaldo. He didn't unearth any real talent for us, just obvious players like Alderweireld.

4.) 10 Aug 2016 17:22:26
Not overly keen on the guy either mate. Be interested to find out the real reason as to why he left! I guess we all have our own ideas. My fav is the power poch now has due to his promotion.

{Ed001's Note - I don't understand why the club brought him in to be honest.}

5.) 10 Aug 2016 23:29:33
Pochettino wanted him though so I don't buy the Pochettino promotion affecting Mitchell. It's blatantly Levy and his ways that has done this, not that I'm unhappy with Mitchell going it's just worrying that Levy affects people like this. Levy needs to deliver us a creative midfielder with pace or I think we will be short.

Hi ED,

What's the deal with Calleri. Is he making a move to Europe?

Ryan1988

{Ed002's Note - Palermo, Chelsea, Inter, Lazio, Fiorentina, Arsenal, Valencia, Spurs, Stoke, Roma and Villarreal are all known to have shown interest in Jonathan Calleri but it was Chelsea and Inter who have discussed a possible move with Boca before his rights were completely purchased by third party investors who struck a deal for his registration to pass from Boca to Uruguan second division side Deportivo Maldonado - and then immediately lent to Sao Paulo. Boca were looking to keep him until the summer and were looking for a premium for a winter sale - and that put Inter on a difficult footing and they started to look for an initial loan or assistance from a third party. Chelsea did not really want to take the player until the summer and they would be looking to send him straight out on loan if a January move was pushed and even that was complicated by the player, at the time, having three owners, Boca, Deportivo Maldonado and an investment company. My expectation was that he would therefore stay at Boca until the summer and then complete a move to Chelsea, assuming the new manager was keen. However, this has rather irked Inter who, strapped for cash, wanted to complete the transfer in January, subject to (a) them having managed to raise the funding necessary to make the deal happen (perhaps with third party assistance) as they remain short of funds, (b) providing the player with assurances over game time, and (c) the player accepting those assurances and agreeing the move which would almost certainly mean playing for a different side until June - probably Bologna or just perhaps Frosinone. Inter fell at the first hurdle as they could not raise the money. The player's third party ownership was so messy that Boca were not in the position to negotiate on their own. It is a little clearer now but generally way more ugly than it should be. Chelsea have since stepped back from the whole mess, Valencia have a change coming in the summer and I expect they will drop their interest. Fiorentina are keen, Inter remain interested, as do Lazio whilst Spurs have moved on but I suspect it is from this group that someone will try and untangle his ownership and make something happen in the summer.

The Work Permit situation for Italy is to be resolved with the Italian Government willing to give him a passport - but the British Government generally takes a dim view of passports of convenience. However, if he were to move to England the costs would be such that he would be eligible in any case. I am not aware of any recent West Ham links although there was a frenzy of activity around Christmas when folks were misled in to believing that he could be moving to West Ham on loan - that would of course not be possible with third party ownership. There is much untangling to do and a couple of further complexities have now popped up which people are not aware of. Firstly Calleri contract was extended by one month from June 30 after permission was granted for him to play in the concluding stages of the Copa Libertadores (where I think he was the leading scorer) which run through July. The second point is that it has been suggested that Sao Paulo may already have a commitment to extend the contract to the end of the year when a move to Europe would possibly happen. Else, he will move to Europe later in this window. Right now talks are not happening and it is in the hands of the club. The club who are committee to unravelling this mess are Fiorentina. Inter may perhaps return but there is no deal. Lazio, just possibly - but my gut feeling is not. Spurs have moved on as I said. West Ham? I think it very unlikely.}

1.) 14 Jul 2016 16:07:46
Thanks for the update ED. Your knowledge is very much appreciated.

What are the chances of Andre Gomes in this window ed? Apparently he's asked to leave Barca.

Ryan1988

{Ed002's Note - I cannot quantify chances but perhaps a slim chance.}

1.) 11 Jan 2018 23:34:17
can you define slim 002?

{Ed033's Note - May I have your attention please? Slim is the alter ego and evil, mischievous side of 002.
Will the real Slim please stand up?

What is the realistic possibility of Bale making a return to Spurs and would we want him. World class player but his injuries are a concern!

Ryan1988

1.) 13 Nov 2017 14:28:18
I wouldn't have bale back Ryan as I think his career will be ended soon with all the injury's he's having. I wouldn't swap dele Ali with him at the moment that's how high our current squad his at the moment. The one player who I would love at spurs from Madrid is Marcus ascensio who will become the best footballer in the world in a few years time.

2.) 13 Nov 2017 18:58:27
Agree the money Or players Madrid would want for Bale wouldn’t be worth it.

06 Sep 2017 12:32:14
Any of the ED's got any idea what is going on with Alderwierelds contract? It seems he is getting tired of waiting. Thanks in advance.

Ryan1988

{Ed002's Note - it is not yet resolved.}

1.) 06 Sep 2017 16:12:25
He's one of the best defenders in the league and being paid one of the lowest wages in the league. I hope spurs sort it out as a lot of top clubs want him.

2.) 06 Sep 2017 19:58:31
He'll move on I think, too good to be paid what you guys pay him plus he'll want to win trophies.

3.) 07 Sep 2017 07:33:42
He won't be moving to Liverpool then if he wants trophies, all honesty I think he will sign a new contract.

4.) 08 Sep 2017 22:56:10
Just like Coutinho wants to win some.
Mane will be next.

01 Sep 2017 10:17:06
I think that turned out to be a half decent transfer window. if we can get Barkley in January then we will be laughing! What did gripe me through the window was Big Mouth Karen Brady coming out and calling Tottenham Bargain Basement Hunters. Who of note did West Ham sign? It's embarassing calling out Spurs when they are currently in a rental!

Ryan1988

1.) 01 Sep 2017 10:43:17
And bottom of the league! Agree Ryan and Ms Brady certainly seems to have a massive chip on her shoulder as far as Tottenham are concerned.

2.) 01 Sep 2017 11:00:29
I just don't get why she always talks about Spurs. I actually feel sorry for West Ham fans as they have been sold down the river by there tin pot owners!

3.) 01 Sep 2017 11:41:01
Coming from the woman who got the linford Christie stadium due to her tory government bung lol. The facts are West ham have always been jealous of spurs.

4.) 01 Sep 2017 12:10:56
I'm glad they got it Raver! We belong in N. London.

5.) 01 Sep 2017 15:51:30
Agree spurs and north London is like the raver and Stringfellows they both belong together.

6.) 01 Sep 2017 17:36:00
I love your analogies Raver, priceless!

7.) 01 Sep 2017 20:39:58
Thanks spurs 62, you put a lump in the ravers throat when you said you were in London drinking and looking for the famous Subaru. Don't worry 62 you will meet the raver and that famous car when I take you out for a night out to get absolutely smashed.

8.) 01 Sep 2017 21:07:10
shes a tory person, raver.

03 Aug 2017 07:43:34
I reckon Poch like us fans is getting a little annoyed with the lack of signings now! It's clear from this methods that he needs a full pre season with new players to get them prepped yet Levy doesn't understand this. It's all well and good penny pinching but if it's going to get us off to a slow start then who does that help! Wembley is going to be a big obstacle to overcome this season and he needs full confidence and I get the impression it's not there! There would be plenty of top clubs vyjng for a manager like Poch yet I believe Levy is taking him for granted. I know its hard to improve our first 11 but we have 4 competitions to contend with this year and there are enough games for a strong bench yet we don't have this. If we lost Kane, Son, Alli through injury then it is detrimental to our season. There shouldn't be an over reliance on players for every game of the season! I thought ineacho, Hernandez would of been great buys yet we never made moves. It's baffling! Would be great to get other people's thoughts and gunnerbod if you have nothing decent to say please just don't say anything thanks! Would be great to have a debate without the tit for tat!

Ryan1988

{Ed025's Note - fair points there ryan..

1.) 03 Aug 2017 08:05:40
I agree Ryan, but is it other clubs holding out for more money. There's some silly prices being floated about, Mahrez, Sigurson 50 mil come on.
Hernandez - I don't think we would have paid his wages, this is a problem for us at the minute even more so now than ever.
Last year we just wasted money on Janssen and Sissoko. That may have some impact on this window, never the less we need to buy.

2.) 03 Aug 2017 09:41:28
Excellent post Ryan and I fully agree with you, if a few of our top boys like Kane gets injured our season will go pop straight away. I also thought ilenacho would have been excellent at spurs as he's young with a huge potential and he never got a chance at City. Why didn't spurs take 30 million and him when they sold walker to them, I've never liked levy and I think if we have a bad season fans will be shouting for him to quit. I would also keep sissoko instead of loaning him out as if you are giving the likes of Jansen one more season to prove himself why not him, same with Clinton njye I would have given him another season before we sold him.

3.) 03 Aug 2017 10:18:12
Good points Ryan, but have a look at that piece by Damien Commolli in the news this morning. He makes some good points in that article I think, the main one I took away being:

How can we attract TOP QUALITY players to be part of a rotation system, without wrecking our wage structure? Do you really think Iheanacho would have joined Spurs to play second fiddle to Kane UNLESS he was getting paid 6 figures? Same with Chicarito. His transfer fee was perfectly affordable, but I'll bet you he was promised first team football. It'll be little and large up top for the hammers this season.

I also think that Spurs deserve respect for how they manage their finances. This isn't me clutching at straws - I want Spurs to be fighting at the top end of the League for my entire life - a sustainable approach will achieve. I'd put money on PSG being relegated in the next 20 years when their owners lose interest and they've hemorrhaged cash. That won't happen to Spurs.

4.) 03 Aug 2017 12:12:19
I think we do need to hang onto the likes of Jannsen and hopefully Lamela comes back to prove himself this season. My point is more of the fact Poch knows what he needs but we haven't even got to the point of negotiating with the players as Levy has always baulked at the valuations. How do we even know the likes of Pereira, Silva, Ineacho wouldn't have come. I knwo there is a lot we don't see behind the scenes but it's getting frustrating seeing rivals strengthen whilst we wait for a bargain to present itself which might not happen.

5.) 03 Aug 2017 12:51:43
I don't know that we HAVEN'T got to the point of negotiating with those players. Do you?

6.) 03 Aug 2017 13:11:22
Great post Ryan, BUt I think we are in a unique situation at Spurs, trying to improve our starting XI is a near impossible task, as any players who would do this cost a fortune in todays inflated market and their wages would ruin the structure at Spurs not to mention possible cripple us currently. So it is all about strength in depth, the problem with this is you are essentially looking for quality players who are either second fiddle or stars at their current clubs, this causes issues, because a star player at one club will not swap that for a bit part at a better team unless the are earning a fortune and its the same for second string players what's the point of leaving one clubs bench for another, (Ilheanacho springs to mind) its a very unique situation caused by clubs such as Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea and now PSG. Levy hit the nail on the head this kind of market is unsustainable, I don't care how big of a club you are, you cannot continuely spend more then you earn, it will come to a crushing halt sooner or later and when it does clubs like ours and it pains me to say Arsenal will be in pole position to benefit from it.

COYS.

7.) 03 Aug 2017 14:45:02
Yeah I get your point THFC, spending is unsustainable and I'm not sure how PSG are getting around this Neymar transfer. Chelsea give them there due have slowed down with the outrageous spending and only really spend what they re coup on transfers now but Man City and Manchester United have gone in heavy the last 2 season. I don't think it's just about the unrealistic spending. It's also about how are national team will suffer. Most prem clubs has great youth set ups but it seems pointless if none of them are going to get a look in. I think that is one advantage of Poch unlike some of his counterparts. I digress a little but this whole money wheel has turned football into a corporate commodity even moree than it was already. I'm going to have to change my sport of choice to women's beach volleyball.

8.) 04 Aug 2017 08:08:40
Ryan, Womens beach volley ball sounds more pleasing on the eye and is most defiantly cheaper than football!

I do agree that Chelsea have now culled their spending as I think even the Russian is aware that things are becoming unsustainable, but it was them that started this crazy spending, so I feel they need to shoulder their part of the blame.

IMO With or without investment this year I think we will still hold our own against the rich and mighty, players will take time to adjust and settle and some will not be cut out for the EPL, some this season should be ok, providing the Wembley effect doesn't haunt us, but we cannot have to many windows like this.

COYS.

9.) 05 Aug 2017 08:49:21
I think Spurs have done brilliantly but now have to decide if they continue with their current model or break it to attract the one or two players that might help you take that final step. It's a tricky one because if one players earns X then others want to earn that too. Kane is very loyal to Spurs (top man) but others who can double their money might not be so loyal which could lead to what we have seen at Arsenal over the last decade, player after player moving on whilst at the top of their game.

The situation has worsened due to the ridiculous fees and salaries being paid to players by some clubs (including United) which is well on the way to destroying the game.

Come on let's not kid ourselves our loss of Walker won't be as great as your loss of Sanchez especially if we play 3 at the back and deploy wing backs as opposed to full backs! 50million for Walker is great business sense. You guys trying to hold onto a player whoe doesn't want to be there isn't! Just speaking the truth pal!
