The most intriguing fact to emerge is that Real Madrid are still paying Spurs for Gareth Bale. The whole deal will take at least 5 years for Spurs to receive the whole sum.

Appears that Newcastle will become the favourites to sign Berahinho if only because Ashley is prepared to pay £15 million as one single payment.
Ashley is probably the only owner in the PL willing to complete transfers like this.
Think everyone will recall there was a dispute last time between Spurs and WBA over the structuring of the deal. it came out that Real are still paying Spurs for Bale. so structured deals are the norm.
But Ashley's single payment deals obviously going to be more appealing to WBA, even though the player would prefer a move to London.

Ultimately FDave, if the player doesn't want to go, the player doesn't go. Whether or not the fees agreed, single or multiple payments.

I think go for him, 15m not bad. We could kick start his career.
I cannot work out why we bid for him 4 times in the last window and not pursuing it again. So did our management team have it all wrong previously.
People will say his attitude. But at the end of the day we did turn his head. A little similar to a young Welsh man we had a few years back.
{Ed001's Note - the only reason you aren't going for him early is because Peace is refusing to deal with Levy. That might change if they are still stuck with him as the window is closing....}

Roger that Ed001 - To be honest I wouldn't deal with Levy hanging out for 14m for Townsend. Although if I'm honest I don't mind Townsend really.
I see Chelsea are looking at him.

He is being a bit demanding. Spurs have achieved a lot in the last 4 years, by prudent spending. Poch is risking that and his relationship with Levy by appearing to whine about needing more money to spend.
Poch knows that spending money is always going to appeal to fans, even though that it guarantees nothing.
Hopefully, Levy will put him back in his place.

Probably not far from the truth but remember the deal will be constructed very carefully.
Normally about 10% immediately, 65% paid over 5 years and the rest will be clauses, add-ons, additional payments etc.
That makes the deal less daunting to the likes of Real and Barca.

You can't force players to sign for Spurs. I am sure the club is working hard on transfers.
